You might be wondering how you’ll know when your playboy ways are coming to an end. For some it might be an unexpected pregnancy (ahem… you know who), for others it might be finally landing the one woman you’ve always wanted (cough… I won’t mention any names). For me, it was the death of my mentor and the subsequent reading of his will. The signs were there, they always are. But I didn’t notice … didn’t notice them until it was too late, and my demise was complete.
Demise Sign #1 – You find yourself thrust into the land of responsibility and you don’t immediately hightail it out of town.
Demise Sign #2 – Despite being stuck with the world’s biggest Jekyll & Hyde, some sadistic part of you actually enjoys spending time with her.
Demise Sign #3 – Your family suddenly stops wanting to weigh in on every decision in your life.
Demise Sign #4 – Somehow you end up being the voice of reason in your tumultuous partnership.
Demise Sign #5 – You start thinking of other people before yourself.
Demise Sign #6 – You agree to put yourself in the middle of an Alaskan reality TV show that has both of you sleeping in the same tent.
Demise Complete.

I enjoyed it so much, I bought the whole series.
Cute story. I recommend it!
I really enjoyed this story and also would like to thank the author for the non-nauseating love scenes. Excellent.
This is a very entertaining hate to love story with lots of action.
It’s always nice to⁰see love settle the playboy into great husband material
4 1/2 stars. Liked the characters and family interaction. Worth reading.
I enjoyed the characters and the story line – well written dialog
I always find this author’s books a good get away. Something to unwind with and a form of escape from the reality of every day life.
LOVED reading the entire Bailey Family series!!
Great potential by a wonderful author, but the story never breaks out of its medioicreness.
I actively like this family and totally enjoyed this story. It made me laugh sometimes. The sex scenes were not toooo long… ok, I did skim some, but I read the beginnings and ends of each sex scene. Over all it was a really good story. It has a final twist that was not necessary and did not make the book better. I would have dropped that.
A good addition to the Bailey saga. Denver and Cleo are a good couple. I guess you could call this an enemies to lovers story.
Cleo had a lot of baggage that she needed to deal with after her father Chip passed away. Denver had to deal with feeling like everything he loved always left him.
As they come together to try to save her father’s business, Denver and Cleo discover they are exactly what one another needs to move forward in their lives and be successful.
This book was full of secrets and unexpected twists. I listened to the audio book. I waa surprised that the male narrator did not have more dialogue since the book was supposed to be about Denver Bailey. The female narrator’s voice is pretty much the same with all of the female characters.
The story was interesting, and it had an epilogue. I guess it’s Phoenix’s story up next.
Great Book! I loved the twins!! They are the best, so funny. The book is well written, funny, wonderful characters. There are so many things I loved about this book. Piper and Rayne creates a great story, we get to have lots of fun with the Bailey family and Grandma Dori in Alaska and can’t wait for the next trip for my holiday treat when you visit a town and follow the news with Buzz Wheel blog. I really recommend this book
I have absolutely loved all of the Baileys so far but for some reason this one wasn’t my favorite. Don’t get me wrong, I still enjoyed it, it made me laugh and swoon but I didn’t love it as much as the others. Demise Of A Self-Centered Playboy was the 5th book in Piper Rayne’s Baileys Series. It was hot, sexy, and sweet!
Cleo had come to Lake Starlight to spend some time with her Dad. When he passed away, she found herself a co-owner of his adventure company. Of course the other owner, was the egotistical Denver Bailey.
Denver never imagined having to say goodbye to his long time friend, his mentor, this early in his life. So many feelings were taking over from him being gone to becoming a co-owner of his business with his frosty daughter. Would he be able to melt her heart or was he in for a wild ride?
They were such a fun couple! They were thrown together during a difficult time and were trying to survive. I can’t get enough of these Baileys!! Like I said, even though this was not one of my favorites of the series, it was still completely worth the read!!
Can’t beat The Baileys series for great storylines, wonderful characters, witty humor, and sizzling romance. Denver Bailey and Cleo Dawson’s story is one of two acquaintances who are thrown together in a will. Cleo’s father died and leaves his business for both Cleo and Denver to run. Theirs is a prickly relationship as they hardly know each other, nor do they know how to run a business.
It’s a nice story of self discovery, compromise, maturing, uncovering family secrets and finding love.
Of course, the ever growing Bailey family is there for support, but Cleo & Dawson seem to do okay on their own as well. Another winner!!
I love all the Bailey’s but this one literally had me bursting into tears towards the end. Definitely touched on something in my own world. I wish I could compare it to the hot young stud loving me up but sadly it is daddy issues that pulled at my heart.
If you follow the Bailey’s you won’t be disappointed in Denver and Cleo’s story, but then again have these ladies ever disappointed us in the past ??
If you don’t follow the Bailey’s, than put this book down and start from the beginning. You don’t have to but why wouldn’t you want to !!!!!
I have been reading the Bailey family series from the start and I think the best thing the lovely ladies have done is not give too much away about the other siblings. Each book is focused on the sibling it involves and although the other siblings are there and you get a good feel for them you don’t KNOW them.
So all I knew about Denver was the obvious and the fact he was a bit of a self centered man whore. And although I didn’t love him, I didn’t know him well enough not to like him. And I knew even less about Cleo as we really only saw her the one time before this.
And reading the story and getting to know them both I fell in love with them. They were both a little bit broken by their pasts and a little hesitant about relationships. But they were both really likeable characters and they didn’t act like dicks.
The whole relationship was great to watch unfold. The background characters we already love (if you have read this as a series, if not why not?) It’s always fun to catch up with G’ma Dori and Buzz Wheel and the rest of the town. And although I am not a Phoenix fan I can’t wait for the next one.
New release from Piper Rayne!
I love this series from Piper Rayne, they have seriously brought us one addictable, entertaining, must read series with the Baileys. They write their stories with so much passion and chemistry mixed with love, humour and wit which draw you in and hold you from beginning to end.
This one is centred around Denver, the confirmed bachelor who loves his life and has no plans to settle down. With the death of his mentor his life is about to change when his will is read and he is left to run his company along with his mentor’s daughter Cleo. The connection and chemistry between these two is palpable and I loved their banter.
It was lovely seeing the rest of the Baileys, it was like a family reunion and I am looking forward to Phoenix’s story next.
“I’ve wanted you for a long time.” He places his lips on mine, a little harder this time. “And not just your body.” His fingers slide down my ribcage. “You. I want you. I want you to be mine.”
That men in the Bailey family have irresistible charm is nothing new to anyone. One knows how to cook, the other is a teacher and baseball coach, and we have a firefighter with an electrifying job and a plane pilot whose survival skills have made him a hero. All with a heart of gold. And ready to make your heart melt.
Who has never given your heart to a playboy, throw the first stone. I have to admit, this was the Bailey brother that interested me least. But, on the first pages of his book, when we can see inside his heart, it is impossible to resist. The protagonist won my heart. Fully.
The female protagonist is complex, reserved and to some extent exudes animosity. However, it gradually opens, reveals and allows herself. Like a flower bud that slowly blooms and shyly reveals to us all its beauty. They both have the same fear: having their hearts broken. And the fact that their reactions to grief are so similar only brings them closer together.
Impossible not to fall in love with the couple and their trajectory, with their unique, fun, emotionally intense and tender scenes. A beautiful love story, light and fun. One of the best enemies to lovers I’ve ever read. One more book by Piper Rayne to my favorites list.
PS: It’s getting harder and harder to write a review about the Bailey family without giving spoilers.
