Love this author. Enjoyed every book in the series.
I was gifted a copy of this book and I voluntarily chose to review it. I loved this story. This is a well written story with great characters. I also loved the secondary characters. This was a quick easy read for me. I would encourage everyone to get this one. This is the 4th book in this series and it has gotten me wanting to read the others in this series.
I enjoyed this series.
What I liked:
The writing style
The characters
Part of a series: Veteran Movers
Standalone
HEA
I look forward to reading more from this author.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC.
Although I didn’t read the other books in this series, I got into the story line which focused on Smith and Erin. There were characters from previous books, and while I was curious to know more about them, they didn’t detract too much from the main story. I liked how Erin was trying to establish her independence, and she stirred up feelings in Smith that he wasn’t expecting. While they each had their own emotional hardships, their feelings for each other progressed in a sweet, angsty way. And trust Tilly to save the day with her matchmaking! I’d love to meet the others in the Veteran Movers series!
Steamy, funny, witty, heart breaking HEA. This book has it all. It was a roller coaster of emotions and had me wanting to just reach in and give them all a hug! Tilly and Smith’s sassy yet loving relationship was my favorite! Well written!
Delivered with a Kiss is the last story and conclusion to Marie Harte’s Vets on the Go! Series. We finally read about Smith and Erin in their journey to each other. Two wounded souls find solace in each other and grow stronger from each other in their lives. All of Marie’s trademark world-building style of scorching sex, sizzling chemistry, snarky humor, witty dialogue, family support, drama & real-life relatable events & emotions is in Delivered with a Kiss. There is something in this story that everyone can relate to on some level. Marie will take you on an emotional roller coaster ride and safely bring you to a hard-won realistic HEA. I was sad to see this series end, but Marie always brings her previous characters into her new stories as small supporting parts…so they never really go away. If you have not read her three previous books in this series, I highly recommend it. *I received an ARC for my honest review.
I enjoyed the ending of this series, the Veteran Movers by Marie Harte. Smith and Erin’s story will take you on an emotional rollercoaster ride. The series wraps up the continued mystery and answering any lingering question that you might have had.
I love this Veteran Movers series. I’ve been waiting to see how Smith and his brother/half brother deal with their famly situation. I did not think it was going to involve beating one another up and then tying someone down to get to the root of the matter. It was a strange change of pace, but it finally got down. Erin fit Smith to a tee, and I love all of Tilly the landlord’s interactions with all of them. She was very stubborn and opinionated, but when she decided they were hers, they were hers. I have to say, I really dislike Smith’s Aunt who he thought was his mother. She was the worst character I’ve seen in a while.
This was a heartwarming, sweet, well-written book. Erin moved to a new city and was dumped by her boyfriend. Smith, hired to move her belongings, helped her find a place to live. The book held my attention and I didn’t want to put it down. I enjoyed it and would recommend the book to others.
I loved this whole series. Each book was so entertaining and it helped escape the reality of 2020.
Delivered with a Kiss has a heroine who uproots her life for a man she thought she loved and a hero so down trodden I couldn’t help but infuriated on his behalf. Erin moves all the way from Kansas to Washington based on an ultimatum issued from her boyfriend Cody. When she arrives, her entire life shatters on Cody’s front lawn, and in front of Smith, the moving company employee. She doesn’t expect any kindness or assistance from the burly, scowling Marine standing beside her but then he surprises her.
Smith Ramsey has had a helluva past few weeks and seeing a pretty woman on the verge of collapse tops it right off. While his upbringing wasn’t anything to brag about, leaving her alone, defenseless, and with nowhere to live was not in his repertoire. Smith quickly jumps into action and secures Erin with housing in his apartment building and a part-time job assisting the landlady. Pretty soon the duo are dancing around each other while sparks fly and attraction begins to consume them.
There is a large amount of emotion the author poured into this book. Smith’s childhood was awful and after returning from his time in the Marine Corp, his life, which he thought couldn’t get any worse, actually does get worse. Much, much worse. He learns his mother isn’t biologically his and he has brothers. A struggle to stay afloat, Smith hides his feelings from everyone until it just about breaks him. This book tests the bonds between family members and between a man and woman. There is a reason communication is the key to any relationship and there is a serious lack of it throughout a good portion of the book.
Please note Delivered with a Kiss is the first book I’ve had the chance to read in Marie Harte’s Veteran Movers series. I typically read series books in order but wandered off the path for this one. I will be going back to the beginning and reading the rest of the series. That said, having never met the supporting characters from the first three books, I thought maybe I’d have a hard time figuring things out. That is not the case, as the author does a great job bringing the reader up-to-speed without taking away from the present events, couple, and situations. The supporting characters are unique in their own right and I enjoyed getting to know them along with Erin and Smith. I also love the way the author firmly lets the characters know that family isn’t just those with the same blood pumping through their veins. Family is anyone you want it to include.
Four and a half stars
Delivered with a Kiss by Marie Harte is the fourth and final book in her Veteran Movers series, about a moving company launched by vets, to employ vets, and give its owners a way to transition from military life. Smith Ramsey’s a newer employee, but a hard worker, and he’s juggling some personal concerns so he knows all about rough times when the client he’s moving hits a major roadblock.
