I just love a Scarlett Cole romantic suspense. Her writing always draws me in and the twist and turns keep me eager to get to the end and see how it all ends. This is the third book in the Love Over Duty series and one of my favorites yet.
Cabe and Amy have intense chemistry from the start and denying that for the sake of the job had so much tension built up that I was on edge waiting for them to give in.
I really loved this book and highly recommend this series and any other book by Scarlett Cole. Even though I’m not a huge fan of third person books, the writing is so well-done and the stories so unique and intense that I get lost in the book fast.

This is definitely the best book in the series so far. The third story mixes all the action of the first two books with the emotional depth and relationship magic I’ve loved in all my favourite Scarlett Cole books. It’s a powerful combination and I couldn’t put this book down.
Cabe is a brilliant main character. He’s a bit quieter and possibly a bit more abrasive than Six and Mac but there are many layers to the complicated man. I think his grief is handled well and I love the respect he has for Amy as a professional and a partner. FBI agent Amy is the first woman in this series whose skill set allows her to keep up with the former SEALs. She is smart and fierce, and I enjoyed the complexity of the decisions she has to make while undercover.
The relationship between Cabe and Amy is electric but also frustratingly slow at times. Cabe’s grief and their current undercover work makes personal moments difficult. In some ways, I think the constraints on the relationship make it more exciting and the trust that builds between Cabe and Amy as they work together is wonderfully intimate. These two work together on so many levels and I loved the chemistry between them.
Much of this story focuses on the casino where Amy and Cabe go undercover and I really enjoyed the change of setting and the new focus on money laundering, gangsters, and human trafficking. The plot is complicated and carefully constructed. This is an exciting, suspenseful read and I really loved it.

M/F Mystery Romance
Cabe is a military man through and through. Just because he is now in a more private sector doesn’t mean he can turn it off. Cabe’s brothers have seen him through his worst times. When an unexpected loss occurs in his life, Cabe goes through the motions but doesn’t really live.
Amy is starting over in a new town. After having to leave her previous position due to circumstances out of her control, she wants to prove herself and knows that there are missing women whom she can help. Working in the FBI is a dream job for her. She has her own trauma in her past that helped her decide that the FBI was her goal.
When Amy and Cabe are thrown together on an op, it will take their smarts and attraction to new heights. Can Cabe put aside his past and really let Amy in and can Amy trust in a relationship?
The mystery aspect was okay. I thought that it could have been played out a little more. I think, for me, the resolution was too quick and tidy on both the mystery end and the relationship end. There was not a ton of heat, for me, between the characters – it was forced chemistry. This story had the potential to be super intriguing, but for me, it fell a little short.

I’m a big fan of a couple of Scarlett Cole’s other series, so when presented with the opportunity to read one from the Love Over Duty series I jumped at the chance. It’s very well written and is a fierce romance between two well developed characters, who I loved! I would say that though I’ve read this as a standalone, it wasn’t easy to follow the first few chapters as they reference previous books a lot.
Cabe Moss works for a security company that has been called in to work a joint case with the FBI at a casino outside Vegas. Amy Murray is the FBI agent who has been assigned the case, she’s relatively new to the area, as she’s just transferred from out East because of a sexual harassment issue. Now, she’s determined to prove herself with her first case. The attraction between Cabe and Amy is immediate – it actually begins the night before they’re professionally introduced to one another. Things are heated between them, but Amy isn’t willing to chance risking her reputation at her new office to pursue things. On the flip side, Cabe is battling demons from his past and isn’t in an emotional position to start things with Amy.
This is just an all-around fast-paced book, Amy jumps right in to working undercover at the casino to try to catch not only a money launderer but also help with a few missing persons cases. Cabe struggles to keep things professional, especially when it comes to allowing Amy’s handsy new boss to be within a close proximity to her. I enjoyed that the two don’t immediately jump into bed together – we get a lot of buildup and it keeps the book moving right along. I also enjoyed the glimpses of the other men on the security team that we get, their personalities shine through and I look forward to reading more from this series.

This is the third book in the series, and I highly recommend that you read them in order – we are following the lives of a group of friends and each book builds on the previous one with regards to underlying plots, and each romance continues in the next book. And I have to say, if you have not read any of them yet, then you are in for a real treat!
