This was the first historical romance I read by Sherry Thomas. I was on a plane, approaching my landing as I reached the final chapters. Never have I been so happy when the the pilot announced the flight needed to circle around before being cleared to land. I was so deep in her world that I didn’t want the story to end… yet couldn’t stop …
Sherry Thomas is one of the best historical romance authors ever. Ever. It isn’t just her phenomenal prose – you can sample that prose in any of her other genres – it’s her unique brand of angst. You feel it sift from the page into your brain and slowly settle into your blood and bones. Delicious has to be my favorite Sherry Thomas HR. There is a …
A feast for the senses.
The complicated back stories of the characters are revealed piecemeal. My biggest shock was right at the beginning: she was mistress to a nobleman, who is NOT the hero, and although their sexual relationship ended long ago, she is still employed in his home as his amazingly talented chef? How did she get here, and why?! It takes a long while for …
This book was Delicious. I’ve found a new great author.
Hide and seek Victorian style. These two know each other and don’t know it. They love each other but won’t acknowledge it. The past weighs on them heavily and in the end means nothing at all. Thomas does a great job of misdirection which is pretty much what the characters do, too. Worth the ride.
So well written I probably gained five pounds reading about Vera’s French cooking. I loved that love persevered through long, lonely years and the the near discovery of her identity had me losing sleep reading through the wee hours. Read this book!
The author describes food and love with the same passion, making the reader hungry for tasty Victorian culinary delicacies and proper Victorian love.
