I’m the kid your parents warned you about… Eighteen months in prison or doing time at Oceanside Academy.Reform school has met its match in me, even if it is full of young offenders. Thieves, graffiti writers, drug runners and other petty criminals reside within the walls, and I’m just like them. But what they didn’t tell me was that I’d be one of only a handful of girls in a hoard full of boys. … in a hoard full of boys. It’ll take more than just street smarts to keep my wits about me.
Everyone here has a chip on their shoulders, and I’m no different. Mine’s one of the biggest, that’s why they call me Asia because I have one as large as a continent.
Rules or not, these bad boys are about to discover I’ve earned my label for reason…
I’m the biggest misfit of them all.

Delinquent is a raw and gritty, new adult contemporary romance from this very talented author. I really don’t know what to say, aside from that this is completely different from her previous books. This time, she focused on a story that isn’t always featured; the stories of a young woman like Asia and her group of young men. Those “troubled” teens under a faulty system and whose voices and hardships were mostly not heard. I like it when an author tries to give a fresh, not often seen, realistic kind of story that somehow reaches out to you, makes you see things from a different perspective and makes you aware that these sorts of things happen.
Another thing, this author likes to keep me on my toes and second guessing where the story will go. This drives me wild and loves her work even more so. I like Asia’s character. Sure, her attitude may be abrasive and rude most of the time to everyone but those she holds dear to her heart. She developed a hard shell to protect her from any disappointments and judgments that comes her way. I admire her strength, her will to survive and still maintain her humanity. I liked the dynamics between Asia and the guys. I’m excited to see how their relationship unfold from the one we’ve seen from Symphony. Definitely a must read and can’t wait to see how it will all go done after the way book 1 ends.
*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.
Paige has created one incredible new series if this book is anything to go by. We meet Asia a girl who grew up as part of the system for the most having to survive however she can. As a talented graffiti artist she gets arrested and after going to court is sent to what is pretty much a school for juvenile delinquents hence the Academy of Misfits fitting so very well. We are taken on a heart wrenching journey of her first days adapting to it all. Man is it way intense but so engrossing you won’t be able to put it down. I totally loved it so I give it 5/5 stars.
The end of Symphony introduced readers to Alicia, aka Asia, and her men and whetted my curiosity about these new characters and what had happened in their lives. This book is the beginning of their story. Asia is a kick butt heroine who is not going to put up with much of anything. Her life has been difficult from the day she was born, and has only become more difficult now that she has found herself mixed up with two different gangs and being placed at Oceanside Reform School. Everything Asia has done has been on her terms, and she isn’t going to let reform school stand in that way. She loves fiercely and protectively and will do anything for those that she loves, even endure the craziness that becomes Oceanside. Eastern, her best friend and almost love, supports her in the way that only someone who has been there through everything can. Sonny is the trickster who tries to stay out of trouble, but who is a constant support for Asia as she starts at Oceanside. Ford and Camden are rival gang leaders who are both enamored with Asia, but don’t necessarily want to admit it. I love the dynamics between Asia and her guys, from her gang leaders to her best friend to the one who makes her laugh, each one works to create an interesting bond. Bea Paige has created a world and characters that make you want to become part of their world. The reintroduction of old friends also makes me want to continue reading this series to find out what happens next. I cannot wait for the next installment in this series.
This is an academy book. It’s also a bullymance. It’s also an RH. Those have been done before, sure..but they haven’t been done like THIS.
I read the blurb, saw the cover and thought “yep..I need this in my life!” And you guys..it’s just honestly such a good book. It doesn’t read or feel like what’s out there right now. It’s just..more. You’ve got your female lead who is unapologetic with her loyalty and devotion to her friend(s) and surrogate family. Honestly I loved that about her, so so much!
While this is an RH and it’s all about the #whychoose — I definitely have a favorite and hot damn I can’t wait to experience more of him in book 2!
If you’ve read bullymance, academy and RH books before in the past and are thinking “okay, it’s just one more of the same..” I’m here to tell you that it is NOT more of the same. It is SO MUCH MORE. It’s better than you’re imagining it to be. It’s better than others you’ve read in this genre. It’s just, MORE. You need to read it. You really, really, realllyyy do.
No spoilers of any kind included.
So all I’m going to say about Delinquent is I thought it was a good read and I’ll leave it at that because if I say anymore I’ll be giving away spoilers and I don’t like to do that in my reviews.
But it’s a yes I do recommend this book because it’s a pretty good story to climb into and get lost within the pages.
Asia is a graffiti artist, and has been taking care of herself, fo the most part, since she was a kid. She doesn’t rely on or trust anyone, except a couple core people. She is anti-gang, but finds herself basically the focus of two gangs after she lands herself in the Academy of Misfits. Paige really was able to capture the street mentality that kids like Asia have. I liked that Asia was a strong character, and really holds her ground with her beliefs. I can’t wait to see what happens in book 2, and see how Asia and her guys relationships develop 🙂
Asia is perfection in all of her gritty, angsty youthful glory.
Paige doesn’t just write characters and their stories she crafts them. I’m awed by her ability to transport us to such as she does in delinquent.
This an experience rather than anything I can tell you. All I can say is my experience was exceptional, so take the time to travel through your own as Paige’s words transport you.
Asia is such a strong female character. She takes no crap from anyone and is fiercely loyal. The guys presented are so intriguing. I can’t wait to see how the relationships unfold.