Erin Briggs is humiliated when her boyfriend dumps her unceremoniously, in front of the mover, no less. But Smith’s kindness to her in that terrible situation is something she won’t forget.
Marie Harte writes Smith and Erin with love, and their story is full of heart and community. Ms Harte’s characterizations and plotting keep the pages turning as I’m laughing and smiling along with the gang. This series is a warm and funny and sexy one that is definitely going onto the keeper shelf.
Delivered with a Kiss is the fourth and final book in the Veteran Movers Series by Marie Harte and Smith’s story was a wonderful way to end this series. There had been some questions left unanswered in the previous 3 books so I was happy to see everything tied up and questions answered with this one. I have loved each and every one of these stories, but Smith’s was a heartbreaker for me. I loved how he and Erin helped each other and grew throughout the whole book. I love when a female lead learns to stand on her own two feet and allows herself to voice her own opinions and desires and Erin did that with Smith’s help. And it was just as enjoyable seeing Erin help Smith with his demons and shortcomings. A very well written and entertaining series.
I really enjoyed reading the last installment of the Veteran Movers series. I was sad to see it end.
This is my favorite of Marie Harte’s series, and this is my second favorite book in the series. That’s because I love Reid so much, but Smith is a close second. He has so much baggage to carry, and he answers some questions that Reid and Cash had left after their mother died. I liked the realistic family dynamic with the brothers and their cousin. I am so glad for Smith to get his HEA!
These guys are terrific, but we all know that the ladies make them better. Erin is the perfect match for Smith. It takes them a little bit to work that out because she is gun shy after her recent break-up. That leads to some misunderstandings, but those were natural in this context. I really enjoyed Erin and admired her grit.
I enjoyed seeing the first three couples some more and the cameos by other characters. They make this world feel so real when they cross paths like that. Tilly is a terrific character who provides humor and insight at the right times.
There is a lot going on in this book, and I gave it 4 stars the first time I read it. This second time, I knew where we were going, and I was able to enjoy it more and felt that I misunderstood a couple of things the first time. This book is definitely worth reading more than once, so I have given it 5 stars now.
Marie Harte is definitely one of my go-to authors. Her books always make me smile, even when they hit a sad note, and her characters are always read worthy.
I’ve loved the Veteran Movers series and Smith & Erin’s book was a great addition. Maybe it’s because the leading man is so like his brother, but Delivered with a Kiss is up there with Smooth Moves as my fave read of the 4 books.
Now, I do admit to not being the biggest fan of Smith Ramsey when we first encountered him, he seemed like he was just out to cause trouble for the veteran moving team, but then we found out more about him and my interest in discovering more was piqued. Reading his tale, I felt heart sore for the little boy that he was growing up and throughout the story the big guy changed my mind about him as a character!!
Erin Briggs was the perfect balm to the bruised heart and soul that Smith kept locked up tight. Having recently jumped into making a life altering decision because of a guy you could see that Erin needed time and space to see what road to travel next, but Smith caught her attention and she could see the person he was trying so hard to hide away from the world. Even though she didn’t want to find herself falling for the wrong guy again, who this time might break her heart, she set out to do her level best to make Smith believe he was all that she saw him to be…..
Add in a cantankerous, meddling, but lovable landlady and Smith’s determined, family and friends and you’ve got a great fun, engaging and heartwarming read that sadly sees this fab series coming to an end….
5* recommended read.
.25 stars–DELIVERED WITH A KISS with the fourth and final instalment in Marie Harte’s contemporary, adult VETERAN MOVERS erotic, romance series focusing on the men and women who work for Vets on the Go!-a moving company designed to employ former servicemen. This is Marine Smith Ramsey, and editor/you tube vlogger Erin Briggs’ story line. DELIVERED WITH A KISS can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty but I recommend reading the series in order for backstory and history between Smith, and the brothers he never knew.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Erin and Smith) DELIVERED WITH A KISS follows in the wake of Erin Briggs move fro Kansas to Seattle, a surprise move to surprise her boyfriend, a man who had moved on with someone else. With no place to go, or help to get her there Erin comes face to face with Vets on the Go mover Smith Ramsey, the man with whom Erin will fall in love. When Smith offers up a solution to her current dilemma, Erin finds herself working part time for an elderly woman whose acerbic and saucy personality hides a heart of gold. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Smith and Erin, and the potential fall-out as Smith’s issues of trust and extreme lack of self-esteem are at odds with his attraction and growing love for Erin Briggs.
Smith Ramsey is the product of an adulterous affair, and only recently discovered that the woman he thought was his other, was his aunt, and that the man he never knew, fathered other children including our story line hero. Working for Vets on the Go! would place Smith in the direct line of fire with his siblings, siblings he struggled to accept or love. Erin Briggs moved to Seattle in an effort to move on with her life, a life that no longer included her long-distance boyfriend. Meeting Smith Ramsay gave Erin a hope for the future but Smith struggled to accept anyone into his life, including the woman with whom he would fall in love.
