The uncle is up for a promotion to one star general so he has much to lose! Your heart will go out to Jaime for the pain she has suffered. Chandler Bolton is a retired veteran who works with troubled veterans and has a therapy dog, Aslan. You will love Chandler who is one of the most caring, patient men ever! He and Jaime work with a young girl who has been abused by her mother’s boyfriend. Is Jaime being watched? Has someone been in her apartment? Did someone try to run her down? Delayed Justice is one of the best books I have read! I recommend this book by Cara Putman to anyone who enjoys suspense. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Thomas Nelson through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own
What a journey you are about to begin as you turn these pages, now this is the third book in this series, but they can all stand alone, with some recurring characters.
With this story, actually there are three stories here, in a way related, but different, and you will become engrossed in all, and want answers, and hope all these characters will survive, you will soon care a lot about them.
There are some very deep subjects here, and you will be jumping with fear, and then you will fall in love with a beautiful, smart dog. I wanted to get to the end of the book to know all the answers, but at the same time I didn’t want to leave, a real page-turner.
I received this book from the publisher Thomas Nelson, and was not required to give a positive review.
Delayed Justice was an outstanding novel that dealt with a very difficult subject in such a tactful yet affirming manner. Jaime Nichols is a young woman, abused as a child by a close relative, who after many years has decided to seek justice against her abuser. Her timing is not the best and it appears that the man will not stop at anything to prevent the truth from coming out. Could Jaime lose everything she has worked so hard for or will she gain what matters most?
Although this novel was sometimes difficult to read because of the subject matter, I loved the way it was handled by the author for a number of different reasons. The way Jaime worked with Chandler and his dog Aslan to help a young girl who had also been abused was a wonderful example of how another person with similar experiences can help. I also loved how Chandler’s patience and tenderness broke through Jaime’s walls to help her along her own road to healing. And let’s not forget the part The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe played in the story. Jaime’s supportive group of friends was also a major plus. It was so encouraging to see how they stood beside her and lovingly helped her through a difficult period.
Delayed Justice has everything I am looking for in a good read and the author put it all together in an amazing blend of danger, action, suspense, and a tender romance woven together with compassion and faith. Who could ask for more? I highly recommend this novel as well as all Cara Putman’s previous books. I will eagerly await her next one.

Imagine learning at a young age that you cannot trust those who should be most trustworthy. The ramifications of such a travesty will follow you for the rest of your life. But will they define you, or will you rise above? Jamie has carved out a career as a lawyer, working in the Public Defenders office, trying to help bring justice to those who need it most. Is it possible that she will experience some of that justice for herself or will she be afraid of the shadows forever?
An incredible legal thriller that shows the importance of learning to trust again – God, friends and even family. This very well written book keeps you on the edge of your seat and will have you watching the shadows whenever you go out!

Delayed Justice, the third book in the Hidden Justice series by Cara C Putman is a story that lures the reader in immediately and doesn’t let up. Even though part of a series, this book can easily be read as a stand-alone story as the author has filled in enough backstory that the reader is not left with a lot of questions wondering who characters are and what has happened in the past. In Delayed Justice, readers follow the painful journey of Jaime, a victim of childhood sexual abuse, as she pursues legal action against the perpetrator. The emotional tension and drama are intense as Jaime’s difficult and crushing past collides with her unknown future. Putman does an excellent job with the sensitive and devastating subject of sexual abuse, never explicit and yet accurate in the depiction of the emotional and life-changing aftermath. Deep scars have left Jaime with a burden that she has carried alone for years. Will she allow her friends and family to help carry lighten her load? “Maybe she didn’t have to walk with a pronounced limp of brokenness the rest of her life”. She has felt abandoned by God since childhood and as a result, her journey to faith is not a simple one, even as she senses His tug on her life. The story is multilayered with several other broken characters and the author expertly intertwines their stories into Jaime’s story. Two interesting factors in the story were the use of comfort dogs for children who have had traumatic events in their lives and the information regarding Veteran centers to help soldiers readjust to life at home after a tour of duty. Delayed Justice is a poignant and heartbreaking story and yet it is filled with hope, hope that is found in family and friends and the blessed hope that is found as one places one’s faith in a God who is present and is at work in our lives even when we cannot see or feel Him.

