Sexy and full of action! Between the expertly crafted suspense plot and the pulse-pounding romance, you won’t put this thrill ride of a book down until you turn the very last page.
At the beginning of the story I loved Amy’s world of cards, poker, card counting, etc. It is just fascinating to me. I did not love Cabe’s whole vibe. Yes, he lost his fiancé but two years of visiting her grave and keeping her so close that no one else has a chance of getting in was too much. I wanted to shake him and say “snap out of it, get on with your life”. Fortunately, he does. The mission of catching the money launderers and sex slave traders was non-stop action. The second half of the book flies by and all of a sudden you are done. Cabe does realize he has to let go and learn to love again and his and Amy’s story is very sweet and by the end of the book I loved them both. This is a standalone story but to enjoy the full experience of the Eagle Security guys I think you need to read the first two books.
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher through NetGalley.
Deep Cover by Scarlett Cole
Love Over Duty #3
Have you ever wanted to BE the female lead in the book you are reading? I kind of wanted to step into Amy Murray’s shoes…well…perhaps not entirely but what a strong, competent, intelligent woman she was! She is definitely someone to emulate! And Cabe Moss? Well, he is a hunk and a half ex-SEAL who may appear cold but is definitely NOT! The two are drawn to each other from the meet-cute but for one reason and another (have to read the book…not telling you why) the two do not get together then and with a case to work together have to wait even longer than they might have wanted to before figuring out how to be together without jeopardizing their mission.
I really enjoyed hearing about Amy’s father and uncle and how they pulled together to assist her and Cabe be the best possible undercover agents – under the circumstances. The insight into poker an gambling and how it might be used to make women disappear was fascinating, real and more than a bit unsettling.
This was an action-packed romantic suspense with people I admired and could relate to and that I hoped would eventually end up together. I am not sure if there will be more in this series but with three teams of Eagle Security operatives it is entirely possible this won’t be the last book in the series though the founders of the company have met their mates.
Thank you to NetGalley, St. Martin’s Press and Barclay Publicity for the ARC – This is my honest review.

“It was wrong to think about her in any other way than as his colleague, but somehow that message had yet to reach his dick.”
Being a sucker for broken bad boys I’ve been waiting for Cabe’s story. I met him while reading Final Siege as a standalone which gave me just enough info about him to intrigue me. His past is clouding his future, but he doesn’t let that stand in the way of doing his job. The loss of his fiancée has left scars deeper than the physical ones and he’s not looking to go down that road again. But he can’t deny that his body and his brain are drawn to FBI Agent Amy Murray. His best friend, “Six had always laughed at the way Cabe had found women’s IQs way more interesting than their bra sizes.” Amy had both brains and beauty, and she was off-limits, at least while they were working undercover on a case. But his dick still hadn’t gotten the message…
I really enjoyed the witty banter between Cabe and his partners who work with him in the security firm they started after leaving the military. They have been friends since they were kids and their families are all close to each other. Add that to the fact that they served together as SEALs, their bond is strong. That connection that they share makes them a force to be reckoned with when they are on a case, as they are able to communicate without words. So what are the chances he’ll be able to keep his attraction to Amy a secret?
I can’t resist a good crime story so Deep Cover was a real treat for me. I totally got into the details and my heart was racing as the characters were thrown into danger. The combination of sexual tension and suspense was an explosive cocktail that I was totally on board for. And the undercover persona that Cabe & Amy had to adopt during their investigation was very exciting. The author did an excellent job of drawing me into their cover, and I just soaked up the lessons they learned to play their parts. I felt like I was right there, mentally wearing all black and listening as they shared intel, ready to run to the rescue if they were detected. Yeah, I’m badass in my imagination. What a ride, I didn’t want it to end. Now that it has, I’m ready for whatever adventure the author takes me on next. The line forms here…
Cabe Moss is an ex – Navy SEAL that never lets his past interfere with work but when he’s pushed to team up FBI agent Amy Murray he wants to do more than complete their mission together. Born ready for this assignment, Amy finds working with the frustratingly professional Cabe to be the biggest challenge of all.
