Oh how I LOVED getting the back story on GHOST and finding how it all came to be.
I love the connection between Dane and Keirnan, and they weren’t afraid to explore it either.
I loved the twists and turn the story makes throughout the entire story and how I was sucked into the story from the very beginning.
P.J Fiala Knows how to make you feel like you are a part of the story and she makes you feel all of the emotions that the characters endure.
I am in love with series and can’t wait to see what is in store for us next.
5 stars
I purchased a copy of the steamy novel Defending Keirnan : GHOST Prequel: Dane and Keirnan by PJ Fiala and this review was given freely.
Based on vengeance and on finding love again after the loss of a spouse, this is an intensely suspenseful and action packed story set in Friday Harbor, North Carolina and features newly retired Army Special Ops officer and single father Dane Copeland, his cute five year old daughter Emmy, a mildly steamy love story, the rescue of Beachwood Elementary School teacher Keirnan Vickers and the birth of the family founded Security Agency GHOST.
4 1/2 stars
PJ Fiala is a relatively new to me author, but each book I read of hers makes me more of a fan. Defending Keirnan is a prequel to the Ghost series, and what a beginning. Dane and Keirnan are wonderful characters who had me feeling like I was right along for the ride with them.
Dane gets to know his daughter’s teacher first as a friend then as more than just a friend. But when Keirnan’s life is in danger, he has to use his, special set of skills, to protect her. Will this bring them even closer together, or push them farther part to shield his daughter? I voluntarily read an advance copy without expectations for review.
This is the first book from the author that I read and it was a great story. I look forward to reading more books by this author. I received an ARC of this book by the author and this is my voluntary review.
I’ve read all the books in the G.H.O.S.T series and love them so when Patti Fiala announced that she was writing the prequel I couldn’t wait.
Love it so much. Dane and Kiernan story is perfect. Love everything about it.
Dane is just retired from Special Ops and is a single dad to his beautiful daughter Emmy.
Kiernan is Emmy’s teacher and when they met they both knew that there was a chemistry there.
When someone starts stalking Kiernan and trying to harm her, Dane will do everything to protect her.
This book had everything I love. A single dad, protective Alpha male, a strong heroine, lots of suspense and a good storyline.
Glad to have read how the G.H.O.S.T. Ops started.
My Rating: STARS
Falling for his daughters teacher.
This is the story of Keirnan who always wanted to be a teacher and had gotten her degree. She teaches school and helps at a library. Dane is a single father and had retired from Special Ops to raise his daughter. He meets his daughters teacher Keirnan and is interested in her as he hasn’t had time for dating before. As they get to know each other she disappears. It seems her father has enemies and they are going to use her against him. Can Dane use his special skills and her father to get her back safely? I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
This one was a perfect escape in trying times. The author is able to take the characters and weave a drama filled romance that takes us away and gives works on our emotional state also. Keirnan is so relatable she could of been my daughter whom is also a teacher. Dane is one that grabs your attention and has admirable qualities. As things go along then go south we will be caught up in the pursuit of the story. So with the author weaving her magic in the writing we are given the means to escape and come back when we reach the end of this one which is also only the beginning.
This book was excellent. It had all the drama and suspense a reader could ask for. It was action packed and full of loving characters.
Overall, I enjoyed this book. Dane and Keirnan and Dane complemented each other perfectly. And Emmy was such a sweet kid, it was easy to fall in love with her! There were quite a few twists, I was honestly surprised at the end. I also enjoyed reading a romantic suspense that wasn’t also loaded with personal drama on top of the ongoing outside conflict. Dane and Keirnan were open and honest about their relationship with each other from the beginning. I’ll definitely read more from this author.
I absolutely love it!
The instant chemistry between Dane and Keirnan is the stuff romantic dreams are made of.
Dane is retired military and the single father of an adorable little girl Emmy. He’s still trying to find his way raising his little girl and looking for a new career.
Keirnan is Emmy’s teacher. She’s smart beautiful and definitely makes a great first impression on Dane. You can tell she loves her students and her new project at the library.
This is the perfect story filled with family, mystery, intrigue, steamy scenes, and a beautiful happily ever after.
“I voluntarily received this arc book for an honest review”
You made me stop and think with every word in this story. It was so heartwarming and real. These two people prove to us that if you wait long enough, you will find love. It may be right in front of you or it bumps into you. This series of books has me wanting more and I hope that we get it. Thank you PJ for giving us a another great book. I give it 5 stars. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book as an Advanced Reader’s Copy.
