I was going to ruin her. I knew it the moment I laid eyes on her. She was too naive, too innocent. I would wrap her in the darkness of my world till she no longer craved the light… only me. I should walk away, leave her clean and untouched… but I won’t. I hold her delicate heart in my scarred fist and I have no intention of letting go.***It all started with a book… doesn’t that sound crazy?… a book… doesn’t that sound crazy?
For your entire world to come crashing down around you over research for a book?
But that is what it felt like the moment I met him.
My world tilted. Nothing made sense any more.
I only know he became like a drug to me… and I shook with need till my next fix.

All I can say is, GIVE ME MORE! Delicious, and decadent, and oh so delightful.
Quinn travels from San Francisco to LA to pursue an idea for a book that she hopes will be her chance to be a best selling author. Her goal is to get some information on the infamous drug dealer, Axel Rye. These two seem to be the typical opposites attract since other than their looks, they don’t seem to have anything in common but the attraction is immediate. The story shows how their relationship seems to change each of them as Quinn becomes more comfortable in Axel’s lifestyle while being with Quinn slowly changes Axel to where he wants more of the “normal” life that Quinn represented. There are secrets that Quinn is keeping and then their are issues with past women from Axel’s life that eventually insert a wedge in their relationship. This was a great story even though it This was not the story I thought I would be reading but turned out to be so much better. I can’t wait to read the next “story” where we get to find out about Felicity, Quinn’s best friend and I hope there are some glimpses of Axel and Quinn’s life after Delicate Scars.
I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest and totally voluntary review.
Drew me in with attention to characters’ lives and emotions
I loved everything about this awesome book but, then again every book I have read by the talented Alta, I have fallen in love. Axel and Quinn’s story was so beautifully written that I wanted to take my time reading it.
This book hits all the buttons. Sensually dramatic with angst and searing emotion all wrapped around the muscles of one insanely hot alpha male!
Loved this steamy read!
Alta is one classy lady who isn’t afraid to get dirty. Mr Dirty Rich is the nexus of her talents, combined into a filth-tastic read.
When Axel met Quinn he felt an instant attraction to her. The chemistry between these two was crazy hot. When I read the blurb I thought this was going to be a dark gritty read. This is my first book by this author and I was expecting it to be even darker but it wasn’t too deep. I liked that we went on a journey with Quinn through the world of drugs, night clubs and partying. The story takes you through so many emotions. This was a great book I just wish it had more grit and dirt to it. I do love the well written story line, plot and the well developed characters.
“Our relationship isn’t just delicate, it’s scarred!”
Quinn Sullivan was out to make a name for herself as a writer . . . her chosen topic is the dark culture of drugs, booze and sex found at the nightclub scene. Because this world is polar opposite of how she grew up, Quinn takes a job bar tending at a trendy club hoping to have some one on one experiences with the members . . .especially Axel Rye, king of the nightclub party, supplier and all around playboy.
Axel Rye seems to be living the high life . . . literally being paid to show up to clubs and party hard with his entourage. However, deep down, he is ready for something more. When he first makes contact with the lovely Quinn, he feels he may have found that and slowly introduces her to his world.
Axel and Quinn have instant and amazing chemistry. The author has done a great job of pulling together two people who seem completely opposite, yet who fit just right together. In what I see as somewhat ironic, while Axel is making decisions to begin cleaning up his life, Quinn falls deeper and deeper into a world of drugs and partying, almost losing her identity at times.
What seems to be an amazing relationship, however, all comes crashing down . . . as “half-truths are still f*cking lies.” Quinn must learn to live with the consequences of keeping secrets from Axel and is forced to either move on or fight for what she truly wants, and Axel must determine whether he was being used or was being loved by the woman he trusted, who betrayed him with her dishonesty.
This book is a complex relationship journey, as no one is truly as they seem on the surface. Emotions run deep. Decisions and even indecisions can have a lasting effect on those you care about. Alta Hensley did a fabulous job of creating unique characters with true depth to their personalities. She shows both the light and dark sides of a relationship and how a lie can twist what seems strong into something delicate and scarred.
A fantastic read! 4.5 stars.
The story of Quinn and Axel. Quinn want to write a book about the dark and gritty club scene in LA and who better to introduce her into this then the ultimate bad boy Axel. What neither of them expert is to fall in love, fast and hard. But Quinn has a secret and what that secret comes out will there love prove strong or delicate? I have to admit I want to slap Quinn on her head a few times for the choices she made. And I felt sorry for Axel, he was stuck in this lifestyle and image, but had no idea how to get out. It shows that money doesn’t buy happiness.
