JoleneHeʼs patient, kind, sweet and tender… with just enough swagger to make me absolutely weak in the knees. Absolutely nothing like my ex husband, and a role model Iʼd love my little girl Anna May to have for a father. But there is only one problem, he wonʼt fall in love. Not then, notnow and not ever.I tell myself to forget him. I tell myself this chemistry I feel is totally one sided all … one sided all these years weʼve danced around it. But then he shows back up out of the blue, sweeps me off my feet, steals mine and Anna Mayʼs heart without asking and still wonʼt promise to stay. Soon, he has me questioning if the demons I ran from in my past arenʼt safer than the future he canʼt, and wonʼt, promise me. And hell knows my past is a place I never dreamed Iʼd end up in again.
Troy
One word. Fear. Fear I wonʼt make it home. Fear Iʼll never make it back state side – and fear Iʼll never feel again the way Jolene Stewart makes me crave her next touch like Iʼm a fein needing my
next fix.
Sheʼs my kryptonite. My vice. The one thing that makes me secretly wish for tomorrows and forever afters when all Iʼve ever done is serve. Give without even a thought for my fellow man and country. But now, all I want is to stay with her and her daughter in this new world and home weʼve somehow created together.
But when her past comes calling and my next tour has me leaving the two girls I love more than
anything with the fear I wonʼt return, will she wait for me? Or will giving my heart away be worse than the fate that awaits me overseas?

Love of a lifetime at long last
Deliverance by Evelyn Montgomery an emotionally and action packed military romance. Troy is troubled, but cannot make himself stay away from the woman he could never forget. Jolene tried to move on, but her attempt was fraught with danger and nearly kills her.
The plot is a tennis match of emotions. Both of these characters tiptoeing around what they want and what they don’t think they can have. It seems as though fate has a plan that Troy needs to get on board with as they consistently encounter each other over a significant time period.
Overall, the heart overrules the head and their long time coming destined love of a lifetime is finally, finally set to rights with their perfect HEA.
I read an ARC of this book via Hidden Gems and voluntarily share my review.
This story had me from the first page! It is well written and packs a punch that will have your emotions all over the place. Troy and Jo met years ago. She captivates him and has his heart but being in the military he doesn’t want her to wait for him but Jo is captivated with him as well. When her ex gets out of jail and starts making waves, will Troy be able to keep his girls safe and out of harms way? This story will have you in their corner cheering them on to finding happiness! I am volunteering to leave a review for an honest review of this book.
Troy and Jo had an amazing summer together before his military careen sent them going separate paths. Jo went on to marry a monster who is sentenced to prison, for his heinous crimes, leaving Jo a hardworking and fiercely protective single mom who moves away to get a new start and to regroup. Fate brings Troy back into Jo’s life just when she needs him most, and he will protect and keep Jo and Anna May protected by any means. Troy is a broken man who has a fear of commitment, but will he overcome his fears? This is a beautifully written emotionally charged story which is heartfelt, and with danger, suspense, heartbreak, passion, and love which all leads to a steamy and all-consuming 2nd chance romance story. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

Deliverance by Evelyn Montgomery is the first book I have read by the author so I have to say that I was truly surprised by how good it was. I do wish that Troy would’ve made a commitment to Jolene and Anna May but all in all I’d give the book a solid 4.6 Stars.

