A serial killer terrorizes a small California town in this gripping thriller from #1 New York Times bestselling author Tami Hoag.California, 1985—Four children and young teacher Anne Navarre make a gruesome discovery: a partially buried female body, her eyes and mouth glued shut. A serial killer is at large, and the very bonds that hold their idyllic town together are about to be tested to the … about to be tested to the breaking point.
Tasked with finding the killer, FBI investigator Vince Leone employs a new and controversial FBI technique called “profiling,” which plunges him into the lives of the four children—and the young teacher whose need to uncover the truth is as intense as his own.
But as new victims are found and pressure from the media grows, Vince and Anne find themselves circling the same small group of local suspects, unsure if those who suffer most are the victims themselves—or those close to the killer, blissfully unaware that someone very near to them is a murderous psychopath…

Too sad, too many deaths in a small group of friends
Love all of Tami Hoag’s books.
Really hard to get into this book. Not something I would recommend to others.
Typical Tami Hoag, not that that’s a bad thing! Entertaining beach read
Hoag is a consistently good writer but this one seemed to go on too long.
The audio version of this book was great! The narrator kept my interest all the way to the end.
What a great who dunnit this was! I was glued to this book! The characters were good, the settings were good, the keep-me-guessing was good. I don’t have anything bad to say about this.
Pick up the book or audio and get started!
I have read books by this author in the past that I enjoyed but I could not get interested in this book, stopped after about 20% read. Characters were shallow, too many characters in the story line Just in the first few chapters. When the author then introduced more characters I gave up. No depth to this book.
Not bad
I’ve read every book that Sandra Brown has offered and I highly recommend the same to all she is one of the best authors we have
Not my cup of tea. Too violent. Murderer predictable. Read several chapters. Looked ahead. Done.
Always enjoy Tami Hoag books!
Easy read, good story that moved along without getting bogged down
One of the best, fast paced stories of her career.
This is an author that gives complete page-turning entertainment! I dare anyone to just read one.
Tami Hoag is a superb mystery writer whom I’ve enjoyed reading for years.
I really enjoy Tami Hoag. Her books hold my interest to the last page, and this is no different. The characters have very human frailties.
I like Tamy Hoag’s writing. It just flows and the story just pulls you along and is never disappointing.
All of her books are Excellent!
I loved it I am on the second in the series
