Best Friend Rule #1: never want the guy’s sister.
Oops.
Trent Salway is one of San Francisco’s hot up-and-coming-under-thirty bachelors. A highly successful mutual fund portfolio manager, a workaholic, and a ladies’ man, he’s got everything he could possibly want…except one thing.
Physical therapist Kelsey Quaid dumped her ex-fiancé six months ago because she was tired of not even being a … even being a distant second to his career. Which is why despite secretly crushing on her big brother’s best friend for as long as she can remember, there’s no way Kelsey can go there. One workaholic in her life is more than enough, thank you very much.
Before Kelsey’s brother leaves on his Navy SEAL mission, he asks Trent one simple request: make sure Kelsey isn’t dating any assholes while he’s away. As Trent does his best to do just this, he and Kelsey spend more and more time together. Sparks fly, as do a few items of clothing, and the next thing they know things are getting physical between them. Now, Trent has to decide what to do about the woman he’s falling for—the one whose brother would take him down faster than he takes down the enemy. And Kelsey will have to decide if Trent is just another workaholic or if he’s decidedly off limits.

Three stars? This was a fun story, but lacked character development, which made for a 2 dimensional plot and superficial characters. Kelsey has been in love with Trent since forever, but he is the brother of her best friend and the best friend of her brother. Kelsey is smart and sassy and secretly in lust with her best friends brother and unknown to her, he feels the same. When Trent finally takes action, he is very clear that he doesn’t do relationships so Kelsey agrees to a friends with benefits arrangement even though she knows she will have her heart broken. The usual sneaking around, ploys they engage in try to keep their arrangement a secret from their family make for an easy read. Pretty formulaic, enjoyable but nothing that makes it memorable.
Romance with a sizzle!
Kelsey has loved Trent since forever but he is her best friend’s brother and Erin has a hard and fast rule that Trent is off-limits to her friends! Besides that, he is a work-a-holic and Kelsey just ended a relationship because her Ex’s work meant more to him than she did.
Trent’s can’t help visualizing everything he could do to Kelsey if he wasn’t her brother’s best friend and Liam would literally kill him if he knew about the thoughts Trent was having about his little sister. When Liam leaves on another Special Forces mission he asks Trent to watch over Kelsey and protect her from guys who would hurt her. That means Trent has to spend way more time with her than he can handle without wanting to drag her into his bedroom.
It’s a steamy read with likeable characters! I really didn’t care for the sex sprint scene with the guy right before Trent. It was demeaning and so short I didn’t really think it lent much to the plot.
What fun book! Definitely a rom-c0m and entertaining as heck. As the summary says, if you’re offended by language that may/may not make a sailor blush, you may want to think twice before starting this one. It really isn’t that bad, but I suppose that depends on how sensitive you are.
The story isn’t a new one, but the twist that Trent and Kelsey put on it is hilarious. It’s fun, light, and entertaining. Some of the dialogue had me laughing out loud. It’s a fun start to a promising series.
This has got to be one of the sweetest brother’s best friend love stories ever! Trent and Kelsey are perfect for each other, but neither can see it. Trent needs Kelsey to balance out his workaholic life style, but has been burned too many times. Kelsey has been in love with Trent forever, but doesn’t think he could ever have those feelings for her.
Trent’s best friend entrusts his sister’s wellbeing to him while he is deployed over seas. Trent decides that this means he needs to keep her from falling in love with the wrong guy.
After a really bad break up with her fiance, Kelsey decides she needs to expand her herizons, and “find” herself. She decides this means trying to find a new hobby.
The vivid descriptions, solid character development, and constant surprises kept me enthralled. Trent’s antics and Kelsey’s sense of humor kept me laughing throughout, and I never knew what was coming next. This is the first book in the series, and I can’t wait to see who’s story is next!
Not as good as the second book, but I liked seeing how things started.
LOVED this book! Great Brother’s Best Friend Romance!!!
Loved the characters in this book. Ordered the second book as soon as I finished the first.

I’m a huge fan of older brother’s best friend books, but this one had the added addition of best friend’s brother as well. Kelsey and Trent were wonderful main characters. I kept waiting for the time that they would finally admit that they couldn’t stop thinking about each other, and then I couldn’t wait for them to finally admit to each other that they were in love. The secondary character’s really helped add to the story, especially Holly. You wanted to hate her but at the same time you just couldn’t help love her. And I think that’s how Kelsey felt too. I’m looking forward to reading more from this series!