This is my first read by this author and it will not be my last…holy moly was I impressed as I couldn’t stop flipping the pages to see what happen next. I LOVED the characters, Dane and Keirnan were perfect together and I LOVED the little to no drama between them, no OW drama, no secrets or lies coming between them and the flow of their relationship….refreshing refreshing….and I LOVED it.
A great read with steam, suspense, love, betrayals, surprises and twists and turns. Dane was swoon and melt worthy and Keirnan was sweet and loveable. The story flowed beautifully, the characters were great, and the descriptions were spot on. There were a couple of questions left unanswered in my opinion but it didn’t take away from the story or Dane and Keirnan and their HEA.
*I voluntarily read an advanced copy and expressed my honest opinion*
I loved this book! It is a prequel to the GHOST Series! Dane and Keirnan are a great H/h! PJ Fiala is a favorite author of mine and she has written another great book!
Dane and Keirnan’s story is full of suspense, action, mystery, danger, and romance. Dane and Keirnan meet and are instantly attracted to each other. This story has wonderful characters and an intriguing story line. GHOST is born in this story and I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.
Who is Dane Copeland? What does he do for a living? Who is Keirnan Vickers? What does she do for a living? How do the two meet? Who is Auggie? How does he get involved? Holy Smokes does this story bring the suspense! Why is Keirnan kidnapped? Who is behind it? Why? What happens at the fundraiser Lexi and Keirnan have been planning? I was shocked!!! Read and see what happens! I cannot wait to read the next book in this GHOST series. I loved what GHOST stands for!
RECEIVED THIS BOOK AS A GIFT FOR A FAIR/HONEST REVIEW and REVIEWER FOR Bloggin’ With M. Brennan.
What an amazing beginning to the GHOST Series !! We get a look at the beginning of where the original GHOST partners come from. Dane and Keirnan’s relationship started the whole series and the love they have for each other shows through out the series.
When Dane lost his 1st wife he never thought he would ever find love again, for himself and for his daughter Emmy. So when he retired from Special Ops he knew at site of Keirnan at Emmys school he knew this could be something.
So when someone is trying to harm Keirnan, Dana and her dad try and figure out why and who would do this before it is too late. And she is harmed. But when she is taken once Dane knows and feels that wasn’t the end. When Keirnan is running a fundraiser for the library to fix it so she can have her reading program, Read with your Littles, Dane knows he needs additional help since Keirnan will not back down and change the date because it means that much to her. So if it means so much to her it means that much to him.
Can Dane and Auggie keep her safe and have the fundraiser go off without a hitch ?? Will there be love or death ?? And why is the Principal there ??
Sooooo exciting !!
This story is definitely full of suspense and romance. Keirnan is a teacher who has not only started a reading program for children at the library but she’s also doing a fund raiser so that repairs can be made. One day she finds a mysterious man in one of the back rooms at the library and he refuses to tell her his name.
Dane’s daughter is in Keirnan’s class and when he meets Keirnan for the first time, there is a definite spark between them. On their first date, Dane notices a car slow down as it passes Keirnan’s house. Turns out the car has been driving by like that multiple times for the last week. And it keeps turning up. But who is in the car and what do they want?
The suspense and romance continues to build throughout the story. But when Keirnan is kidnapped, things really start to happen as the Dane and Auggie (Keirnan’s Dad) get frustrated by the slow progress of the police. So they call in some reinforcements to help them try to find Keirnan. There are some definite surprises along the way and a happy ending. Plus the formation of GHOST, a secret covert ops group.
Since I’ve read the other books in this series, I was excited to see this new one and knew it would be another great read and “Defending Keirnan” was just what I expected, another great book. An exciting plot that keeps you involved to the very end. It’s an intriguing story line with many twists, surprises and very well written. This story did not disappoint. From the first chapter, I was hooked.
Kieran is a sweet teacher in a military town. Dane is retired Special Ops, widowed with a young child. The two find each other and it’s the sweetest romance you can imagine. Lots of suspense, mystery and sexy scenes too. Not only is there a HEA but you actually like the H and h. I can’t wait to read about Kiernan’s brother next.
I received an ARC on exchange for an honest review.
Dane is retired special ops , he is home and trying to get used to civilian life with his daughter. He meets Ms. Keirnan Vickers, his daughters teacher. Sparks fly between them.
In the midst of Keirnan planning a fundraiser, someone wants revenge for past deeds.
Dane has to rely on his gut instincts and some help from friends to solve this and make sure Keirnan is safe.
Another great book and I highly recommend it to anyone who loves military HEA!!