Scarlett Cole has a real talent for setting up a tense situation! I had to stop a few times and catch my breath, remind myself that it would all work out in the end, and read on. There are also a lot of twists and turns, and events which build on the previous books – luckily there are plenty of reminders and links which help the reader to keep up. I love the fast pace, the roles which the men take, and the teamwork which stretches across the different purposes of the mission.
Thanks to Six and Mac having been down the route already, they are wonderfully supportive and teasing of Cabe as he realises how important Amy really is to him. They are both damaged by their pasts, but recognise the importance of the future for them as a couple. In such an intense case, their moments of privacy are insufficient, but essential. There is some lovely humour too, which defuses the seriousness of their work roles – cake tasting and the other wedding preparation tasks that the alpha men take on for Six and Lou. Great fun!
This really is an excellent read, and I can’t wait for another!

This is the third book in the author’s Love Over Duty Series and is an adventurous and suspenseful romance.
In Deep Cover, Eagle Securities—a special ops firm formed by Cabe, Mac, and Six (who are former Navy SEALS,) are investigating a Russian crime syndicate who have been a threat in the past. Eagle’s teams in conjunction with the CIA, FBI, and local law enforcement are working to take him and his associates down.
After losing his fiancé Jess, in the line of duty, Cabe had thrown himself into his work. He begins wrestling with his past while making plans to move forward when FBI Agent, Amy Murray stirs something inside him that had been dormant since he lost Jess.
Amy’s recent transfer to San Diego from Atlanta offers her the chance to move forward with her life and career after being the center of a workplace incident that haunts her and causing her to feel cautious about her interest in Cabe. Their new assignment feels personal, due to her childhood tragedy.
As the investigation gets deeper, so did my interest in this story. They plunge into their work in hopes of bringing justice and the chance of a life together. Faced with professional obstacles, and each trying to adjust to life after loss, Cabe and Amy make the journey toward a life together.
This was an interesting read due to many situational explanations of content. The author researched tons of supporting information and seems to be quite knowledgeable, which shows in her writing.
I confess, these parts were my favorite within the story. The romance is tender and seems to fit with the story, even if I occasionally felt the story needed more detail in spots. Due to providing so much detail in parts, it felt like the connectivity seemed to fall short making it difficult to invest in the characters, Cabe and Amy as much as I’d hoped I would. I don’t know if they need a bit more fleshing out and more personable presence or if maybe I’m missing something. One example is the heroine is built up at first as a strong and capable agent yet I felt it was disproved in the end by showing little expression of her talents and further offering the prevalently professional actions to her male counterparts in physical situations. However, this is a credit to the supporting characters. I did find them relatable and I rather enjoyed for them.
Perhaps the biggest issues I had come simply from the fact this is my first book by this author and yet the third in the series. Maybe if I’d read the whole series, much of this would be resolved. As such I really suggest reading the books in order.
The most difficult part of reading this book was the continual change of point of view of characters without identifying the change. I often needed to reread a page two or three times to sort out who was speaking or what scene the story had moved to.
All this said, the book is definitely worth a read. The plot is intriguing, involved, the characters are fairly relatable and kept me interested. I would definitely read another book by this author.
It’s no secret that I have been a fan of Scarlett Cole’s for a while now but seriously when she writes stories like this one how can I not be!
From the very first page I was pulled into the world of Cabe and Amy and quite honestly I didn’t want to leave. If you have read the first two books in the series (and I really hope you have because they were AMAZING READS) you know that Cabe lost his fiance when she was killed in action during her last deployment, this is something Cabe never thought he’d get over and I don’t think it is something you ever really get over but it is something that you can move on from and Amy is the person that has Cabe seeing that as a possibility.
There is a lot of romance and tenderness in this story and I for one am very glad for that because we had a couple of delicate situations that needed to be handled correctly or Cabe and Amy may never have gotten their HEA. Cabe struggled with feelings he didn’t think he should be feeling, especially since he met Amy in a bar on the birthday of his late fiance’s…let just say that first meeting didn’t end so well and leave it at that. But Cabe isn’t the only one struggling with their feelings, Amy is completely drawn to Cabe but since she transferred to a different FBI headquarters because of sexual harassment she suffered through at her last office she felt that them working together and having a relationship of any type would make it look like she lied about the harassment. Crazy I know but sadly true.
