From USA Today Bestselling Author, P.D. Workman!
What kind of a monster poisons a psychic’s cat? When Starlight first fell ill, Reg thought that she was the cause of it. She should have been watching him more carefully. She should have found out about household plants and chemicals that could hurt her familiar. She was clearly a negligent owner. But it soon becomes clear that there is some darker … clearly a negligent owner.
But it soon becomes clear that there is some darker force at work, and Reg is going to need all of her resources to find the culprit before it is too late if she is to have any chance of saving her furry companion’s life.

Like the rest of the books in this series, Delusions of the Past is a standalone book, able to be read on its own. However, I have read the preceding books in the series and I would recommend reading each of them in order just because they play well off of each other and they are such a fun set to read!
Delusions of the Past is the 6th book in the Reg Rawlins, Psychic Investigator Series. In the last book, Reg had to find homes for the kattakyns while helping out a gnome who had nearly found himself imprisoned before she came to his aid and found a solution that worked for everyone. Now that everything has settled down again, Reg is ready for things to get back to normal until she notices that Starlight isn’t acting his usual self. Things go from bad to worse and she takes Starlight in to the vet, where he is kept over while they try to figure out what is going on with him. Is it a coincidence that her mother has been hanging around lately? And what did she do to Corvin? He’s been acting strange lately. Things are taking a turn in Black Sands…
Delusions of the Past (Reg Rawlins, Psychic Investigator #6), my twenty-second read from author P.D. Workman. A well-written & enjoyable mystery continuing the ongoing adventures of Reg Rawlins. Now I need to get Web of Nightmares (Reg Rawlins, Psychic Investigator Book 8) & A Whisker’s Breadth (Reg Rawlins, Psychic Investigator Book 9) so I’ll be caught up on the series. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 – July 24, 2018).
Wow, I didn’t see that coming at all!!! What a shock for Reg. I can’t say much more without creating spoilers so I’ll let it go at that. But you definitely need to check it out.
I’m still having some problems with Reg and her attitude. She wants to give Davyn and the coven grief because she says they haven’t done enough to punish Corvin for what he has done to her. Yet the very next minute, she is going to meet him to help him or get his help and expects him to do what he says he will. Double standard much? It is as if she wants everyone else to protect her from Corvin, but at the same time, she wants to be able to be his friend and not suffer any consequences. She knows what he is and that he can’t be trusted. It is extremely frustrating for me. However, I will admit that it was good to see her caring side, at least when it comes to Starlight. I wasn’t sure whether she had one or not. Or maybe it’s just Starlight. She is such a confusing character for me. I can’t decide whether I like her or not. But I must like her more than I dislike her because I keep reading the books..lol! Check them out and let me know what you think.
Starlight’s cat-astrophe…
In this installment of the Reg Rawlins series, Starlight, Reg’s beloved cat (and her familiar), falls mysteriously ill and the race is on to figure out just what happened to him and find a cure. It turns out not to be a simple task as the mystery has many twists and turns and there are suspects around every corner – no one is above suspicion, including some of our favorite recurring characters. Reg realizes the massive positive impact Starlight has had on her life and she is determined to find help for him despite any danger to herself and no matter to whom she must turn. Tension, suspense, mystery, and surprises await. You won’t want to put this one down so clear a little time to sit back and enjoy this engaging story.
I was provided with an advance copy of this book by the author and I am voluntarily offering my honest and unbiased review.
This was a good read with some very unusual things going on. When I started reading, I had to finish it to see what was going to happen with Norma Jean, Reg and the rest of the characters. Hope there are more books with these people in them.
This series gets better with every book. When Reg’s mother visits, Starlight falls ill and Reg struggles to find a cure. As with all Ms. Workman’s books, this one is brilliantly constructed and the prose flows easily, making reading a joy. I’m eagerly awaiting her next book. I received this book free and chose to make a voluntary, unbiased review.
