Underwater filmmaker Alec Galloway admires Dr. Mann and jumps at the opportunity to create a film showcasing the pretty biologist. Okay…okay…I said yes to reading Deep Blue solely because of the sharks on the cover. I might have an obsession with all things sharks, and as soon as I saw this book, I needed to read it. The good news is that the book turned out to be great! I had a ton of fun reading it.
It’s sexy and thrilling, and bonus points for the sharks. Deep Blue is a well-written, fast-paced romantic suspense. I love the research that was clearly done about sharks. There was a lot of facts here that made this feel authentic. I love when an author takes the time to get the information accurate rather than making everything up. Sometimes I want a little reality in my fiction, and Kristy McCaffrey succeeded in this!
I definitely recommend checking Deep Blue out. It’s the first in the series and I’m really looking forward to book 2!

I just finished reading Deep Blue, and Deep Blue Australia by Kristy McCaffrey – what wonderful books. I’ve found that sharks are quite fascinating. Both the full book (Deep Blue) and the short story are wonderful. The characters are well developed and the story line keeps you reading “one more chapter”.
DEEP BLUE is an amazing book! I am so in awe of this author’s ability to research her subject matter so thoroughly that she convinces me she’s ‘been there-done that,’ while developing a whole cast of characters at the same time! The result is a jaw-dropping adventure/romance that I couldn’t put down. Coming face to face with a great white shark is not something I ever want to do, but this book made me consider what this natural predator has to do in order to survive and the possibility he is far more intelligent than we give him credit for. Kudos to Ms. Kristy McCaffrey for checking all the boxes with this one!
Enjoyed reading this story. Although there is no way I would go in the water with sharks. Dr. Mann does research on sharks like her father before her. But her ex does something really stupid. Alec has liked her ever since he saw her documentary. Something developes between them when they work together. HEA
Really enjoyed this story, very informative about white sharks. Enjoyed the characters
Great read! Parts of it scared me, but I had to keep reading to see what happened next!
One of the most exciting books I’ve read. I didn’t want it to end as wish it was my real life.
DUUNNN DUNNN… DUUUUNNNN DUUN… DUUUNNNNNNNN DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN DUNNNNNNNNNNN DUNNNN
As someone whose mother would hide behind the sofa for you coming home from school to scare the bejeezus out of you by singing the Jaws theme tune… Well, you can imagine I’ve had a love/hate relationship with sharks ever since. Childhood trauma for one please! Honestly, it’s a wonder I’m the well-adjusted female you see before you today *snorts*. Oh, the stories I could tell, but I digress…
Romantic suspense is one of my favourite genres to read, (yes, I know I say that about almost every genre I read *rolls eyes* – perils of being an eclectic reader) so I’m always on the lookout for new authors/storylines to sink my teeth into (see what I did there?). And, boy, was this one a doozy. Plus, it’s the start of a new series *happy dances*.
When underwater filmmaker, Alec Galloway, is hired to film a documentary about up and coming marine biologist, Dr Grace Mann, and her work with Great White Sharks, little does he realise that his world is about to be turned upside down.
This story had me reaching for my metaphorical cushion at times to hide behind. I swear Grace was part fish, but she didn’t half give me heart palpitations at times. Now Alec, he gave me heart palpitations of a whole other kind *smirks* Whaaa? Don’t look at me like that *blushes*.
As the tag line says, this book is sexy and suspenseful – *sings* understatement *snorts*. The author’s attention to detail is evident throughout. Now I know that certain details of Grace’s research and experiences with the sharks were fictionalised, but the writing was such that I wouldn’t have known had the author not detailed this in her note at the end. I would have taken it all for fact, and no doubt repeated it as such in the future, lol. What can I say? I love learning new things.
Yet, sharks of the fish variety are not the sharks that Grace and Alec should be looking out for *mutters*.
As the saying goes, of which Grace and Alec can attest, sometimes you have to let the currents guide your heart. Cheesy, I know, but you know I’m a sap.
*sigh*
Read this on vacation, which allowed me to read straight through. A good storyline with strong characters. Will be reading next in series.
Interesting concept and relatively realistic regarding being living on a boat together during a high tension series of events.
Wow! Really well researched and delivered in an entertaining way that enhanced the story line. Excellent read!
If you love Shark Week, great characters, an original story, and great romance, this book is for you! I loved it!
I loved the book. It is one of the best I have read lately. I couldn’t hardly wait to review it.
Well researched and a lot of detail about sharks that I did not know.
Romance AND sharks?!?! What could be better?
I am intrigued with sharks and the romance was fun too.
Entertaining and original story, plot and characters.
Loved this book from the first page to the last.
I haven’t read a book like this in a long time.
Really enjoyed this story. The excitement of the sharks kept they action level high. There were a few places it was unrealistic to believe someone would be crazy enough to do this. Also seemed odd that her ex who was stealing her work, bad-mouthing her and willing to risk her life by exciting the sharks while she was in the water, somehow cared enough to be upset when he discovered she was in a relationship with someone else. But if you can ignore those things, it’s a good story.