The relationship between Smith and Erin is one of immediate attraction but a distinct lack of communication, and issues of self-esteem forced our couple to overthink their friendship, as well as their growing attraction that is constantly sabotaged by Smith’s inability to let go of the past. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense but I dislike the use of a certain four-letter word in my romance story lines, and in this case, the word was used as shock value as the heroine, as well, did not like the use of the word.
There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and energetic secondary and supporting characters including all of the previous story line couples including Smith’s brothers, Cash Griffith and Jordan Fleming (Smooth Moves #2), Reid Griffith and Naomi (The Whole Package #1); and their cousin Evan and Kenzie, and Evan’s mother (Aunt) Jane Griffith; Vets on the Go employees, Hector and Lafayette. We are introduced to Smith and Erin’s landlady Tilly Fine, her nephew Rupert, and friends Willie, firefighter Brad Battle; Erin’s ex-boyfriend Cody and his girlfriend; Smith’s ‘mother’ Margaret Ramsey.
DELIVERED WITH A KISS is a story of family and betrayal; acceptance and moving forward. Marie Harte reveals the man behind the mask of pain that for so long protected Smith from the life he had lived. The premise is emotional and entertaining; the characters are dynamic, broken, fun and forgiving; the romance is seductive and captivating. DELIVERED WITH A KISS answered the reader’s questions about the who, how and why of Smith Ramsay, and revealed the triggers that send a 6’5” Marine into a spiral of low self-esteem and a loss of control.
This series….every story has been SOOO GOOD and Delivered With a Kiss continues the separate but intertwined stories of the men (and woman) working for Vets on the Go!
Sam Ramsey has many demons of his own but has a big enough heart to help out client Erin Briggs when she is literally dumped by her boyfriend while trying to move into his home. Newly arrived from Kansas, Erin is quite lost in what to do next. Seattle isn’t cheap and Smith steps right up, finding a unit in the apartment complex he lives in, introducing her to the owner and landlord, Tilly (a spitfire of an older woman), who then agrees to rent a small unit to Erin at a reduced rate, in return for cooking meals and other tasks. Erin is grateful to both Smith and Tilly.
While both Smith and Tilly project a gruff exterior (Smith more than Tilly), Erin finds herself falling for both…Tilly as a grandmother figure and Smith as a kind, big hearted man despite his outward demeanor.
Hot sexy times mixed with a touching story of overcoming past hurts – this story is a winner!
Perfect story for Smith to finish the series! We finally get to see under Smith’s gruff and growly demeanor to who he is and why. Erin Briggs is perfect for him. And landlady Tilly just about stole the book! No one writes characters and interactions between them as great as Marie! I am a huge fan. I can’t tell you how delighted and satisfied I am with this story…it’s absolute perfection.
The Ramsey-Griffith brothers have had a turbulent history because of their parent’s love triangle and infidelity that spawned bitterness and rejection. We finally have the whole story of these three brothers childhood and their parents. Because of the love triangle hurt tuned to bitterness and rejection which led to Cash & Smith’s feelings of rejection. They turned into men that protected their hearts with a thick skin of growl and grumpiness with their huge formidable bodies. Smith’s self talk is that he’s unlovable, and trash as his mother threw him away. Smith we come to find out has a heart of kindness and love that he makes sure no one sees.
Erin Briggs has uprooted herself from Kansas to move in with her boyfriend Cody when she accepts his ultimatum for their continued relationship. Smith is the Vets On The Go moving man who is handling her stuff. Erin finds Cody has another girlfriend never expecting Erin to come and she dumps him on the spot. Smith is there offering comfort when she breaks down and offers her an apartment in his complex he knows just vacated. To get lower rent as she doesn’t have a huge income from her editing job for a few internet agricultural magazines she agrees to be cook and housekeeper for their landlady Tilly. Tilly is very much like Erin’s grandma back home, cantankerous and a real ball buster. Erin finds it comforting and not at all hard to deal with. And so we begin the evolution of Erin seeing into the Smith he hides and Smith slowly beginning to heal with acceptance and recognizing he’s loveable and valued by others and family.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
A great ending to this lovely series. A slow fall into love.
The whole premise of veteran service people working like this was one of the best ideas I have enjoyed reading about.
I really recommend reading the three previous books to get a feel for the dynamics between these men.
Loved Smith and how he finally owned his past, both emotionally and in his dealing with Meg and was able to move into his future with his true family by his side. The abuse he suffered as a child was disgusting. The fact he was so polite to Meg at the end just proved what a good guy he is.
Cannot say I loved Erin, I really liked her but didn’t think she was quite as honest and upfront as Smith in regards to her feelings. She purposely used the situation with the ex-boyfriend Cody, to misunderstand every time Smith tried to be serious about their relationship.
The way Ms Harte wrapped this up with the letter, photo and the no parent alive situation worked well for me.
Allen just came across as too weak of character to be the biological father of Cash and Smith.
Loved that the sweet tea party scene was mentioned.
This is my honest review of this book.
