One love. One destiny. But it only takes one person to bring the house of cards tumbling down… became the man she always knew he would be, and the heat between them quickly became unbearable. Despite the promise she made to herself, she felt the walls to her heart start to crumble and began to fall all over again.
However, things aren’t the same as they once were. Cadence is the driving force behind a non-profit organization where she handles each case with the determination of a shark. Fitz is known as Washington’s fixer. He is the CEO for a public relations firm—one that represents the politicians who fight against everything Cadence stands for. What do they say about opposites attract?
Finding themselves at a crossroads, Fitz needs to decide if going against his father is worth pursuing a second chance with Cadence. One wrong move and his reputation could be obliterated. For Cadence, she needs to let go of her secrets and forgive Fitz for leaving her alone all those years ago. But more importantly, she needs to decide if sacrificing her values is worth being with the only man she has ever loved.

This is Book 2 in the Cadence Defined series, a novel about a second chance love story which picks up 17 years after the first book ends. Although there is a large time gap between novels, Willink maintains her characters personalities throughout their developing timelines.
I listened to the audio book and both narrators did an awesome job; great chemistry and performance! Having two narrators helped to keep events and conversations separated, as without words to follow it can get mixed up in your mind.
Willink has created a great developing plot, which is easy to follow if you haven’t read/listened to Book 1. Reading Book 1 will give you more insight to the characters past and how they were as young adults.
Be prepared that there are firm political views that arise, which were hard not to skip, but other than that Willink has delivered yet again!
Fitz and Cadence together again, I could not be happier to read part 2 of their story. Dakota Willink has hit this one out of the park. The reuniting of Fitz and Cadence is filled with so much turmoil. This story takes place 17 years after the first part. Cadence’s baby is all grown up and ends up going to prom with Fitz’s son. Fitz is still butting heads with his father and could end this reunion before it really gets going. I loved this duet. Both stories keep you guessing and if all will work out with a happy ending.
Having read the first one I had to continue to see if it still had the touch to keep my attention. Fitz and Cadence seem to be thrown a second chance if they do not waste it. The chemistry still sizzles and they are older. Now it seems there is no denying either regardless what the brain says. They both have positions that were worked for but it would seem they have clashing jobs. What will this bring for them and can they survive it or even try is what we want to know as the pages on this one turn.
This book is a continuation of book 1 where there is a huge time skip where Fitz and Cadence are now adults with their own children. There are more secrets to be revealed so it keeps you on your seat. There is also a huge character development from both Fitz and Cadence which I really enjoyed. You can see them growing from book 1 to book 2. It makes you feel connected to the characters because it feels like they have been with you for so long. I wish there were more moments about them bonding with each other’s children though. This book was a good read!

Cadence Defined by Dakota Willink. Good conclusion to Fitz and Cadence’s journey of love, destiny, and second chances. Nice paced contemporary drama with just enough steam and conflict to keep you interested until the end and routing for the HEA. I would recommend this book duet and author to others. Fitz and Cadence meet again after seventeen years and both fight with an overwhelming attraction for another. It’s unbelievable how well the two of them fit together, how sexual attraction is still sparkling between them. If you believe in second chances in life then you will love this book as I did. Beautiful.

Love was never the problem for Fitz and Cadence and in this the second book in the duet, it still wasn’t the problem. The problem was family for good or for bad it presented hurdles that needed to be overcome. The dynamic between Fitz and Cadence was hot and sizzled off the page. The evil of Fitz’s father was palpable but, as the saying goes, what goes around comes around and for Fitz’s father that was certainly true. This is more than a second chance romance, it opens the reader’s eyes to the problems of immigration and the sleazy underworld of Washington politics. The ending is sweet and creative and the box Cadence put together was a very clever move by the author to bring closure that was otherwise elusive.
I found myself captivated with this storyline. and the characters within the pages are well developed and engaging throughout the pages. Looking forward to reading more.