When Troy ends up rescuing Jo from her ex-husband who has been paroled. So our hero comes to her rescue and she brings him home to meet Anna May her daughter. There will be their instant attraction that Jo and Troy will rekindle and Anna May will fall in love with him but with her ex-husband bent on revenge it will take everyone to save Jo from Brian in time? Will he be able to finally commit to his girls when Jo is injured badly?
Troy Young is home in Nashville on leave after a mission that went sideways badly. So seeing Jolene again is just what his wounded soul needs. This is a sweet romance even though it does have a darker edge in parts A book that draws you in from almost the first page and keeps you engaged until; you torn the last I absolutely loved Troy and Jolene(Jo)
Troy and Jo met and had one wonderful summer together but he walked away he knew his life as a top tier Seal wasn’t the type of life he should offer her no matter how much he wanted to Jo moved on and married Brian and they had a daughter but Brian is her worst nightmare and abusive man who ends up in Jail. Now Jo is trying to rebuild her life with her daughter Anna May and who should walk back into her life but Troy. When Brian returns and created trouble for her Troy steps up to protect her and Anne May but in the process he works his way back into her heart Now can she break down his walls and make him realise that it is OK to love no matter what his job his and it is her decision to take the risk he may never return
This was an ok read. Both Troy and Jolene have major baggage but that weigh them down from moving on. Most of the time they drove me crazy from their back and forth.
“Let me love you, Jo. Beautifully. Just the way I see you.”
This book….oh my goodness this book!!! The love story of Troy and Jolene touched my heart so dang much. There is nothing more romantic than how their story evolved. They met ten years ago and fell in love but Troy is enlisted in the military and tells Jolene not to wait for him and she does anyway. As chance would have it five years later they run into each other again and it is like those five years never passed them by and he does tell her to wait for him before he deploys again. Jo has no problem with that until she receives a letter from him telling her to not wait. She manages to pick up the pieces of her heart and start a new life. In the following five years both of these two endure tragedy so intense that they needed to find each other again even if they hadn’t realized it yet.
This is probably one of the most emotional books I have read in 2021. My heart physically hurt for Troy and the burden he carries…especially when I read the horrible events surrounding what pains him. He is a fierce protector and wants to love Jo and Anna May with all of his heart, and he does, but his head won’t allow it because he cannot promise he will come back to them after a deployment. Jolene’s life the last five years was so horrible having barely escaped being killed and yet she still has a reason to smile thanks to her daughter, and now Troy. She wants so desperately for him to open up to her because she knows his love for her runs as deep as her for him. She searches deep inside herself when faced with Troy leaving again and comes to the best conclusion she can live with. Troy’s stubborn streak almost causes him to lose the only woman he has ever loved.
Evelyn Montgomery completely nailed this story. There is suspense, happiness, joy, pain, and heartbreak and after all of that it wraps up by healing you heart at the beautiful HEA. I am a sucker for the terms “beautiful” and “darlin'” when a man is speaking them to their lady loves and there was no shortage of those. I know this is going to be a top recommendation to my reader friends/groups.
Military, second chance romance that ends with a HEA and an epilogue. Trigger warning for military scenes, kidnapping and domestic abuse.
So much heartbreak throughout this book but so many steamy scenes with all kinds of butterflies in the tummy. Troy has many emotional issues from serving as a Navy SEAL. However, he’s never forgotten the beauty that is Jolene.
Jolene has been through her own trails and tribulations over the years she’s been apart from Troy. Despite life throwing her back in front of her abusive ex, Troy has once again become front and center in her life.
Their chemistry is undeniable and their love is clearly visible. It’s a fine line the author walks between each characters feelings and emotional traumas. Definitely want to read the other character’s stories!
This is a well written, excellent story full of romance and suspense.
Highly recommend. Look forward to the rest of the series
I received a free copy of this book via Hidden Gems and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Things don’t work out perfectly and Jolene marries Brian, who at first was perfect, then things changed with Jolene taking her baby girl and gets as far away as she can while he’s in prison.
When Troy shows up, Jolene is happy catching up with him, remembering what they had until he ended things. When her ex shows up, what Troy sees makes him realises he needs to stay to make sure she’s safe, even though he wants more he can’t, he won’t put anyone through what he’s seen.
The more time they spend together the closer they get, leaving Jolene wonder can she change his mind and they could have something forever. Troy knows he’s not ready to walk away and maybe it’s time to put the past away but will Jolene’s past come back and destroy their plans.
This is the first book I have had the honor of reading for this author and boy did she take me on one heck of an emotional rollercoaster. The romance was raw, at times even gut wrenching… the intimate scenes were just plain …. then the character’s pasts were heartbreaking. I also have to commend the author on how she covered Troy’s past, his PTSD, through the flashbacks… it was just astounding. On a lighter note I also loved that the book was set largely in TN, being a TN girl myself I love reading books set in places I have walked!
If there is anything I would change…. I did want more of Jolene’s past with Brian, more than just the little piece told in the final fight scene, if that explained more and maybe more interactions with him would have built more suspense. I finished the book in a day, but if there was more suspense and maybe more fight scenes with that sexy seal, I would have finished it even faster!
Loved this book! It’s a great page-turning story with wonderful characters and a beautiful romance.
Jo and Troy met a decade ago and have reconnected again 5 years ago, but afterward he deployed he begged her to move on, so she tried. Now she’s a single mom running from her ex husband. Her past is coming with a vengeance and Troy will do everything in his power to save her and her daughter, no matter the cost!
Highly recommend!