DELAYED JUSTICE is book three in the Hidden Justice series by Cara Putman. This book deals with sexual abuse a topic that so many deal with today. So many keep quiet afraid to say anything. This is a very powerful and intense story that is bound to capture your attention the whole way through this story.
Delayed Justice
The book definitely got my attention from the start. Kinda spooky of how it was so similar to things happening today in real life. Jaime who is now in her late twenties finally gets brave enough to press charges against her uncle for something that happened when when she was eight. Of course, that is only beginning of her braveness.
Chandler and her meet through their pets and find out they are neighbors. She has a cat and he has a dog. His dog plays a big role in the story. It always brings so much to the story to have pets and how much they serve a purpose in our lives.
Their is a lot of other characters in the book, Jaime friend Carolyn was so special. Everyone needs a friend like her. There is a lot going on in the story, you will definitely find the book very exciting and interesting.
I received an complementary copy of the book from the publisher through Celebrate Lit. I was not required to write an positive review.
Delayed Justice is a well written story that is gripping and intense from the beginning. From the 21 years earlier page to the initial page of the book I knew this would be a true to life story of what we are seeing in our society today. Attorney Jamie Nichols had suffered abuse by her Uncle Dane when she was young and finally had the strength, determination, and courage to seek legal action against him. Cara Putnam’s legal experience brought reality to readers of what young survivors of sexual abuse suffers emotionally from their victimization. This remarkable tale with hero Chandler Bolton working with veterans and his therapy dog, Aslan, brought Jamie and him working with a current child victim. There is never a dull moment as Chandler is receiving threatening calls and messages from an unknown veteran suffering greatly, Jamie with her charges against Uncle Dane and feeling like she is being watched, threatened and life changing courses for her. This story is filled with fast paced action, realism, legal proceedings, and the inner working of offenders’ minds where they go on with their life without thinking of their actions until confronted with charges by the judicial system. There’s a faith element, healing, new beginnings and romance interwoven into this legal thriller suspense. Readers of suspense will want to read this last installment of Putnam’s Hidden Justice series to gain a deeper understanding of what survivors of abuse, the effects of combat on veterans, the legal process of charges being filed and the benefit of a therapy dog for children to heal.

Delayed Justice by Cara Putman is the third book in the Hidden Justice Series. Jaime Nichols is a public defender in Virginia. It has been twenty years since her uncle, Dane Nichols abused her, and Jamie has decided it is the time to press charges against him. The next day it is announced that Dane is up for a promotion to a one star general and Dane is not going to let Jaime ruin his career. Dane is a powerful man with considerable influence. Jaime will have to be strong to battle this formidable foe, so she can put the past to rest.
Chandler Bolton is a veteran who now works for the Department of Veteran Affairs helping veterans reacclimate to society. Chandler has also had his dog, Aslan trained as a comfort dog to help abused children. Tiffany Ange has been assaulted by her mother’s boyfriend and Aslan is just the help Tiffany needs to help tell her story to the police. Chandler encounters Jaime in his apartment building one day and he is intrigued. The two of them end up working together to help Tiffany testify against her abuser and recover from her horrible ordeal. Can Chandler break through the wall Jaime has built around her heart? Will Jaime be able to have a relationship after what she has experienced? How will the case against Dane turn out? Discover what happens in Delayed Justice.
The author did her research for Delayed Justice. She captured the legal aspects of the judicial system and I like that we get to experience both sides (prosecution and defense). It was interesting to learn about therapy/comfort dogs and how they assist victims. I found the court scenes to be realistic along with the situations with Tiffany and her mother. Jaime is a wounded woman who has not gotten over what happened to her when she was eight years old. She believes in the justice system and wants to help those who cannot afford a lawyer. Jaime has been in therapy for years and feels she is now strong enough to handle the court battle. She has the support of good friends from college who understand and are a part of the legal system. The author did a remarkable job at handling a delicate and difficult subject. Chandler is a strong male character who is the hero of the story. He comes across as a knight in shining armor protecting little Tiffany and Jaime. I appreciated his Christian values and how he expressed them to Jaime. Her journey towards Christ did not seem realistic. It felt contrived and rushed. The pace of Delayed Justice was slow which can be attributed to the detailed writing. I recommend reading the Hidden Justice Series in order. I had not read the previous two books and I felt like I was plopped into the middle of a book when I started reading Delayed Justice. The book begins to make sense as I get further into it. Jaime has complaints issued against her per her boss, but readers were not given any details (who issued them, what are they regarding). The same thing happens when she receives an ethics violation (I want details). Delayed Justice is a romantic suspense. While I felt the romance, I did not feel the suspense part. I wanted to feel the scare and anxiety. My rating for Delayed Justice is 3 out of 5 stars. Fans of the Hidden Justice Series will not want to miss Delayed Justice to find out how Jaime’s story plays out.

