Declan Forrester is arrogant, selfish, and insanely sexy.He was the very first boy I ever loved. Then fame and fortune turned him into a man I no longer recognized. I tried to give him everything he needed, and in return…he broke my heart. Now he’s back, and he wants to make things right. What started as love turned to hate. I told myself I’d never fall for him again, but he’s determined to prove … again, but he’s determined to prove me wrong.
He wants to win me.
He wants to own me.
He wants to defile me.
And if I’m not careful…
I just might let him.

Love the bad boys!!
Second chance romance. Bad boy rocker (whom I wanted to rip his private off). Leading lady who has a backbone, and whom I wanted to give a slow clap to as she put Declan in his place. Angst. This book has all of this and more. This is the second chance story of Tatum and Declan. It is part of a series. I would suggest that you read book 1 as parts of the books are simultaneously happing. Dual point of view. No cliffhanger, but we know that the next member of Civil Corruption is up to bat!
I am loving this series! Tatum and Declan have been friends since they were ten years old. When they were in high school, their friendship turned into more. When his band, Civil Corruption took off, things began to change, and their relationship ended. Ten years later, Declan is back and wants to rekindle things with the woman who he never got over. But hard feelings are not easy to move past.
I loved Declan and Tatum! He was so passionate about what he wanted, and Tatum was what he wanted more than anything. Tatum wanted his band to find all the success they could. She loved him, but had to look out for herself. I loved how they fought each other, both so passionate.
I definitely recommend Defile, but would also recommend that you read Corrupt first (although that follows a different couple)!
Defile is a second chance romance but also a lovers to enemies to lovers story. It is an angsty tale that ripped my heart out before it mended the pieces back together. I am a sucker for rockstar romances and this whoke series just does it for me!
Jessica Prince did an amazing job showing true angst between her characters.
Delcan and Tatum started as best friends then turned lovers. However, one mistake changes all of that and they turn to hate and anger. Will Declan be able to prove he is a “changed” man and get his girl back or is it over for good?
Delcan is the lead singer of Civil Corruption and also writes most of their music and this music happens to relate to many of his feelings about a certain girl.
Tatum has been with the band since the beginning and has also had a great influence of many thing the band does including their music. However, that all changes when Delcan does something unforgivable.
What happens when the guys want Tate to become part of the band again? Will Tate and Declan be able to overcome the past to have a future?
I loved the chemistry between these two and this chemistry was not always the good kind. 😉 The story line was great and even had a few twist that kept you engaged in the story. Can’t wait to read Killan and Gina’s story.
I liked Defile, but had the same problem with it that I did Corrupt, in that the hero is a selfish, arrogant douchebag throughout most of the story. The story itself, though, is great. If you like second chances and/or rockstar love, this series is the one for you. However, don’t be expecting a sweet hero, because the heroes in this series most definitely are not sweet.
3 1/2 stars I am a long time fan of Jessica Prince’s work. But for some reason, this series does not do it for me. I was so irritated when I got to the “now” chapters. After what Declan did, he was mad at Tate because she didn’t give him a chance to fix the situation? Really?? And that song calling her a vindictive B! Uh…hello??? He was clearly the vindictive one! I almost DNF because he was such an immature turd. However, I persevered and it did get better for me. I loved the revenge on Chris and will definitely finish the series.
I enjoyed very much this 5 star story that had me going through so many intense emotions. This is the second book in the Civil Corruption Series.
Declan and Tatum met when they were in grade school, became fast friends then went on to fall in love. They were each other’s first and only love. Declan goes on to became a band member of Civil Corruption. Tatum follows him on in journey but at some point she wants things for herself but Declan can’t accept that. Betrayal will destroy them.
I went through so many intense emotions, my most intense one was I was majorly upset, mad at Declan. I was shocked with eyes wide and a jaw dropping moment. I wanted to throw my kindle at him.
The story fast forwards many years later where they get a second chance at righting the mistakes that were made when they were young. Beautifully written story with a storyline that had me hooked from the very page read to the last one. Although this is the second book in the series, it can safely be read as a standalone.
