Hazel Ross had no idea what she’d stepped into that night at my 18th birthday party. I’d waited years for the right moment, and there she was, forcing me to show my cards before it was time. Now she wasn’t only a pawn for our enemies, she had a target on her back.I don’t regret it, even though I should. I could never regret making Hazel mine again. She gave me something real to fight for. It was … for.
It was too late for her to back out now. She was one of us again. And she was about to find out what that meant.

This was the book I needed. I had so many questions after reading Defiance Falls (Read that one first!) and this book delivered! It didn’t have as much action as the first book of the series but it answered a lot of questions, gave a lot of back story for the two main characters, gave a lot of insight to the character’s motivation, and set up the storyline for the next book, which I am expecting an explosive final book. The book is set at a great pace that has you hitting the end of the book before you are ready and with the flushing out of the characters you fall in love with them even more. Once again I am on the edge of my seat waiting for the next book to come out. Hurry Ali Dean, I can’t wait!

Book 2 of the defiance falls trilogy gives us a lot of answers to the questions that were left wide open in book 1 ! We are given a dual POV from both Cruz and Hazel that gives a much deeper understanding of their worlds.
Hazel becomes a lot more confident in her choices and reasoning for things and we see her find her strength and Cruz also draws strength from her .
One thing that really frustrates me is that this book feels like it was broke up into a separate book for the sake of breaking it up . It was quite short and really could have been combined with book 1 and made a duet .
Overall this is a good YA story with some action and a little bit of suspense 🙂
On to book three
Hazel and Cruz seem to have gotten themselves in over their heads.. Or have they?
The crew has a plan, timing isn’t on their side right now, they aren’t ready to bring the plan to fruition yet but since Hazel showed up at Cruz’s 18th birthday and forced the timeline of events they will have to move forward ready or not.
The questions are starting to get answered and whoa there are so many players in the game, so much that Hazel had no idea of. It’s amazing the secrets people can keep even when they are so close to you. It’s also amazing how much learning the truth can completely change your life. I love the angst in this book and the suspense. I couldn’t walk away I had to know what happened next.
I love the fact that you get Cruz’s POV during this book. I craved it in book 1 so having it during this book made me so excited.
Defiance Falls Revolution starts where Defiance Falls ends, which was on a whopper of a cliffhanger, and it is a pretty action and drama packed book in my opinion from start to finish. There is basically a rivalry between two sets of people/families and Hazel is put in the middle and her safety is jeopardized repeatedly.
I love Cruz’s protectiveness of Hazel, though at times it is a bit over the top. I love the mystery and suspense aspect of the book and there is a lot of manipulation and plotting that made the book interesting and kept me invested. I really enjoyed Cruz and Hazel together and enjoyed getting more information about their past and more questions answered about what lead to the rivalry going all between all of the characters. I am really enjoying this series and cannot wait to dive in to the final book in the series!
The Donahues and Malones have been rivals for a long time. Now is the time to reveal the secrets to Hazel. She was confused, angry, and felt dejected. Why didnt they trust her? but now she joined them, to help her father reveal the truth.
Hazel found her confidence and gets her revenge in this continuing story of mystery. Secrets are revealed, trusts broken. Now Hazel, her father, Cruz and the guys, are ready to fight the Malones. They have the upper hand for now, but how will the Malone’s retaliate? Whatever comes next, are they ready for a war that they don’t know how it’s going to end ? Ali Dean’s story gets better with each book. I can’t wait to see how this ends!
Sarah Puckett and Gregory Salinas both are phenomenal narrators that captured every emotion, voice of each person in the story and bringing it to life! Their narration flows from one character to another with ease. They both bring the angst, raw emotion and personality to each character. I enjoyed listening to this story.