Thrilling and fast paced, the third book in the Love Over Duty series keeps readers glued to the pages with lots of suspense and romance. Cabe and his team are ready to bring down their enemies any way possible even if that means working with a whole host of alphabet agencies in order to get the bad guys and this mission has Cabe and Amy both working to overcome their emotional issues while doing so. In regards to the mission, anticipation builds as their undercover personas get closer to the endgame and a few twists and turns adds adrenaline pumping action to the mix, especially as the good guys have multiple objectives.
Cabe and Amy are strong, compelling characters that easily draw readers in and hold their attention while the sizzling chemistry heats up the pages and burns hot enough that this couple can’t fight their attraction no matter the professional and emotional obstacles that get in the way.
I was completely caught up in the excitement of this mission as much as I was caught up in Cabe and Amy’s combustible romance as both had so much potential to blow up in their faces as they put their lives and their hearts at risk.
DEEP COVER is the third (and final?) instalment in Scarlett Cole’s contemporary, adult LOVE OVER DUTY erotic, romantic, military suspense series focusing on a group of childhood friends who own and work for Eagle Securities, a Special Ops firm formed by Navy SEALS Cabe Moss, Sixten Rapp, and Malachai “Mac” MacCarrick. This is thirty-four year old, former Navy SEAL Cabe Moss, and twenty-nine year old, FBI agent Amy Murray’s story line. DEEP COVER can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary although there is an on-going investigation from book one Under Fire.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Cabe and Amy) DEEP COVER follows the building but forbidden relationship between thirty-four year old, former Navy SEAL Cabe Moss, and twenty-nine year old, FBI agent Amy Murray. The FBI and the CIA has called in help from Eagle Securities in their hunt to take down a money-laundering operation, and a potential human trafficking ring operating out of one of San Diego’s largest gambling venues, The Lucky Seven Casino, owned by father and son Hemingway and Faulkner Woods. FBI agent Amy Murray, the daughter and granddaughter of two of Las Vegas’ most prolific poker champions has been tasked to go undercover as a Black Jack dealer, with the help and assistance of Eagle Securities. Enter former Navy SEAL Cabe Moss, the man with whom Amy will fall in love. What ensues is the building relationship between Amy and Cabe, and the potential fall-out as Amy is groomed by the casino boss for something bigger, something that Amy hopes will get her on the inside track to taking down the men responsible for a number of missing women.
Cabe Moss battles demons from the past, so much so that the death of his beloved fiancé, killed in action two years earlier, continues to control his highs and lows. Unable to move on from the past, Cabe finds himself struggling with his attraction to FBI Amy Murray, a woman that calls to his heart and his soul, but a heart firmly locked into the past. Amy Murray knows what it is like working in a world dominated by powerful men. Sexually harassed on the job by a superior Amy battles her attraction to Cabe fearing repercussions from the investigation that all but destroyed her career in the FBI.
The relationship between Amy and Cabe begins as a ‘fluke’, a quick meeting at a local bar before Cabe walked away without looking back. Working together meant the palpable sexual attraction did not go unnoticed by Cabe’s business partners, partners who themselves, fell in love on the job. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic, seductive and intense, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
The secondary and supporting characters are colorful, fun, sexy and sassy. We are re-introduced to Six and Louisa (Under Fire #1), and Mac and Delaney (Final Siege #2), as well as a number of former SEALs now working for Eagle Securities. With the approach of Six and Louisa’s upcoming nuptials it was fun watching a group of former SEALs trying to plan the wedding for their childhood friend. The requisite evil has many faces including Hemingway and Faulkner Woods, and the Russian syndicate Ivan Popov, Sergei Lemtov and Konstantin Sokolov.
DEEP COVER is a story of friendship, brotherhood, moving on from the past, and letting go. The premise is edgy, engaging and heartfelt; the romance is flirty, passionate and moving; the characters are intelligent, realistic and inspiring. DEEP COVER is a suspenseful and emotionally charged tale as one man comes to grips with his past, moving towards his own happily ever after.
My Review of “Deep Cover” by Scarlett Cole
Scarlett Cole, Author of “Deep Cover” has written a steamy sexy action packed novel. This is not the first book in the series, but can be read as a stand-alone. The Genres for this novel are Fiction, Women’s Fiction and Romance. The timeline for this story takes place within a two-year period, and goes to the past when it pertains to the characters or events in the story.
