One love. One destiny. But it only takes one person to bring the house of cards tumbling down… became the man she always knew he would be, and the heat between them quickly became unbearable. Despite the promise she made to herself, she felt the walls to her heart start to crumble and began to fall all over again.
However, things aren’t the same as they once were. Cadence is the driving force behind a non-profit organization where she handles each case with the determination of a shark. Fitz is known as Washington’s fixer. He is the CEO for a public relations firm—one that represents the politicians who fight against everything Cadence stands for. What do they say about opposites attract?
Finding themselves at a crossroads, Fitz needs to decide if going against his father is worth pursuing a second chance with Cadence. One wrong move and his reputation could be obliterated. For Cadence, she needs to let go of her secrets and forgive Fitz for leaving her alone all those years ago. But more importantly, she needs to decide if sacrificing her values is worth being with the only man she has ever loved.

This book is the conclusion to Cadence Untouched ……17 years later. This books explains where and what the characters have been doing since they last saw each other and thankfully each has grown since then. Written with the POV for both Fitz and Cadence you get a great perspective to fall for these two and wish them a HEA. Glad I read this sequel.
What an emotional ride!! This book takes place 17 years after the first book, Cadence Untouched. Fitz and Cadence are both living in the same city, but haven’t run into each other or spoken to each other in 17 years, not since he left her and married someone else, breaking her heart and his. But one bump in the park, and it’s like they were never apart. I don’t want to Give anything away, but I’ll just say this,,, get this series!!!!
True love, and second chance
A nice finishe to the duet. It’s was great to see Fritz and Cadence get their HEA. It was a long time in coming.
This book takes us through the 17 years that Caden and Fitz were separated and the present.
I’m very happy with the direction this book took.
This duet are the first books I have read by this author and I enjoyed them.
They are very sweet stories. There is a little heat in them but nothing over the top.
I love second chance romance books and this book does not disappoint. Set 17 years after the first book you are swept back into the love and affection that these two characters have for each other and the anticipation of what would happen next almost killed me. I loved this book and the easy floss between Fitz and Cadence and the HEA was well worth the wait.
17 Years after Cadence and Fitz spend the summer together at her parents summer camp, they meet again in Washington DC.
Cadence runs a non profit agency and Fritz owns a PF firm. They reconnect and there feelings for each resurface.
Cadence has a secret that she has been hiding from Fitz for 17 years.
She is not sure if Fitz will ever forgive her for not telling him that they have a daughter.
Oh my, this book is amazing! Warning…you will need tissues. It’s a second chance romance and secret baby, a twofer. Cadence and Fitz meet 17 years after the first book ended and their chemistry is still there. This book has a secret baby, corrupt politicians, people in need, an evil father, two kids who don’t know they’re half siblings and love.
Ok so must read the first book before this one. You will not be sorry. I loved how these two got back together and how their children knew each other before they found each other again, was crazy. I think the author was smart in the way she wrote this 2nd book. I was not disappointed, I just wished it could go on to a third one..
This was the perfect ending to the Cadence Duet! I love second chance love stories but this is by far one of my favorites!
This is a perfect ending to this duet! I loved the first book when it came out so o I had to listen to this one as soon as it was released as well. Cadence and Fitz really have to go through some trials to get where they are in life and then we’re lucky enough to run into each other again. Although there were still some very tough times after finding each other again we are all lucky to see that they made it to their HEA in the end. This duet is a must listen to anyone who loves first love and second chance romances.
Narration on this book was AMAZING! This team of narrators work so well together and made the story come to life in a whole new way.
The conclusion to this beautiful 2nd chance love story will have your heart in twists! The 2nd book left our girl finding out she was pregnant was a guy she couldn’t be with bc of his previous obligations but that doesn’t stop him from loving that girl. 17 years later it took Fitz and cadence to find each other and she’s holding a secret that could tear them apart. There’s def some twists in the story but will they get their HEA.
What a amazing read that will take you on a amazing love ride that will have you on the edge of your seat. . This love will take you on a roller coaster ride of love.
Audio review:
Cadence Defined (Cadence Duet Book 2) takes place 17 years later, with a transition from a ya to new adult genre under the romance trope. Told in dual pov with a guaranteed happily ever after.
A nonpareil style of writing which leaves a impact on your heart. A lot of books just skim through the past with second chances, but this one takes you through right from the start of the romance, to the break up, and to the makeup years later. I think it gives a better portrait of the character’s and their thoughts & perspectives.
Character’s are complex, compelling and resilient.
This book flows through smoothly from book one to book two with no bumps in the road & fits in just right.
A second chance sensual romance duet brewed with social justice, a explosive secret, unexpected twists, & jaw dropping bombshells.
Author Dakota Willink writes a note in the beginning of the audiobook. This note was a savvy idea and I loved it.
A beautiful & creatively crafted suspensefiul novel & series.
This novel wraps up this duet perfectly with no unanswered questions.