I listened to the Audible version. I usually start my audiobook reviews by sharing my thoughts on the story itself, but having two really fabulous narrators is probably why I liked the story so much so I’m changing it up this time. Sarah Puckett and Gregory Salinas did an excellent job bringing the characters to life with their performances, and I highly recommend listening to the audio version of Defiance Falls Revolution.
The story was really engaging. A little vigilante-ish, but still good. I appreciated that this book ended in a place that left me wanting more, but not right in the middle of the action (*cough* book one *cough*). I’m anxiously awaiting the audiobook release of Defiance Falls War.

Defiance Falls Revolution
By: Ali Dean
Narrated by: Sarah Puckett, Gregory Salinas
Series: Defiance Falls, Book 2
So glad to have picked up book 2 of this series, as it left me wanting more after the Defiance Falls! I need to know what is going to happen. This book is very enlightening, giving us a lot of back story into the feud between the Donahues and Malones. I don’t think Hazel had any idea what she was getting into when she and Cruz got back together, but this story has a little bit of everything. The weaving of the families is intricate and the story intriguing. Being a huge fan of romantic suspense, I am enjoying Ali Dean’s journey into the mafia, and how she includes not only technology to make things current, but also adds in the devastation of dementia with family members. It gives the story a feeling of relevance and adds depth to the characters. I can’t wait to see how it all plays out.
Sarah Puckett and Gregory Salinas dually narrate this installment of the series. Puckett continues her wonderful portrayal of Hazel. She gives her a maturity in her voice, yet keeps her a little naive, perfect for this role. Salinas is Cruz, and he brings him to life, giving him the young man sound with a wisdom far beyond his years. I enjoyed this team and look forward to the conclusion.

“We were volatile and messy, never straightforward. But we were us.”
This book left me torn in my feelings. As much as I enjoyed reading it, it wasn’t as exciting as the first book.
It happens a lot in here and you’ll get lots of information that will answer all your questions you got in book 1. But it almost felt like too much at once. IMO it would have been a little more thrilling and angsty, if answering some questions would have been postponed to book 3.
Nevertheless, you’ll get a lot of strategizing and plotting revenge in this one, you’ll get a deeper insight into the back story and a lot of action. Unfortunately, the thing that suffers thereof is the relationship between Hazel and Cruz. I wish their development would have taken a little more of the stage. However, we get a lot more of the group and family dynamics and that’s something that makes the book really fun to read.
“Cruz Donovan went as crazy for me as I did for him. There was no other reason an elite athlete’s heart would beat this hard.”
Defiance Falls Revolution is a suspenseful, steamy, quick and entertaining read that will keep you on your feet from the first page to the last.
“My mind was lost in the feel of Hazel’s skin, the way she’d owned me with her body just as I had hers with mine.”
Interesting but must read all books in series
Okay so when I received my ARC for Defiance Falls Revolution I did not realize that this was part of a series and that you definitely need to have read the first book, Defiance Falls, prior to reading this second book of the series. Additionally there is a third book in the series which will also need to be read.
As this was the first book by Ali Dean which I read I was looking forward to reading a story by this author. Well I did find her writing style good and liked her ability to plot a story-line that also included good character development I just could not finish this book because I had not read the first book. So this review is not based on Ali’s writing but really on the main issue of not warning readers that these are not stand-alone books and they must all be read to get the entire story.
I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
First of all, I have to say that I’m so so glad that I was able to read this in a boxed set, because if I had to wait for each book I think I would’ve died! LOL
Ali created such an amazing world! I’ve only read one other book of hers and this one was soooo different. There was so much drama, suspense, & emotions. I loved watching Hazel & Cruz figure out a way to be a part of each others lives.
I don’t want to say too much & accidentally give away spoilers, but I would definitely recommend this box set! You won’t be able to stop reading it!!
Ali Dean has definitely upped the tempo in Defiance Falls Revolution. Hazel and Cruz’s story was already a blast. Now it’s a massive explosion of fun. Well written, with a great plot, and a perfect cast. Also totally fun. Exactly what I look for and easily worth five stars.
Defiance Falls Revolution picks up right where Defiance Falls left off. I didn’t think it was possible to get even more sucked into this story but I was wrong. It wasn’t just the story that I fell more in love with, but with the characters!
Probably the best part of this book was getting Cruz’s point of view, too. The first book was all Hazel, but this one was a duel POV and it added so much to the story and I loved being inside Cruz’s mind.
Some questions are answered, more questions are raised. A revolution was started and no one is ready to give up the battle. I loved the Hazel got some revenge and it was probably one of my favorite scenes! Seriously, those Malone boys DESERVED what they got.
Like book one this book was action packed, suspenseful and a quick read! I can’t wait for the conclusion and to see who comes up on top.
Revolution picks up right where book one left off. So, if you haven’t read book one then you need to read it first. Hazel has been brought into the loop, decisions have been made and moves are ready to be made. What will the fall out be? I love Hazel’s character. She has had so much thrown at her and she has stepped up and taken it in stride. The scene with the bat and balls had me cheering!!!!! That scene was so empowering and bada$$!!! Cruz and his dad will break your heart. I forget that I’m reading about seniors in high school. I can’t wait for the next book.
I’m so hooked on this series! The first book leaves you with this big mystery on what’s going on and with the romance kind of up in the air a little, but this second installment…. BABY it’s so good! I love how it gives you the swoons and then all of a sudden you’re left on your toes wondering what’s gonna happen next! I’m here for this series Ali! You’re such a talented, fantastic author.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
The first book of series had me questioning and this second book of series gave answers. I really enjoyed the backstory and character-building with this series. Definitely needing book 3 soon.