Fitz and Cadence are at crossroads and it was angsty to see them trying to figure out what to do. Do you put your heart on the line and risk everything you’ve worked for? It’s relatable. Their chemistry is palpable and I am a sucker for second chance romances.
18 years later Fitz & Cadence meet suddenly whilst on a run. Both have successful businesses but have never forgotten the other. However Cadence is reluctant to reignite their relationship for a reason.
There are quite a few obstacles for these two to cross before they can become more. Add in some suspense with someone against them getting together again. However karma does prevail in the end.
Another touching part to this couples story.

This is book 2 of the Duet and I was not not as impressed with this book as the first book. This book revolves heavily around the political arena as Fitz is being groomed to run as senator and his father is already a senator. I did not appreciate that Cadence let her daughter go to her prom with her stepbrother and that she lied about Kallie’s father to her. Luckily it did not end badly.
I would have liked to see Cadence and Fitz grab their second chance with both hands since they never got over each other and had shown some emotional growth and strength through the years, but Fitz is still at his fathers beck and call and being blackmailed by him and Cadence is so scared to reveal secrets that she nearly loses her soulmate for a second time.

This continues the story of Cadence and Fitz years later and is the final book in this duet. Cadence is now doing the job she loves and that is helping people get justice and helping them to go forward in there lives and Cadence has also written children’s books to help keep her non profit going. Fitz wife died in a car accident years ago but he never forgot Cadence who he still loved all through his marriage. When Fitz and Cadence meet again while they are both out running there chemistry and connection between them is just as strong as ever even after so many years have past but will they get a second chance or are there too many secrets. Omg this duet is amazing and a real page turner and so emotional and I couldn’t put it down as I had to know what was going to happen next and it was so addictive. Dakota Willink is becoming one of my favourite authors and I definitely recommend you read this book and duet and you will not be disappointed.
I Voluntarily Reviewed an ARC Copy of this book.
**4.5 Stars**
I was excited to dive into book two of the duet to see where the story of Cadence and Fitz was going to lead after the secrecy around Fitz, and Cadence’s surprise at the end of book one. I was really intrigued to find that book two starts so far in the future as I don’t think I have read a lot of duets where that has happened before and given the way book one ended, I was really surprised to find that was the case… but definitely intrigued. These books were my first introduction to this author and overall I did really enjoy her her writing style and I did really enjoy Fitz and Cadence as characters.
I tend to shy away from politics in general and read as an escape, so I could have done without that aspect of the story, but otherwise I enjoyed the overall story line and was happy to see that Cadence and Fitz were able to overcome time and distance and his father’s manipulations to find their way back to each other and have a HEA. They sure had some great chemistry and I so enjoy a second chance love story.
This story is set 17 years later, and a lot has happened. Cadence did what she was set out to do, set up a non profit organization. One day, out on a run, she accidentally runs into None other than , Fitz. Their chance meeting brought out feelings she kept buried. Cadence wants to avoid him at all costs. She finds out he’s widowed, and has a son. She keeps up her wall, but walls are meant to be broken down. as they get closer emotionally, she knows she has a secret that could destroy any chance of being together again. This story is of rekindling the long lost love they had, overcoming many hurdles to get on with their lives. Oh what an ending to a beautiful love story. keep your tissues handy for the conclusion.
Lacy Laurel and Zachary Webber tells the story with such emotion! They both are master voice performers. You can feel the ,love, angst, anger with each character. Thank you for a great listen! audiobookobessionreviewer
So after feeling like I have seen similar stories before. I realized that each person telling similar stories do have different perspective to tell their version of story. I would say I wasn’t disappointed nor satisfied but in fact I was somewhat ok with Dakota Willink’s version of the story and her characters.
Those are the reasons that I gave both books 4 each.