The author describes her characters as complex, complicated, and confused. Cabe Moss, is an ex Navy Seal and along with several other Alpha type friends often works along the FBI to help solve criminal activity. Cabe is grieving for the loss of his fiancée from two years prior. Cabe and his team are working with the FBI in to entrap certain individual in a major money laundering scheme. During this assignment Cabe meets FBI agent Amy Murray, who is looking into kidnapping and trafficking.
There is a casino that is suspected of money laundering and human trafficking. Amy happens to be a wizard at all casino games, works under-cover there. Cabe and his team are also responsible for Amy’s safety. There seems to be a major attraction between Cabe and Amy .This is a dangerous mission in more ways than one. Will there be more under-cover action?
I received this ARC from NetGalley for my honest review. I recommend this novel to readers that enjoy intense Romantic stories with some danger.
Deep Cover (Love Over Duty, #3) by Scarlett Cole This is the third book in a series and since I did not read the first two it took me a while to get into it. Cabe is a ex-navy seal who suffered the loss of his financee … partners in Eagle Securities with life long friends Six and Mac. Amy FBI operative …both working under cover …There are lots of feelings, danger, sex and of course a HEA.
Deep Cover is the third installment of the Love over Duty series. This is Cole Moss’s story. He is an owner alongside his friends Mac and Six of Eagle Security. It takes place 13 months after the events of Final Siege (book 2). He would do anything for his childhood friends but ever since they have found or in Mac’s case a second chance at love, Cabe feels that he will be alone after the death of his fiancée Jessica Ann Price.
Amy Murray is an FBI agent who has just transferred to the San Diego office. Her focus is missing women, a cause close to her heart. She is looking for a fresh start after being the victim of unwanted sexual advances from a senior agent.
By chance Cabe and Amy meet at pub and their connection is immediate but not all goes as expected. Now they find themselves working together.
Of the three books in the series this is my favorite. Agent Amy Murray is a strong willed character who can stand on her own. I enjoyed discovering things about Cabe like his love over a certain type of cake. His pain from the loss of Jess palpable. Cabe and Amy’s journey in the midst of finding themselves in a tricky case was written in a way that found you right in the middle of everything. I have to give this book my highest rating, five stars.

***4 Stars***
I must say that if this is the last book in the series, that I’m at a 50/50 split on really liking how everything was wrapped up to being a little sad because there are a few secondary characters that I’d really like to know more about. But in the end, this was a fun and easy read for me that, had life allowed, I would have finished quite quickly, but since that wasn’t an option I will say that when I could steal a few moments to myself, I thoroughly enjoyed it until the very last page.
I loved Cabe. Honest, loyal and sweet but he’s constructed titanium walls around his heart. I empathized with him, I did, because that kind of loss is something that one never gets over, but I also wanted to reach out and tear those walls down because he was such a good guy that he deserved to give himself a second chance to find love.
Amy was pretty damn amazing. Sassy, snarky, determined and highly intelligent. I mean this woman was a force. And then you add in her background ~ the good, the heartbreaking and the unique ~ little facts that make her who she is and she’s kind of everything wrapped up in a nice little package.
For all of the issues Amy and Cabe had to deal with, both personal and professional, I really liked how everything played out with their relationship. There were the ups and downs and a couple of bad choices tossed into the mix, but it was the fact that they actually communicated like mature adults through most of it that had me rooting for them. They were honest, or at least as honest as they could be depending on where they were at in their heads, and it made everything work for me. The smexy was definitely smexy, I loved their bantering and how much they simply respected the other on every level and where they ended up at the end of the book was perfect for them.
I’m still crossing my toes that this isn’t the last time we’ll hear about these characters, because there are definitely a few that I’d love to know more about, Harley, Lite and Buddha to be exact, but if this is a true farewell then I have to say it was done very well. We got to spend time with everyone and there was a nice little secondary storyline woven into the mix that definitely balanced the tension out with humor and heart and helped to tie up things quite nicely for all of these characters.

