Jillian Spencer is bound and determined to make it as a topnotch newspaper reporter, but in 1940, that’s no easy task. Her chance comes when the president of the United States arrives for the dedication of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and her job is to report on this auspicious occasion. On her way to cover that story, her editor-in-chief redirects her to another news-worthy event, the … the Tuckaseegee flood, a catastrophic occurrence that occurred two days earlier leaving the lives of many mountain folks in shambles. While gathering information for the article covering the flood, Jill finds herself in a life or death situation.
Cameron Murphy, park ranger at Deep Creek Civilian Conservation Corps., is thankful to have been at the right place, at the right time. He soon learns that the woman he’s just rescued has a tender heart deeply touched by the suffering of his neighbors. He’s more than willing to help with her newspaper article, but as her dark eyes and determination pierce right to his soul, dare he hope that she’ll turn her tender heart toward him?

I really enjoyed this book by Ms Nemeth. I love how she makes history come alive. I’m not a big history fan, but I love reading her books. She is so good at details and she makes the whole story come to life. Also, I love how she describes the scenery do that you feel like you are right there. I highly recommend this book, even if you aren’t a big history buff. You will enjoy it.
Fair warning…after reading this book you’ll want to pack your bags for the trip to Great Smoky Mountains National Park!
I genuinely enjoyed reading the story that weaves the lives of Jill and Cam together and brings them to life. Female newspaper reporter in a male dominated profession…very intriguing!
I loved everything about this book. The author did an excellent job of making the scenery and people come to life. If you are looking for a book that has suspense, adventure, romance and faith in God, this is the book for you. I highly recommend this book.
Dedication to Love is book 2 in a 3 book series. They are novellas and for me to give a 5 star rating on any novella says a lot. I’m one of those readers who doesn’t like novellas – they are always too short. I love thick novels 350-3,000 pages or more. I read Outlander in one sitting. So you understand, this series had to be good, touching my heart and emotions (my criteria for a 5 star rating) or a page turner.
The book is set in the 1940’s in Smoky Mountains National Park. There is more than mere insight in the stories. The author was once a National Park Service Aide and some of the stories are based on actual things with an author’s take for a storyline. Some of the incidents are written in with a romantic twist that wasn’t there at the actual event. There are thousands of stories of people at different National & State Parks and an author can take one small story & develop a romantic novel. Of course names & dates aren’t the same. J. Carol Nemeth’s insider views just makes the series even better.
I bought this series and read it in one day. I highly recommend this series and author. No one asked me to review these books and all opinions are my own. I loved the series and the only thing I can complain about – they were too short. Would have loved at least another 300 pages added to each of the books in A National Park Romance Novella Series. All these books were well written and kept my attention
This is a wonderfully detailed story of how a camp turned into the a National Park. Following the life of a young female newspaper reporter in the 1940’s when it was mostly male reporters. Lovely setting and a fun story to take you back to the 1940’s in the Smoky Mountains. I highly recommend this book.
I, Christina Woody, received a free digital copy of the book from the author in exchange for my honest review.
J. Carol Nemeth has a way of taking you to the settings of her books, in this case it is the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. As crowded as this park has become it is nice to be able to see it through the eyes of the early days. The excitement of receiving a new assignment comes through and you will get totally involved in Jill’s happiness and competition with her brother. Having been to Biltmore Estates many times it is really great to see it as someone’s home, not just a national showplace. The author manages to combine a romance with a history lesson and makes you enjoy learning. I really enjoyed this book.
This is another great book!! I love books that take me back in time and history, and make it come a little more alive. Jill is one of the few women still breaking into a man’s normal job. When she meets Cam, there’s more to him than meets the eye, and you can’t blame him for not spilling everything for awhile. You know the most important parts already, the other is just icing on the cake.
I received a complimentary copy of this book, was not required to leave a review, and the opinion expressed is my own.