Absolutely great! Loved it!
Defiance Falls Revolution is a good read. It’s book two in the Defiance Falls series. It can not be read as a standalone, you must read Defiance Falls first. It picks up where Defiance Falls left off. Hazel starts to learn the truth and we get some answers in this one. I continued to love Cruz and Hazel in this one. I feel like the story line really unfolded in this one. It’s full of action and we see growth in the characters. This one ends with another cliffhanger and I can’t wait to see what happens next.
Defiance Falls Revolution hit the scales, and I have to say, my favourite of the series.
I loved the dynamic between Cruz and Hazel, and also with the rest of the group. Everything was hyped up and from the ending, you can tell the next book is going to be explosive.
I loved how Hazel defended herself. I loved her sense of fight and I loved her loyalty towards the guys. There is also a scene in the book that will make you say DAMN! at her and see her in a completely different light.
I loved how loyal the group were to each other. I loved how they seemed like family and not just a group of friends, and I loved how they all had each other’s backs. It was awesome!
Cruz and Hazel together were so cute together. I loved how protective they were of each other, and how passionate their relationship was. Full of angst, though, but somehow their relationship between one another just works.
I thoroughly enjoyed the book. It was action-packed, fun and enjoyable. I loved the boys and their loyalty to Hazel, and I loved Hazel and her sense of fight. Defiance Falls Revolution is a high recommendation from me. Fantastic.
This was a perfect follow-up to the first book in this series. We pick right back up with Hazel, Cruz, and her boys as they begin to navigate this new dynamic where Hazel actually knows (or begins to know and understand) what has been going on her entire life. The dynamic of the crew is great. They stand together, and not only is it admirable, but gives such strength to the characters in this story as well. I loved this story, and it kept me wanting more!
4,5* Step by step secrets are being revealed – are they something that Hazel can endure?
I didn’t give this book 5 full stars as I’m waiting for the final part and I’m sure it will be even better. This part was amazing. Full on action, mysteries and secrets started to be revealed and slowly Hazel is put in place where she needs to decide if she can handle what was hidden from her. She doesn’t have a comfort to choose if she is ready for this life after the revelations. She cannot run from what she was sheltered. Is she strong enough to endure the truth? Is she strong enough to endure Cruz and his feelings? I love the side of Cruz that showed his alpha ways and his protectiveness, not only toward Hazel but also his father and his closest friends.
This book was exactly what I was waiting for. The story line progresses and the tensions is being build. Who will outsmart who? There are so many twists and turns and it is action-packed that I read it in one sitting and now I can’t wait for more. Great book and definitely a must read.