New to me author, I think this book was introduced through another authors newsletter. I was drawn to the cover, intrigued by the blurb and bought a copy. There was something about Delinquent that pulled me in, I couldn’t wait to get into it. The authors immersed me into the life on a troubled teenager, both the mannerisms and language were real…not forced, but delivered an I don’t care attitude. Not knowing the authors maturity, I think she did an absolute stellar job of portraying these kids.
I loved the storyline, the twists, the secrecy and that these young people tried their best to guard themselves from further hurt. Not all of the characters, but some were starting to let their guard down and show their true colours. This book delivered an awesome read and threw in some life lessons. My heart hurt for these kids and I can’t wait to read Reject.
I love the characters in this book. And the world they are in has sucked me in completely. I spent most of the book guessing what they were up to, what the characters were hiding and what was going on behind the scenes. I have so many questions….so many questions that I now need answers to….bring on the next book!
Wow I had no idea which way this book was going to go. It…was….awesome! I’m still not sure but goodness gravy I’m totally sucked in! I love how strong Asia is and that she does back down even though inside she isn’t alway confident. I cannot wait to see what happen with the dynamics with all of the Boyd’s I get the feeling that they all know each other. There’s definitely a secret here somewhere. I can’t wait to figure it out in book 2!
Wonderful store with vividly described characters and a plot that pulls you in and keeps you hooked until the very end. The main character comes from a very difficult background, but has never let that get her down. And the people she meets along the way are varied and you find yourself wanting to know their stories as well. It is not a light and happy book (although it has its moments), but very well written and well worth the read. I can’t wait to see where the story goes from here.
What an amazing read, I’m shocked at the accuracy of which Bea was able to portray street life for young people. The story is gritty and full of characters that pull at your heart strings. I fell in love with these characters and their difficulties. The ending was perfect, unexpected and left me needing to know what happens next. Can’t wait for the next book!
Ok ive just finished this book and i have to remind myself that this book is actually about wayward teens because flaming hell it doesnt read like it. Theyre teenagers living adult lives with adult consequences. Asia (the MFC) has had a lot of difficulties in her life that leads her to being put into Oceanside Academy otherwise known as the Academy of Misfits. A last resort before prison is an option. Life in this Academy is not all warm and welcoming. Its full of gang members, bullying and violence so its not the best place to be stuck in especially for Asia. Who seems to attract trouble to her even when shes trying to avoid it. Big trouble comes in the form of Eastern (her friend?), Camden (a guy who she instantly hates and he her), Ford and Sonny. As you guessed it they bring their own complications not all of them welcome. Fan-flaming-tastic is all i can say about this book. Id happily give this give it 10 stars if i could!!!
Omg I love this book I mean its everything I need in a good read , action , some steaminess , fighting , anger , lust , a little of love , and a whole lot of attitude and spunk Bea has outdone herself this time this has to be one of my favourite books of hers and it also mentioned those gorgeous freed brothers and I hope we get to hear more about them in the next book I read this one in Two hours straight , didn’t sleep properly until the am as just couldn’t put the dam kindle down to sleep it’s captivating , engrossing and just addicting love it love it love it
Wow!!! I absolutely adore Asia. This story is so fantastic from word one. I love the uniqueness of the guys and their connections to Asia. It’s rare in RH that the guys aren’t a group from the start. This is so great with how each relationship has started and is forming. This series is going to break my heart. I know it and there’s no way around it. And even better, I have no idea how this is going to go or how it can even work out with them all. Damn, this was so good! This series will definitely be one of my favorite rides.
I loved every single thing about this story. It’s fun, interesting, emotional, and incredibly well written. It’s the kind of story that you just sink into and forget that it’s not real life.
Asia is fierce, fiery, sassy, so smart, and so very strong. She’s got a huge heart hidden under layers and layers of a hardness that comes from a rough life. As she gets a final chance at Oceanside Academy and from the moment she arrives, the challenges she faces and the relationships she begins to form make for riveting reading.
As the ending of book 1 comes to a close, we got an ending that completed the book and left me eagerly awaiting book 2.
Yes! I freaking loved this book! Love/hate Camden!!! He Makes me so angry!!! Asia is such a fierce character! Love how she stands up for herself no matter what! Can’t wait to see more from Ford, Sonny, and Eastern. I have a feeling this story is just going to keep getting better
I’ve had this one in my TBR for a while now, having read all the Academy of Stardom books I’ve now been reading Bea Paige’s backlist. She is one of my favourite one click authors. I love the gritty, realistic characters she brings alive on the page and the stories she weaves, which have you on the edge of your seat. This is the beginning of this series, and the characters are young, so don’t expect them to be jumping into bed with each other. That’s not to say it’s without steam because it’s certainly got that going on. It’s one of those books where you know your heart is going to go through some trauma before you get your HEA, which no doubt won’t happen until the final book in the series. I definitely recommend this one, get yourself comfortable because you won’t want to put it down. I have, of course, downloaded book two. I need to know what happens to Asia and her boys.
This is a contemporary RH romance trilogy based around a reform school. The FMC is tough as nails & takes everything life throws at her. She is sent to the reform school instead of juvie & gets stuck between 2 gangs; neither of which she wants any part of. She is tormented & harassed while sticking to trusting no one. None of her harem are existing friends so it’s fun to see them come together for her. Although the book has some spice i think some of those scenes were lacking some depth