This was quite an eye opener book for me. The story reveals the trauma experienced by children who have been molested in childhood and how it affects them into adulthood. Jamie was a victim of sexual molestation by her uncle. As an adult, she now feels she is strong enough to press charges against him. This is the story of Jamie’s journey. I recommend this book to everyone. It is the third in the series. But can be read as a stand alone book.
I was given this book by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated in any way.
A highly skilled storyteller, Cara Putnam presents the final story in her Hidden Justice series. With each novel I’ve read in the series, I find my thinking this is the best one yet! Little did I know that Delayed Justice was coming and this one would garner emotions that ran the gamut of fear and anger to grief to jubilation.
Jaime Nichols is a defense attorney, a good one with impeccable integrity and work ethics. Jaime is also wounded, deeply wounded by the sexual abuse at the hands of an uncle at a young age. After years of intense therapy, Jaime believes herself ready to press charges against the man who robbed her of her childhood.
When Jaime meets Chandler Bolton, owner and trainer, of a very special dog named Aslan, they find themselves working together to help a young girl, recently abused, to find her voice. As Aslan helps the young victim begin the road to healing, Chandler realizes that Jaime, too, is hiding deep hurt. There is attraction between them, Chandler knows it will take time for Jaime to allow her walls to come down. Aslan is the perfect therapy dog for Jaime.
As the two work together, Jaime learns that filing the charges against her uncle will not go quite as smoothly as she had hoped. Chandler, a retired veteran, is a counselor working to re-establish marital and family relationships after the return of a military member after a long mission. Weird things are happening, threatening things and Chandler is completely mystified.
Focused on the endangered young girl, both are distracted and not really paying attention to their own life. With Aslan’s help, Jaime and Chandler set about seeing the girl’s abuser prosecuted and imprisoned, ensuring her safety.
Delayed Justice is a fast paced, timely novel. With the emotional highs and lows, with accompanying tears and celebration, it seems that to use the word enjoyable just isn’t quite the right word. Delayed Justice is definitely a worthy novel worth every minute the author spent writing it, and every minute I spent reading it.
I received a complimentary copy of this book via Netgalley and am not required to write a positive review. All thoughts and opinions, therein, are solely my own.
Where have I been that only now, I am reading a book by this author?! I was riveted to my seat as the author led me through this intricate plot with subplots sprouting up to further engage me and make it impossible to tear my eyes away from the pages. There is so much depth to the characters with the main two being wounded souls who were determined to stand up and speak up not only for themselves but for those who felt that they had no voice. This is an emotionally charged story that due to its subject matter does have some possible triggers, if you are able to read it though you are in for an amazing journey.