We are also dealing with the men that are kidnapping women and believed to be selling them into a sex trafficking ring, money laundering, and all other kinds of bad crap. So Eagle Securities is joining forces with the FBI and CIA in order to crack this case which means Amy and Cabe will be working together and getting closer whether they think its a good idea or not.
This is most likely the last book in the series since all three owners of Eagle Securities have gotten their HEAs but I really hope it isn’t, there are a couple of secondary characters that will hopefully find a love of their own and keep this series going because I for one really love it. I would recommend this book, heck the entire series, to anyone that enjoys a good romantic suspense with a great love story. This book is low on angst and high on heat. Happy Reading!!!
**I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Readers Copy of this book**
This is Amy and Cabe’s story, after reading the second book, Final Siege which happened to be my first read in the series, I fell in love with these friends and brothers in arms. This story took me several weeks to finish. I believe it was because there was just so much going on. We start out with Cabe nursing a round of drinks with Six and Mac on the anniversary of the death of his fiancee when he meets Amy. Nothing happens that night, he feels guilty and ends up leaving. The next day it just so happens that the case they have been asked to work on involves helping out the FBI and in walks Amy. Lol…I felt the romance between these two was stilted. Some of the other things happening in this story just took me to long to connect any sort of romance between these two.
We have Cabe’s guilty feelings about moving on because of his fiancee’s death, Amy had recently located to another city because of a past sex harassment case, the undercover sting operation, the missing girls, it was just a lot. Of course, we know the chemistry between the two was palatable and they did have some very hot sex scenes, however, I just felt that Amy was not sure where she wanted the relationship to go because of the past. It is very well written and I will continue to read any more stories in this series. I still have to go back and read about Sixten and Louise’s story Under Fire, that one sounds even better than Final Siege! In the end, it all worked out, but I have to admit that this story did not grab me as fast as Mac and Delaney’s story did. 3.5 stars.
Love the Seals and broke my dry spell with this one. Amy takes you in with the guys looking for some missing girls. Also that Cabe for shame he gets your head shaking but your heart does give him a break. You kinda know what is going to happen at first that Amy will place herself that also gets you to slowly rev up the engines. At the same time the answers come to light on what is what you get some heat that builds. The suspense itself keeps the pages turning with you having to have the answers. Curiosity keeps you also going with this one seeing where the two go along with the answers. By the time this wraps up you will be finished melted to the bone.

Deep Cover by Scarlett Cole is a slow, sweet burn of a book. It is an engaging story told in dual POV.
Cabe Moss, former SEAL is on a mission to bring down a Russian syndicate.
Amy Murray, FBI, goes undercover as a casino dealer to expose a human trafficking ring.
The sparks fly when they meet in a bar. But, Amy is somewhat slighted after Cabe takes off without notice.
The next day, they realize they are both part of a joint task force and must work together.
Will they risk everything they are working towards to be together?
Cabe was a phenomenal character. He felt real. His kindness, loyalty, sexuality and take-charge attitude just did it for me. One of the sexiest alpha males written.
Amy is strong and independent. She simply wants to prove herself and she does that without a doubt. She has a brilliant mind for counting cards and for remembering things.
I loved getting an inside look into the casino world and how it works. It was very interesting for me.
This is the third book in a series and although it can be read as a standalone, I believe reading them in order is the way to go. The relationships and the story itself seems like it evolves through all three books.
This was an overall good read with an intriguing story line. Recommended to those who like their men HOT and the slow burn of a passionate relationship unfolding.
I really enjoyed the latest (and can you believe last) installment of the Love Over Duty series!!! This is the story of Amy and Cabe. Cabe is an ex Navy SEAL working with his best friends to get their security company off the ground. Cabe is still mourning the loss of his fiancée Jess. She was his everything and he feels lost without her. Amy is an agent who asks Eagle Security to help her with a case. Cabe is the one who is tasked in helping her. They both stir up feelings that they aren’t used to and have a hard time dealing with it. Cabe doesn’t know how to deal with the feelings that Amy makes him feel…something that he hasn’t felt since before Jess. Amy isn’t use to dealing with a man like Cabe….a man who she can’t seem to get out of her head. They were perfect for each other. I enjoyed their story a lot. I was hooked from beginning to end and hated to see their story end. Of course there is suspense, love, action, hot steamy moments throughout. I highly recommend this story to everyone….its a well written story that I really enjoyed. Another fantastic story….well done!!!!