Story told in a dual POV with an HEA. I recommend this story. All of this author’s other books are all worth the readers precious time and money.
***5 ‘Crimson & Storm’ Stars***
So, I did the whole “I’ll just take a peak” thing this morning and…well…I kinda devoured the book.
Like the entire thing.
Done.
And it’s not a BAD thing per se, but you know…I had that workthing to do, so…
But once I start Defile, putting it down wasn’t an option. From start to finish Declan and Tatum’s story was addicting. I mean if you want the ALL the feels, this book has them all. You’ll sigh and swoon, you’re panties will melt, you’ll want to pull your hair out in frustration, but you won’t be able to stop reading and find out if they can find their HEA in the end.
Hands down, as much as I loved Declan and Tatum, they drove me batshit crazy (which is what I said about Garrett & Gwen in my review for Corrupt ~ I’m pretty sure I’ll say that about the couple in the next book…but for now back to Declan and Tatum). Declan is all kinds of alpha AF male who loves hard and deep, but also has blinders on and doesn’t always see past how he thinks things should be. Tatum is sassy and spunky and has been from a young age. She marches to the beat of her own drum and isn’t afraid to stand up for herself, but when it comes to shaking the boat, one on which she is also riding on, things get a little muddled.
Their second chance journey was a rough and complicated one because of how long they’d been friends and then lovers before everything went to hell in a handbasket. There is a lot of angsty-ness that goes on, but what made it work was that they still loved each other, even when they didn’t want to. But in the end they figured things out and I love where they were at in the end.
I have to give props to the author for how she planned Declan and Tatum’s story out because I think it was done perfectly, well…okay, that’s pretty damn obvious since I devoured it, but there were any number of ways it could have been started and I think the one she choose was the best. It gave a solid foundation for them and why they needed to be together. As for the rest of the CC crew. Ian, I adore, hands down. And I loved catching up with Gwen, Garrett and Liddy. Killian and Mason were definitely fun and interesting and I cannot wait to get my hands on their books!

This is the second book in the Civil Corruption series. This book focuses on Declan and Tatum. The journey of this story starts at age seven and progresses from friends to lovers and back to enemies and lovers. This was a switch from the first book. I liked seeing them as younger children because it gave insight into who they eventually grew up to be. Tatum is strong-willed and fiery. Not one who likes the limelight of fame while Declan loved fame and his music. The life of a rockstar is rarely perfect as it is filled with many temptations such as drugs, alcohol, and women. Declan knew this firsthand and ultimately loses sight to what is important. I was worried if he was going to be redeemable and dig himself out of the hole he dug for himself.
This was not my favorite of this author as I felt it was missing something. It wasn’t until things got chaotic and stuff was leaked at about 75% did the book finally feel like other works that this author is known for. I will say that the glimpse of the third book of this series has me VERY excited. I can tell just in that small glimpse that it is what I am used to from this author. I would still recommend this book or any that this author writes.
I love the guys from Civil Corruption. Jessica Prince has created such a cool world to get lost in for a bit. Childhood friends to lovers and second chances are such a sweet trope to mix. Meeting Tatum Valentine and Declan Forrester as kids and watching their relationship develop into more was charming. But that doesn’t last and fame and fortune can ruin even the strongest relationships. Your heart breaks as you watch them fall apart. But you don’t just get heartbreak, you get fun, sexy times, love and friendship. Throw in some crossover characters and you’ve got a great story to sit back and enjoy. Can’t wait for the next one in line – Consume which is Killian and Gina’s story.
Declan and Tatum have been best friends since they were seven. But then Civil Corruption, Declan’s band, began to take off and Declan started living the rock star life, much to the disappointment of Tatum. She was Declan’s first love and he threw it all away for fame and fortune. Their breakup was a nasty one but Tatum built a new life for herself and moved on.
But then Declan came back.
I was really intrigued as to how this story would play out. There were some instances that I just wanted to reach into the book and throat punch Declan. I felt that Tatum was a strong heroine and knew what she wanted. I felt like the book really got going around 75-80% but I did like seeing the couple as kids to get a feel for who they really were. All in all, Defile was a good book and can be read as a standalone.