Lacey Laurel & Zachary Webber’s narration of character’s Fitz Quinn and Cadence Riley portrayed the right amount of angst, chemistry and sentiment. A perfect performance duet.
Looking forward to listening to what’s next from this author. I hope this she writes more books in this genre.
I just finished and have very mixed feelings. I am a sucker for second chances and this one was definitely more than stony and twisted.
While I loved the plot and absolutely adored the narration I wasn’t sure about the blame Fitz had to take. Especially from his father the selfish Senator and then also from the love of his life… Cadence. When you get deeper into the story you will instantly learn that Fitz is kind and selfless person, just being a puppet in a game he couldn’t win.
I get all the feelings and why Cadence did keep her daughter secret and was afraid of but she could have tried harder, well. Both of them could. I believe if you love someone that much you would not only want to sacrifice your love for the other’s sake but you would want to be together. In the end though there was a beautiful HEA they more than deserved. The writing is exceptionally well done and while reading the sizzling scenes you think you can feel it the air getting hotter and steamy.
I loved their kids being thrown into the mix, it spiced the story immensely.
17 years have pasted and lives have changed, will Fitz and Cadence be able to build a new life together?
For you to fully understand these characters you must read Cadence Untouched first!!
I will say that this is one of the best conclusions to a story that I have read in a very long time. Fitz and Cadence were literally made for each other. The author did an amazing job with this story and really had me engaged the whole time and even wanting more. That is not to say that this book was written in such a way that was perfect!!
Fitz and Cadence do have a lot to get through if they really want what they had to grow into a future. This is not without trouble to overcome.
Fitz and Cadence’s story continues in Cadence Defined. I highly recommend you read Cadence Untouched first, so you understand what happened between them and get to know the characters. After 17 years, they are reunited in an expected way, and the past and present come to a head. I loved each of them, and meeting them in their adult life made this such an exciting reunion of two souls, two hearts that were meant to beat as one. This was a wonderful duet, with characters I loved and hated.
Ahh Cadence Defined, I am so glad this book takes place many years from the first book. Now don’t get me wrong I didn’t dislike the first book just some of the parts of it were predictable and too innocent for me.
This book really gives us a look at what both characters have been doing or gone through since they last saw each other. I am so happy Cadence didn’t seem like she did from book one, she was more self-assured and knew who she was in this book. Her relationship with her daughter really made me connect with her. They have that easy back and forth I enjoy reading about.
There were still times I wanted to shake her and be like come on your a bad…s you got this and women up. But I get it she needed time.
Fitz oh, Fitz grew up to be a devilishly handsome fella who has the world at his fingertips but is missing something. I loved how when he sees Cadence again for the first time, for him it was no bullsh… and that he did what he did.
I do think sometimes characters like Fitz always have a father who is just a pompous a…..s and for whatever reasons they can’t ever stand up to them. It makes a lot of sense as the book went on why Fitz’s choices were taken away.
The interaction between all the characters was fun and believable even in the hard situation it was interesting to listen to.
Oh, Zachary Webber’s voice as Fitz yes please allll day long! He really has a talented voice and the way he brings the story to life I just adore. Lacy Laurel I like, I am still getting to know her style but for the most part, I am enjoying and will most definitely listen again.
Audiobook version:
After reading book 1- I was left feeling sad, angry and betrayed on Cadence’s behalf. Going into book 2, i had an open mind and was willing to forgive Fitz. It didn’t take long for him to worm his way back into my good graces. The characters went through an amazing change between book 1 and 2 however with 17 years separating the books, you would expect that. The characters have grown, matured and lived- Defining who they were as adults.
I have a hard time with 2nd chance romances as I always feel a sense of loss when I look at how much time was wasted apart. I was absolutely sucked into this story and lived the ups and downs right along with them. I was very proud of the man Fitz became and feel bad for all the mean thoughts i may have mentally yelled at him after book 1.
The narration was spot on. Lacy and Zachary gave amazing performances and truly brought the characters to life.
This was a fabulous story from start to finish and all the stops in between.
AudiobookObsession
What a wonderful story. In the beginning I went back to look at the prequel to remember who was who. This book is set 17 years later. Life changed for both of these characters dramatically. Could they have a second chance at love? Circumstances dragged them apart all those years ago. The emotions kept building in this story, so many moments that I didn’t see coming…what a ride. I loved it.
I was so upset at the way the author ended Cadence Untouched, however she has redeemed herself with Cadence Undefined.
Seventeen years have passed since Cadence and Fitz have spoken, a chance meeting and they find love is still evident, the attraction still strong. However Cadence has secrets, Fritz’s father is standing in the way. Fitz decides to embrace his own beliefs when Cadence opens his eyes. Powerful love brings them to their HEA.
This story proves that fate has a fickle way of stepping in and righting previous wrongs.
I am reviewing this audible book for @audiobook Obsession, but I also want to mention the narrators Lacy Laurel and Zachary Webber you brought Cadence and Fitz to life and made them special and real.