I loved this book and thought it was a great ending to this trilogy. This book is finally Cabe’s turn to find love. Cabe really has a lot to get over in this book to let his heart go to another person. I did like that the author didn’t shy away with how much Cabe still loves Jess and at the same time letting him move on from that loss. Amy is a spitfire and a great match for Cabe. We finally have a conclusion to the big case they have been working on for 3 books. The only thing I realized is how much I miss Six and Lou story as I didn’t read the first book and really want to go back. I am so curious how Six and Lou got together as they polar opposites.
*I received a free copy of this book via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review.*
An enjoyable and entertaining storyline with sweet and sexy romance and a multi-agency investigation into human trafficking and money laundering with the Russian mob involved, whom the guys from Eagle run into in a previously in the series.
Cabe Moss is a hero easy to like. He is a strong, capable, considerate, and kind man. He knows what he wants, he has a surprising romantic streak, tenderness, and vulnerability that melts the hearts of the readers. His sorrow over losing his fiancee is touching, how he respects and cherishes Jess’ memory is beautifully done.
I love the connection Cabe, Six, and Mac has. The way they know each other and get each other, and understand each other, the banter, the teasing, the confrontations, calling each other out when needed, it is one my favorite things in the series.
FBI Agent Amy Murray is an independent, tough, and capable woman who can hold her own and kick some arse when needed. She is a true professional, at least in the beginning, until the emotions between her and Cabe takes over the rational thinking.
With the strong secondary characters, likable hero and heroine, and a good storyline, I was ready to love the heck out of this story. But it turned out it was more of a liked it a lot, read it through even though struggled in the half point, and ended up finding it entertaining. I’m not sure if the eARC was edited more before the final print, but there were several mistakes in it that broke the flow for me. The point of view and the timeline was jumpy, not formatted to be reader-friendly, but all these issues could have been corrected to the final copy, so not affecting my score of the title.
In my opinion, Amy lost a lot of her edge as an agent when she started her relationship with Cabe, there were a couple of times I had to remind myself that she was not civilian helping out with the investigation. Cabe didn’t trust her abilities keep herself safe, maybe not because of her actions, but because of what happened to Jess in the past. Yet there was something off balance in the tale right after they got together.
Amy and Cabe, after submerging into the lust, were sizzling hot, and the explicit love scenes were plentiful. I really loved the mature and constructive way they dealt with the issues between them. I loved that there was no drama just for the sake of drama, yet there were feels, deep emotions that were palpable, and conversations that were difficult.
I’m glad I didn’t give up on Deep Cover at the halfway point because the action and tension of the suspense pick up, and the thrill of the chase is riveting towards the end, so much so that I didn’t want it to end quite so suddenly.
A luscious and delicate love story in a middle of an intense and dangerous investigation lead by a cast of charming characters enthralled and entertained my mind and I’m looking forward to the next installment of the series.

Deep Cover by Scarlett Cole is the third book in the Love Over Duty series. Being my first in the series, I did not feel I was missing any pertinent information. When relevant plot points from the other books are mentioned, they are summarized, giving first-timers the information they need.
The Lucky Seven Casino is the epicenter of a rash of felonies including suspected kidnapping, possible human trafficking, and money laundering by Russian mob boss Sokolov. Executed by law enforcement, the investigation into these crimes includes the FBI and Eagle Securities. Amy works for the FBI. Cabe is an ex-Navy SEAL with Eagle Securities. Both are working on different angles of the criminal case and a dedication to doing the right thing, for all of the parties involved, was a priority. The team worked intelligently and well together, and it was clear they were all becoming great friends. I remained invested in the characters during the attempt to end these atrocities.
Solving these crimes is personal. A past crime involving Amy’s mother supports her drive to stop the female disappearance at the Lucky Seven. Cabe and his team have a similar investment. Sokolov’s crime syndicate has directly threatened the lives of family members of the Eagle Security team. They possess equal justification to make sure the casino becomes crime free. Bringing the villains down became as essential to me as it was to them.