Cadence had lived her life, raising her daughter alone. She had one true love and never went looking for another. Cadence is now thinking about selling the camp, she met Fitz at. Fitz also has lived without his true love. Forced to marry another, Fitz made the best of it. But a twist of fate has these two face to face again. Will they be forced apart once more? Read this story to find out. I must warn you, the suspense is intense and the emotions had me in tears. If you fell in love with Cadence and Fitz in Cadence Untouched, you must read this one.
Zachary Webber and Lacy Laurel are amazing. I love Mr. Webber as Fitz. Mr Webber is able to bring Fitz to life. Every emotion, every struggle and every intense moment, Mr Webber narrates flawlessly. Lacy Laurel once again, brings Cadence to life as well. I felt as if she were my friend, and I was going through all her struggles with her. This was a gripping tale that Mr
Webber and Ms. Laurel creates a movie in my mind.
This was an okay read. Personally it was a little too political for my liking. I read to get away from all that stuff. I did enjoy the beginning of their story but now as adults I’m not a huge fan. They both clearly never got over each other but never did anything about it. I also didn’t like the fact that Cadence knew her daughter was being taken to prom by her brother but didn’t say anything. That situation in real life could’ve ended badly. The good news is that in the end they finally did get that happy ending.
Pride & Prejudice meets Hopeless in this sweet, it happened one summer romance.
Cadence works her summers at Camp Riley, a camp owned by her parents. The only daughter to two, creative and hard-working people. So, it’s no wonder Cadence has positive and healthy morals. And this is will be Fitz Quin’s downfall. A young man from USC. University of Spoiled Children.
Fitz was forced to spend his summer at Camp Riley for reasons only he and his father know. Cadence’s goals include working hard, preparing for college, and staying away from Fitz. Until that night by the lake. Oooo, that first scene.
“Cadence, can I touch you?” WOWZA. SAVORRRYYYY!!!! The sweetest and sexiest thing I think I have ever read (listened)
..Ah, yeah! You sure can!!! I think this was my favorite scene.
HOT FLASH. Let’s move on, shall we?
Cadence loses the battle with her will to stay away and now we get to see the true Fitz. A man who behind that NO moral code has a conscience that even he didn’t know he possessed. It must be the gorgeous, heart-shaped lip girl that has stolen his heart.
The two still need to keep their romance under wraps, since technically…she is his boss. Together, they spend many late nights by the lake sharing details of their life. Except one. Fitz is here on false pretenses and a bad secret he harbors will only make this girl run. FAST!!!.
Now to these narrators.
Kudos to Lacy Laurel. CLAP. CLAP. Her voice gave Cadence strength and power without taking away her sweet yet firm character, making her loveable and believable.
Zachary Webber. Ahh, what can I say? Let me wipe my mouth first. (Did I just say that out loud?) Zachary’s voice palpably showed the pain that Fitz was harboring in his soul. His flawed and scarred past, yet his desire to change for this woman.
But summer is over, and the secret is now no longer. But are Fitz and Cadence?
Great job, Dakota Willink!!
CADENCE DEFINED takes place 17 years later from the first book- CADENCE UNTOUCHED.
It was such a Rollercoaster ride of TWISTS AND TURNS INTO the UNKNOWN that Have your Jaw Dropping several times!!
This is an EMOTIONALLY BEAUTIFULLY WRITTEN storytelling which my heart was squeezed so Hard!! Plus the chemistry between Cadence & Fritz was still going strong after so many years later! Cadence Defined will have you intrigued from the Very Beginning and devour it in ONE Sitting since there is So much Suspenseful Surprises!!
It was the Perfect ENDING to this Beautiful Duet series!!
I love second chance romances so I was all over this book! I will say you must read book one before reading this book, Cadence Untouched. Although I love second chance romance sometimes I worry when the gap is huge like the one here. 17 years is a long time to be away from someone! However that fear was not needed her. Seventeen years did nothing to stop the chemistry here.
Secrets, twist, tension all things that make a great book, and all things that happen here! Both books in this duet really capture and keep your attention. I love feeling the emotions of the characters and I really got that in these books.
This duet were my first books by Dakota and I can tell you they won’t be my last. I never really know what to expect from a new author when I have never heard of them. That was me with Dakota, never hear of her before these books, and now I’m wondering how that is possible?