This book had all the pieces that usually attract my interest. A feisty heroine, protective hero, a good plot, and a strong secondary cast for backup. But, it didn’t work. My hiccup was with Amy and Cabe. They had all the right maneuvers, but they’re connection never clicked for me. They were almost too picture perfect, with very minimal drama. Considering their pasts, I think I was expecting something to appen yet it never did. Truly, I felt Cabe and his best pals had more chemistry than he and Amy.
I haven’t read the first two books in the series and with a brief summary, I had no problems following the storyline. I am curious about Six and Lou’s story and it’s all due to the funny wedding shenanigans the guys were dealing with in between casino tables and shady trafficking deals.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
For some reason, I really struggled to focus when I was reading this book. I have previously enjoyed Scarlett Cole’s writing, so I am not sure why. Amy and Cabe were fine. The story was fine. The side characters were fine. Just not remarkable for me. Maybe the subject matter, maybe distractions from real life? Who knows.
Cabe is an ex Navy SEAL and a founding member of Eagle Security. He has worked his very cute butt off to get it off the ground with Six and Mac but he is ever overshadowed by the memory of his fiancée being killed whilst he was away on a mission. Jess was military like him and he just can’t seem to shake her memory and what they lost.
Amy is an FBI agent who forever has the stigma of being the female agent who called time on her boss and his sexual misconduct. She doesn’t think the stigma has followed her to her new posting but she can never rest on her laurels. She wants some fun before undertaking her new case and has a close call with a hunky stranger but he disappears as fast as he appeared! But now he pops up again…as one of the security specialists she has to work with. Putting aside her hurt feelings she has to deal with Cabe.
Cabe is superbly written as the sensitive soul mixed with Alpha bad-ass! He truly loved and mourned Jess and feels conflict over his emotions when Amy is involved. He feels like he is cheating on Jess, even when he knows that she is gone and would want him to be happy. Amy is trying to be super professional, not wanting anyone to come at her as being the girl who climbed the ladder by sleeping her way to the top.
I love that whilst the male characters may be physically strong, their female counterparts are equally as strong in other areas, whether in intellect or emotionally. I loved how everyone got sucked into the madness of Six wedding! Amy’s family and friends from the world of gambling were just as fun and I enjoyed learning so much about the workings of a casino! What happens now?!?!?
I really enjoyed this book. I did not read the first two but will definitely go back and read now that I have met the characters in this book. I felt like the author definitely gave enough info to be able to read this as a standalone. This is Cabe’s story. Cabe Moss is a former Navy Seal, if you can ever truly be a former Seal. He and his Seal brothers/friends Six and Mac now run Eagle Securities with him.
They take on a job involving missing women from a Vegas casino and form a task force that includes the FBI. It is there where Cabe meets Amy Murray (well sort of), who is an FBI agent who desperately wants to solve this case because of her past. Cabe is having a hard time letting go of the memory of his deceased fiance but he is drawn to Amy. Amy does undercover in the casino and there are some pretty intense moments. Cabe will not let anything happen to her.
Good story, characters, suspense, and hot sexy romance definitely make me want to read more from this new to me author.
Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC of this book.
**I received a copy of Deep Cover from Net Galley and St. Martin’s Press in exchange for a voluntary and honest review**
Deep Cover by Scarlett Cole is the third book in her Love Over Duty series. While it’s not my favorite one it still has moments where you can’t wait to see what will happen next. I’d give it a 4.2 stars total and you’ll love Amy and Cabe trying to skirt their way around the non-fraternization rule.
Amy has just arrived in San Diego after a FBI transfer from her Atlanta office. She’s paired with Cabe Moss a former Navy SEAL and now part owner in Eagle Securities on a case with missing young women who worked in a casino. Amy’s family goes way back and is well known on the Poker series with her grandfather and father so she’s automatically comfortable going under Deep Cover as a table dealer at the Casino. But her focus is the missing girls as her mother disappeared when she was a child. But when things go south and a key Russian gambler kidnaps her will Cabe and his friends be able to rescue her before it’s too late?
Cabe Moss and his Eagle Securities teammates have agreed to work tandem with FBI, CIA to take down a big player in both human trafficking and money laundering. But with him still morning his fiancee death while deployed can he resist Amy when their attraction practically starts a fire? Since they both know that fraternization is frowned upon will they be able to resist each other and still find the missing girls? Can Cabe, Six and their team mates protect when plans change and Amy is kidnapped during a private party?
