But her first order of business is separating the personal from the professional–the … professional–the victim’s wife, her best friend, is one of the FBI’s prime suspects.

I really enjoy books by DiAnn Mills and this is no exception. I love the research that I can see goes into her books. I especially like her joining the FBI with the U.S. Marshall’s service and her explaining about their wonderful jobs! I like the fact that she weaves faith in God into the story as well as having romance without unneeded sex scenes. I will read more of this series as well as her other books. I totally recommend this book and her as an author.
Uncovering secrets is firmly in the wheelhouse of FBI Special Agent, Tori Templeton, but uncovering those secrets when investigating the murder of her best friend’s husband takes a special kind of grit. Business tycoon Nathan Moore’s pacemaker is hacked shortly after one of his oil platforms is bombed. Coincidence, or conspiracy? As far as Tori knows, Nathan was a loving husband, and father to her best friend, Sally, and their boys. Who could have wanted him dead badly enough to kill him?
Cole Jeffers has been a friend of Nathan’s for years, spending almost as much time in their home as Tori did, but almost always at different times. A landscaper by profession, no one knows that he is on leave from the US Marshals Service. When Nathan dies, Cole gets a call from Nathan and Sally’s oldest son, asking him to come. Is Lance right in his belief that his father wasn’t the man they all thought he was?
The longer Tori investigates, the more deceit she finds. When the Marshals reinstate Cole and assign him to help investigate the murder, she’s not sure whether to welcome him to the team, or tell him to take a hike. Can they work together to uncover the murderer before he takes them out, too?
DiAnn Mills writes some of the most gripping romantic suspense in the Christian realm. Deep Extraction is no exception. I had no idea who the mastermind was until the reveal at the end – or I should say, until he was fully introduced at the end. There were hints throughout, but the final reveal brought him/her into the open.
I can definitely recommend Deep Extraction, and really, anything Mills writes. I haven’t read a bad one yet.
Oh.My.Goodness. I love the writing of DiAnn Mills! She weaves suspense with so many twists and turns that you are kept intrigued until the end. She also includes a lot of interesting background information that really adds to the story; but not so much info that it overwhelms you. Loved this book!
Great book
Diann Mills keeps you guessing as the FBI Task Force works through the clues of the murder of oil and gas magnate Nathan Moore. Special Agent Tori Templeton investigates the murder along with Task Force members reinstated Deputy US Marshall, Cole Jeffers and her partner Max, who is dealing with stage 3 cancer. Tori’s friendship with both the deceased and his wife from their old college days and Cole’s friendship with them through business does create tension between all involved. There are enough twists and turns in the story to make you feel like a whirling dervish. You will enjoy many surprises and second guessing from all of the secrets that enter the story slowly. Nice mystery and slow developing love story.
This was a thrilling book that kept me on my toes with all the unexpected twists.
FBI Special Agent Tori Templeton and her partner, Max, were called in to investigate the death of Nathan Moore, owner of Moore Oil & Gas. Tori was a friend to Nathan and his wife, Sally, making it sometimes hard to stay in investigative mode. Especially when she wanted to help Sally through the loss of her husband. US Marshal Cole Jeffers was also working the case and was a friend of Nathan’s. As the investigation proceeds, they learn that Nathan wasn’t the person they thought he was. And that he had been murdered when someone tampered with his pacemaker.
I enjoyed this suspenseful story. With so much going on and the twists in the plot, it could have been hard to follow. But the way DiAnn Mills wrote it, I didn’t have any problem keeping up. I just wanted to keep flipping the pages to find out what was going to happen next. Because the more these investigators dug, the more secrets they found.
Cole and Tori are incredible characters. Both are very strong, intelligent people who are great investigators. Their light romance nicely softens the drama. Especially, with the mystery of who is behind the bombing of the oil rig, Nathan’s murder and threats to his family.
I really liked not knowing who the murderer was until the end, and was surprised to find out who it was.
I received a copy of Deep Extraction through NetGalley but I am reviewing it on my own as I do with everything I read.
