Sometimes being bad feels oh-so good… woman he left behind.
January might be as beautiful and fierce
as ever now that she
runs a house full of firefighters
but Finn’s ghosts belong in the past.
As soon as he’s done at the cemetery,
he’s on the first flight out of Remington.
For good.
Even if he does get stuck in town
with January tempting him
at every turn.
But Finn’s ghosts won’t let go so easily.
Will he and January learn
to build new trust
Or will their past keep them
from falling in deep…
One dirty-talking, bad-boy hero + his former BFF who’s always wanted more + a touch of enemies-to-lovers, a firehouse fundraiser to warm your heart, and a whole lot of sexytimes to warm the rest of you = this standalone novella that ends in a sweet and steamy HEA.

I enjoyed this second chance story of Finn and January. Once the best of friends, one night, a kiss and actions that were never corrected, separated them for years. I liked that Finn recognized that he not only had reparations to make with the man he owed his success to, but to the girl he had left behind in the harshest of ways.
This is a sweet love story with low angst but holy heck was it steamy! Finn is a bit of a dirty talker and although he has a moment of idiocy, he was pretty swoon worthy. January knew what she wanted and that was Finn. I appreciated that she was strong enough to offer forgiveness and confident enough to voice her desires. Together, this couple burned up my Kindle.
This is a fast read that included several secondary characters. It felt a bit like they were being lined up in preparation of future books which is okay, but they didn’t really add a lot to this particular story. The conflict between Finn and January initially felt insurmountable but by the end it seemed to have ironed itself out. And then we have that moment of idiocy which added to the angst and made me want to smack this hero. Other than that, this was a very nice read and my first by this author. I’ll definitely be trying more from her.
This is my first book in this series and I fell in love with the people and the town. I am not a sports person at all but you don’t have to be to enjoy this book. Finn has to make up for somethings he did wrong 7 years ago. Coming back to his hometown will do just that. While he is there he meets back up with January his high school best friend. This book is quick but with a full story that makes you want to stay in the town of Remington.
*I received a free copy of this book via the author and am voluntarily leaving a review.*
Wow!!! Talk about steamy!!! This book is HOT in more ways than one! Yes it’s about the guys and gals at Station Seventeen, but it also involves one hunky hockey player!
Finn and January used to be friends but something came between them 7 years ago – can they move past the anger and back in the friends-zone? This is another great book by Kimberly Kincaid who knows how to write about “hot” guys in “hot” situations!
Second chance romance between Finn and January. Finn and January share a hot kiss 7 years ago at Finns going away party right before another friend catches them, which leads to a huge fall out. Fast forward 7 years and Finn wins the Stanley cup and brings it back to Remington, his hometown, to share with his best friend that died. Finn comes back to Remington to let go of his past, but running into January might just rewrite his future
This may me a short novella but it is so full of heart and soul!! It’s a sexy as sin second chance of sorts between Finn and January and it is flaming hot!!! I love both of these characters and was happy these old friends cleared the air and found the love of a lifetime in each other in the process. I love how she calls him Finnegan and he calls her Calendar Girl, it’s so sweet.
Finn comes back to Remington with the Cup after his NOLA hockey team, the Rage, wins it. He made a promise that if he ever won he would bring to his friend Asher to show him. Unfortunately Asher, who was a firefighter, died on the job in a fire a couple years ago, so his trip with the Cup will be to the cemetery. He also runs into January again who works as an Admin at the firehouse and who was the cause those many years ago of the rift that had been between him and Asher that he had never been able to repair while Asher was alive. The chemistry that had always been there only seems to have grown and soon Finn & January are doing a heck of a lot more than repairing their friendship. Their story is simply awesome and I loved the way they not only love each other but they truly help each other out!!!!
Great, quick read. Plenty of steam, fun hockey romance.
Finnegan has finally achieved his goal of winning the Cup, but the only person he wants to share it with most, his best friend Asher, has passed away. To make matters worse, Finn and Asher hadn’t spoken in the seven years prior and it all circled back to one steamy kiss between him and January, the third bestie in their tight knit circle. So, not only has Finn lost one best friend but two. Still, Finn moves forward and decides to use his day with the Cup to take it to Asher’s gravesite and share his win. When circumstances stick Finn in town longer than planned, he decides to make his apology to January in person, with unexpected results.
Finn and January’s past and future collide in spectacular fashion and I loved how these two just laid it all out to clear the air. Their chemistry was steamy and sizzled off the charts, but never once overwhelmed the emotional connection rebuilding between them. I also loved the family feel of the firehouse crew! Their friendly ribbing and camaraderie showed deep bonds and support. And poor Edwin! The keeper of the Cup must witness some very awkward moments with the players!
A missed moment, a new beginning…good gracious…the sizzling chemistry, and a touch of humor, Deep Check hit all my buttons with what I love best about friends to lovers/second chance romances! Apparently, I’ve also stumbled upon a new firehouse of hotties to read about too…
I love a good second chance romance and Finn and January did not disappoint. Their friendship and past sorrow make this story that much better. Great quick read!
GREAT STORY!! I love Station Seventeen and getting to know Finn and January was loads of fun! This is a quick story but not quick enough to give you whiplash. I enjoyed the even pace and it made the story fun, heartwarming and sexy. I can’t wait to read the next book!
I LOVED this second chance romance between Finn and January!!! A mix of Hockey and firemen and hotness!!! Kimberly Kincaid has never disappointed!!! I love her writing style and her characters. A MUST read!
One of my favorite stories is DEEP CHECK by the talented Kimberly Kincaid.
In this one the main characters are Finn Donnelly and January “ his Calendar girl”. If you have been a reader of Ms Kincaid , you will be happy to know that Station Seventeen is an important part of this story. Finn left town after a kiss that broke up friendships. Tragedy inspired him to become the very best in his field and he has come back mostly to honor his dead friend’s faith in him.
What I find amazing is that Ms Kincaid was able to create a thorough and deep plot in a novella without wasting any words. You did not feel she was cutting corners ,but rather, you felt all the emotions compacted in this story of forgiveness, redemption and second chances.
I was gifted this copy. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
Finn left town to follow his hockey dreams but he severed friendships in the mean time. Now he returns with the Cup to try and make amends. January doesn’t want to get pulled back into Finn’s world but he is too tempting! Friends from the Station Seventeen series make appearances!! Fantastic!
I floved this book! There’s so much packed into this novella that I fell right back into the world of Station Seventeen headfirst and didn’t look back. Finn is the broody center of the Cajun Rage, and this story originally featured in the Hot On Ice anthology.
This story is a story of coming home and getting closure. Only closure isn’t the only thing that Finn Donnelly finds when he starts mending fences with the two best friends he ditched when he left home years ago. Returning the conquering hockey hero, he ends up reigniting an old spark that quickly becomes a passionate inferno. As always, Kimberly Kincaid brings the heat, and this heat is an epic collision of a hockey star fresh off the ice and his second chance with one of the girls of the Station Seventeen firehouse. There’s heat, and romance, and heartbreak in equal measure as Finn and January go head to head.
You won’t want to miss this newest installment in the Station Seventeen series, be you a new fan or old!
