But when her sister’s killer sets eyes on Mila, Deck will do anything to save her. Can Mila trust her heart and stay when she’s determined to walk away?more
I will start off with this is not normally the typical read for me. I’m pretty sure this is the first works of Heather Slade that I have experienced. But, let me tell you it definitely won’t be the last. This story starts out immediately with suspense, drama, danger and some hints of love added in slowly. The characters are Decker a rugged ranch manager and a freelance security and intelligence expert. When he finds a woman on the side of the road who dies in his arms he soon meets the sister and feels very protective of the beautiful Mila who Is determined to find out what happened to her sister, with the help of Decker. This is where the story really takes you to the “can’t put this book down”, “can’t read these pages fast enough”. This was a great story and I immensely enjoyed reading it even though it’s not normally what I read but I highly recommend it. Can’t wait for more. Am looking forward to the release of book two in the series.

An emotional second chance romance.
This story is so good!
Decker was just trying to get home to get some rest when he discovered someone laying alongside the road. Despite trying to save her, she passed away and he wanted to know why. When her sister, Mila, came to identify her body, both recognized the other but neither one said it. Now Decker has to keep Mila safe and convince her that he cares for her. And Mila has to trust him… which is easier said than done.
There is so much going on in this story but it’s so well written and developed that it really just carries you along for an incredible ride.
This is the first book in The Invincibles series and is amazing! It can be read as a standalone but remember that it is also connected to the K19 Security Solutions series, the Butler Ranch series and the Military Intelligence Section 6 series. So keep that in mind.

Mila has kept herself separate from people since an event nine years ago. She must travel from Boston to Texas when her sister is killed. Decker remembers Mila, and the instant connection between them. Mila does not mind being around Decker unlike her response to most men.
Can they discover the secrets behind her sister’s death, and can Decker prove he can be counted on?
Full of emotion and edge-of-your-seat tension. A gripping read, and brilliant romance.

What a start to Romance
I love the drama and action that Ms. Slade adds to a romance, or vice versa, either way it all flows at a fast pace, and I couldn’t put it down until I got that HEA that makes my world right again.
The 1st book of The Invincibles series. This one in Texas, surprisingly near and at the King Ranch which has ties to another series, tho this is a stand alone, and no cliffhanger.
The drama begins from the 1st page and never let’s up.
Through a twist of fate, Decker, who is wicked smart and doubly capable, and Mila, who seems rather shy, but beautiful, cross paths again. They have a chemistry that is hot, but needs to take a back burner though it’s always simmering, with all the revelations and chaos that have taken center stage in Mila’s ordinarily quiet life. A life she’s strived for, after losing her mom, and one terrifying night many years ago.
Thank goodness, Decker, along with the Invincibles, who have now conivingly convinced him to partner up with them, are very good at what they do. Together they need to figure out who’s who, who is after Mila, and most importantly, Decker needs to keep her safe.
This is an excellent intriguing, suspenseful, murder, mystery, Romance! I was “in” for the whole journey and recommend reading Decked. There’s more excitement coming up from this new series I’m looking forward to reading.
New Author to me and let me just say this one was everything and more that I love in a suspenseful romance. Grab on to your seat and enjoy the twists and turns, the whodunit and who can you trust…loved it!!
Entertaining enough/, but kind of predictable
Great suspense. I knew there was a reason why Mila didn’t want to be touched. Deck was very patient with her. Judd did what a father would do in the end.
Great story and characters. I will definitely read this author again.
Had tears in my eyes more than once. But the ending left me with a smile. A great read. Good mystery, good romance and my heart hurt on occation.
I enjoyed all the twists and turns in this book. I also enjoyed all the characters that will be in other books.
An excellent book!
I’m not a reviewer that rehashes the story, if you’re reading the reviews you know what it’s about. I’ll tell you what I look for in a review: what I liked (or didn’t) about a book. This is a great read. The story is engaging, the dialog is interesting, the characters are well developed and likeable, the story moves at a good pace (no lagging or rushing), there’s enough steam to fog your windows, and enough intrigue to keep you turning the pages. And if you enjoy audio books, this is a great one to listen to. The narrators were perfect! This is not my first book by Heather Slade, she’s fast becoming a favorite.
This was a good start to the series and I enjoyed it. Looking forward to the next book.
Terrific start to the new series The Invincibles that pops from the beginning with the hunky, in-charge Decker the guy with a few broken parts and the sweetheart Mila. Good storyline with intrigue and suspense with a few twists along with the sexy romance. Great secondary characters for future stories. Another winner for this fantastic author. I look forward to more of this series.

Just the absolute best story. It had me captivated from the beginning with the hot steamy scenes. I really enjoyed reading this book and I would recommend it! Everything I like to read about and more. Such a great story I will read again and again. A keeper!!

The storyline was well written, the plot flowed smoothly from page to page and the characters were written with such great detail and depth that I remained totally engaged throughout the entire book!
Wow what another sensationally written book from Heather Slade filled with heartache, secrets, horrible twists, passion, and love. Deck works as a freelance security contractor and a ranch hand. Mila has run away to Boston until a tragedy brings her back to her childhood Texas home. When Deck and Mila meet the chemistry between them was off the charts intense. Decked is a captivatingly, thrilling must read that readers won’t want to put down with wonderful characters readers will fall in love with. I really loved this first book in a new series from Heather Slade. I can’t wait for the next book in the series.

This is book one in The Invincibles series and it features Decker and Mila. They met ”once” way back in junior high/high school. When they saw each other again as adults, they immediately recognized each other. They have an easy attraction. When you just know someone is meant to be yours, things usually fall into place easily. Not so for these two. She’s trying to find out who and why someone killed her sister and Decker is helping her. It’s a very tangled web they need to navigate to get to the truth.
The story line was great but towards the end I could’ve used more information. The pace was great until the last four chapters, in which it suddenly felt rushed. Regardless, the story was good and I can’t wait for book 2.
If you’ve read this author before, you’re in for a wild ride with excellent characters where big city meets small town country. This is a new series and it’s off to a great start. If you haven’t read this author, just go ahead and one-click it.
Great character development and a mix of steamy relationships, intrigue and danger in just the right amount to make a fast paced enjoyable read. You’ll be eager for the next book. (I voluntarily reviewed an ARC).