Amy’s father is a professional poker player, and her uncle runs a casino. Due to her resources, she has the skills to go undercover at the Lucky Seven to investigate the missing women. As Amy goes undercover as a card dealer, the stress builds. The owner of the casino, Faulkner, has charm but at the same time, he crosses a line that justifies caution and suspicion. In contrast, Amy’s direct supervisor Ortega is respectable with Amy and the rest of the staff. Who is helping Sokolov launder money if anyone? Who is responsible for the missing women, the indecent boss or the moral one? These questions fuel the anxiety. Cabe and Eagle Securities focus their attention on the money laundering. Cabe attempts to befriend Sokolov while covertly searching for the money switches. Cabe and the team do their job well. Cabe’s instincts and reactions are appropriate to what I believe an ex-NAVY Seal would be. He is protective and keeps his team, which now includes Amy, safe.
I enjoyed Cabe but, his contribution is primarily guarding Amy’s back. I would have liked to see Cabe play a more prominent role in the end battle, rather than just being Amy’s knight in shining armor. Along the same lines, I felt an agent with Amy’s qualifications could have needed less saving. I also sense Amy being more assertive in the face of danger would have made her more interesting. A dynamic involving a couple fighting together is a delicate balance. I still found their decisions sound and them both to be capable in their jobs.
When reading romance novels, I am most committed when the plot surrounding the couple can stand on its own. I find that Deep Cover by Scarlett Cole was one of these novels. Having said that, the romance in Deep Cover was also quite captivating. The characters, for justifiable reasons, decided not to pursue their attraction to each other. In high-pressure situations, that only lasts so long. When they give in to the chemistry between them, it is explosive. Well done there. This relationship develops while they are getting to know each other without bringing sex into the equation. I welcome this method as it is more believable. I would recommend giving Deep Cover by Scarlett Cole a chance. The story will not disappoint.
When Amy is teamed up with Cabe to bust a money laundering business as well as find evidence of missing women, they both know they have to keep things professional between them. Amy’s past has a case of sexual harassment that colored her reputation and to get involved with a superior coworker would give credence to the gossip’s claims. Cabe’s fiancée, Jess, died two years ago and he’s still struggling to move on and not succeeding very well. However, he is attracted to Amy like no other woman since her and he wants to take a chance. Unfortunately, she works a job that is open to danger, just as Jess did, and he’s not sure he could survive losing another woman again.
This was a relatively slow paced book that set up the background and the current situation regarding the bad guys. The setting is primarily in a casino with lots of info on betting, counting cards, and other miscellaneous gambling tidbits. While I liked the hero and heroine well enough, I never really felt a full on chemistry explosion between these two. Part of the reason was due to Cabe’s struggle to move on from the loss of Jess. Even when he didn’t feel the guilt of being with Amy, he was checking to see if he felt it. There was just a lot of remembering his fiancée that took away from the buildup between Amy and Cabe. I’m not a fan of this trope at all so it colored my opinion of the story.
The plot and the storyline was excellent with lots of villains and danger at every turn. I was anxious for Amy each time she stepped out to investigate or someone from the casino approached her. I approved of Cabe’s instinct to protect her at all cost even if they lost their target. The ending was satisfying as their case comes to a conclusion and there was a nice little epilogue that gave us a look into their future a few months/weeks later.
Overall, if you don’t mind the deceased spouse/lover trope, then you will definitely enjoy this one.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book provided by NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Oh my lord I’ve been waiting for Cabe’s story since I first started this series and I was not disappointed! He’s struggling so much with the loss of his fiancé, so much heartbreak, it was so great to see him start to move on, despite how difficult it was for him. I love reading books with strong female characters and this was that and so much more!
Scarlett Cole is an instant one click author for me, and I’m already itching to do a reread of all 3 books in this series.
*I received this book via Netgalley for free for my honest opinion*
I absolutely could not put this book down! This was such a suspenseful enticing read.
FBI agent Amy and ex-SEAL Cabe ended up put together on a undercover case after a spark ignited in a bar. After they realized that they would be working together, they decided to try to ignore the spark they felt between them. Of course, that proves to be quite difficult. It created some lovely sexual tension.
The book was fast paced, suspenseful, full of angst, and had plenty of sexy scenes to go around. The writing was fluid and the dialogue was quippy and realistic. There were plenty of banter between Cabe and Amy that I loved. The chemistry the author created was quite wonderful. It made me want a Cabe in my life.
