Favorite Holiday Read!
When fate is meant to be, and with a little help from Thomas Meenan, two souls are perfectly aligned. Delicious is beautifully written with a cover that completely shows the tale of this story. I absolutely love Della’s strength and persistence to achieve the things she sets out to conquer. Cybill Cain continues to hold the title of ‘All Time Favorite Authors’! I can’t wait to see what’s next!
Let me start off by saying that I’d never heard of Cybill Cain a month before this was published. I happened upon her first book, Poker Face, and liked it. Then I read Haunted, and liked that. Now, here I am at Delicious and I’m not sure I can do this story justice. I’ve read the other reviews on other sites and I’m scratching my head. Maybe my personal experiences spoke to me too loudly while I was reading this book, but my take on it is that this is the kind of love every single one of us wants in our lives. All consuming, love at first sight, never-ever-leave love. This book made me laugh and cry, in various places throughout. I loved it when Della knew she was being watched and tried to get him to surrender and come to her. I felt her sorrow in my bones when he was afraid. But more importantly, I felt an emotional connection with the fictional characters, and I’m not sure how any one else feels, but when I feel that connection, it means the author has gone above and beyond to write a book that is very very good. This book took me places I’d forgotten about.
Cybill wrote a story that could have been the setting for tragedy, instead this turned out to be one of the most joyous books I’ve read in a long time. It made me feel happy in the end; glad to see these two get together and stay together. I know its fiction, but fiction is escape. I read a lot of books in the course of a year and I have a list of “go-to” authors that are always in the front of my Kindle. Cybill Cain joined that list (and she’s up there with Patterson, King, Brown, Red Phoenix, Scarlett Avery, and Victoria Vail – you see, I don’t read just indie authors, the Big Five get my time too). Because she was able to spin a story that held my interest through every page, because the story was worth the telling, and the happy ending was definitely worth it, this book deserves far more praise than just a five star rating on Amazon. But since I’m not able to do more than that, Cybill forgive me, but you’ll just have to settle for five stars and know that they all have tails to them (like Ebay) and I’m mighty glad you decided to become a writer.
Loved this story a lot! Della & James are perfect for each other! This is a great Beauty & the Beast tale, and the way Della gets through to James is … delicious. ; )