If you’ve read the Under Fire, Six and Dr. Louisa North will play a part in the climatic ending and of course their wedding will put the icing on the cake.
Amy is a FBI agent who’s just moved to California. She looks for missing women because her mom went missing when she was a little girl. They put her undercover as a dealer in a casino. Other agency are being brought in alone with some contractors. Cabe and his best friends are former SEALs and started Eagle Securities and are tasked to help. Cabe lost his fiancé to an IED and is not really looking for a relationship but when he meets Amy, his feelings are totally different than they have ever been. Amy wants to take it slow and wait until after the investigation is over. But they can’t keep their hands off each other but they still keep their relationship on the down low.
Amy gets chosen to deal at private parties and then is invited to deal on a yacht. They think this is how the women are disappearing and Amy is about to become one of them. Can Cabe and his team save her before she’s sold to human traffickers?
Best story ever. Plenty of action. The sex is WOW. The characters are strong and lovable. Will keep you up reading all night. I can’t wait for Ms. Cole’s next book. They make you feel like you’re right there with them.

Cabe is amazing!!
I really enjoyed this book. Cabe and Amy are just brilliant characters. They are both dealing with a lot of heart ache. Cabe ex Navy SEAL has been working his backside off to get Eagle Security off the ground with his 2 best friends Six and Mac (Who are both smoking hot) Things have been pretty crazy for them all since starting the security services. Cabe has had it easy he lost is fiancée Jess while on a job. She was everything to him they had a fortune planned and everything. Life was great until she was taken away from him. Nearly 2 year since she died it’s still hard for him to get over. But Six and Mac try there best to get his mind of it and his job is demanding so that also helps. There is also one people that has started to take his mind of Jess and that Amy the new Agent that they are working with on a case. Cabe really doesn’t know how he feels about the feelings he’s having for another woman. But when there connection is had strong as there’s is it’s hard to fight.
Amy is goin through her own crap after leaving her job over an incident and starting a new one. She was trying to keep her head down. She had finally gotten to be part of case that meant something to get and she wanted to put her all into it. That’s until Cabe walked into the room. There first meeting hadn’t been the best and the second wasn’t turning out to well either. Men weren’t meant to be on her mind after what she has been through. It not like she is off men or anything she has just had enough of the male in her line of work. The only thing is Cabe isn’t the sort of man that you can get out of your head easily.
This story was so good. I like how all the books connect with each couple. Six and Mac’s book were really good as well. The story had me hooked from the start I was dying to know how things were goin to work between Cabe and Amy but I was dying to know what was goin to happen in there case. It was like watching an investigation show with a sexy couple thrown in I was hooked. I m a huge fan of this author so there was no doubt that I was goin to enjoy this book. I knew she wouldn’t let me down. I really liked Amy and Cabe characters they have been through some hard times. But together they were perfect. I luvd how understanding Amy was. I don’t think there are many women out there that could be like the way she was. She put Cabe’s feelings before her own. There is one thing that I like about this series, its that the woman are just has strong as the men. There characters are so strong and they can give any man a run for his money. I would highly recommend this book and series. It’s just so good you wont be able to put it down once to start.
I love me a good SEAL story and this one does not disappoint! Amy is smart, confident and can hold her own. I love the behind the scenes Vegas stuff (it’s like the reader is being let in on little known secrets) and the tidbits that we learn about the inter-workings of a casino and card play. Cabe is smart and sexy – I love his emotions as much as his abs – not to mention he has the best friends/SEAL mates on the planet and the dynamics between them all are fun to read. Can’t wait to go back and read Mac and Six’s stories and hope that there are more to follow.
I love The way this author draws a smart female character and a guy who falls for her brains. Excellent dialogue. Loved all the stuff about gambling, counting cards, the actual business of running a casino (I’m not a gambler so this was intriguing to me) . Excellent blend of action, suspense and romance and a bit of humor too. I loved the guys planning Six and Louisa’s wedding. My only issue is, unless I missed it, how did Amy’s cover get blown? What’s next
Scarlet?