*There were some grammar errors but I assume it was because this was an ARC copy*
4 Finding Love Even While In Danger Stars!!!
I’ve been waiting to see what made Cabe who is and oh my goodness finding out about Jess his fiancé and how she died brought tears to my eyes. But leave it to Amy to show him that there can be life and love after a loss like that!
This story was everything I wanted it to be. There’s a chemistry between these two that they just can’t ignore no matter how hard they try. They’re on a mission and cannot be distracted. I fell in love with these two both individually and as a couple. Their story is perfectly paced and wraps up this amazing series perfectly.
There’s action, suspense, heat and heart all in one book. Proving yet again that Ms. Cole can write the perfect story!!!
DEEP COVER by Scarlett Cole is book Three in the Love Over Duty series. This is the story of Cabe Moss and Amy Murray. I have read the previous book, and Cabe was in that one, but feel you can make this a standalone book if you wish to do so.
Cabe and his buddies have a Eagle Securities company that sometimes works with the Government. This assignment isn’t much different except Amy and FBI agent will be working undercover. Cabe is still dealing with the lost of his fiancée who died. But feelings start up between Cabe and Amy while working on their assignment.
This story had a lot of excitement which made it a page turner but also had emotions of loss from Cabe and the growth of a new love. I really enjoyed reading their story!
FBI agent Amy was a great character who grew up with a father who was a pit boss in Vegas and knew the industry well. Cabe was another great character and an ex navy seal who worked for a private security group and had a past of losing a fiancé to an IED. The two have to work together on a joint task force where Amy went undercover as a card dealer. Lots of action and suspense with great chemistry and some steam. This was a great read. I am voluntarily reviewing an arc I received from Netgallery.
Once again I have started a series at the end instead of the beginning. Fortunately it didn’t matter at all.
Cade’s fiancé died in an IED blast while patrolling. In this book we see his reactions during her birthday and on the anniversary of her death. The first frustrated me but I got it, the second brought me to tears. Ex-SEALs he and his two best friends have started a security company and are contracted on this case with the CIA because of the international implications.
Amy is an FBI agent who has recently transferred to San Diego, after having gone through the hell of sexual harassment and the aftermath of her accusation. She specializes in searches for missing women, for a very personal reason.
After an initial interaction that didn’t end well, they certainly didn’t expect run into each other again. Two separate cases with a common denominator. A casino, a venue that Amy is uniquely qualified to go in undercover. She will be looking for leads on the missing women with Cade as one of her backup as he looks for the money trail.
Fast paced and suspenseful as the pieces come start coming together. Plenty of heat between Cade and Amy as they try to remain professional without moving on their attraction. Once they give in it’s explosive and just adds to the drama.
I now have to go back and read the other two books in this series. I really liked Mac and Six and their women. I need to read their stories.
Deep Cover is the third book in Love Over Duty series by Scarlett Cole. I didn’t read first two books but the blurb of Deep Cover sounded very promising, so I decided to give it a chance. I liked this book and didn’t feel lost or confused for not reading other two books in the series. Deep Cover is an entertaining, action-packed romantic suspense story with likable characters, interesting plot and very compelling love story. I don’t always enjoy romantic suspense but I thoroughly enjoyed Deep Cover.
Yet again, I am sad to see the conclusion of a much loved series from one of my favorite authors. However, I look forward to seeing what else she comes up with.
Cabe and Amy’s chemistry sizzled throughout the entire story, despite their best efforts at fighting their attraction to each other. But I think what got me the most while reading this story, was Cabe’s insecurity, not sure if that’s the correct word, let’s go with fear, of falling for someone and having something happen to them.
The tragic circumstances behind the loss of his beloved fiancée were horrible, and I believe he was justified in the way he felt. And despite his fears, he fell hard for Amy. And I loved how protective of her he was.
And let’s not forget Amy. She’s strong, independent and completely capable of taking care of herself, however she’s putty in Cabe’s arms. And even though she thinks she doesn’t need to depend on anyone else, she’s wrong. Cabe is a perfect fit for her in every way that matters.
This book was everything I could wish for in a Romantic Suspense story. A definite must read.
