From an early age, Declan Reede’s only goal was to race in the ProV8 Championship Series. One thing he couldn’t anticipate was that a blistering kiss shared with his best friend, Alyssa Dawson, might derail his plans.
While he knows things between them will never be the same, it’s impossible to predict just where the road … just where the road will take them, or how rocky it might get.
Will he decide to fight for love or follow his dreams?
Warning – Due to adult content & language this series is not intended for anyone under the age of 18.

Decide is a novella. It gives insight into the life of Declan Reede as he grows up with the dream of being a V8 Driver. Decide also explores his relationship with his best friend Alyssa.
Declan and Alyssa have a tumultuous relationship. Most of their problems stem from a lack of open, honest communication. Plus the fact they are teenagers- a very intense, confusing time in most peoples’ lives when it comes to love. I’m not sure they are meant to be together. Alyssa doesn’t support Declan in his dream. It seemed to me, he was the only one really trying to make the relationship work. Alyssa seemed unwilling or unable to compromise. Again, I attribute these problems mostly to their young age. Being apart and maturing may be just what they need to make their relationship work.
Decide is a very engaging book. It flows smoothly and kept me interested from beginning to end. Her writing style is very easy to read and contains enough detail to allow me to visualize the scenes she wrote. Declan and Alyssa are likable characters. His parents are supportive of his dream which I found refreshing. Too often, parents don’t support their children when their dreams are not the traditional school(college/trade), career, marriage, kids. Since the author, Michelle Irwin, is from Australia the book contains some Aussie terms. She has included a helpful glossary explaining their meanings. She also writes enough context clues in the story to make the terms easy to understand.
I have read other books by Michelle Irwin and enjoyed them as well. I recommend Decide and can’t wait to read Decline, the next book about Declan Reede.
This was my first Michelle Irwin’s book. This is the book 0.5 in the Declan Reede : The Untold Story Series. This short story is an introduction to Declan and Alyssa’s story, that sits when they were teenagers. The storyline is well written and describe realistically the high school life, with all the lack of communication, the jealousy, the misunderstandings, the first loves, and the firsts big and difficult decisions to take. The story has only Declan’s POV. Overall, I liked the story, and after this short prequel to the Series, I would like to listen to the next book in the Series to know what happens next. The narration was well done. Stuart Anderson has a great voice, and a great pace. I received this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily written this review.
What a start to this series. I remember my high school times well, and this beginning of Declan and Alyssa is spot on to that inner teenager that I recollect! These two are best friends when the realize they have stronger feelings than friendship. When they give their relationship a try, they find themselves in true of that age breaking up and fighting more than enjoying their time together. I could relate to Alyssa so easily. Planning a future and trying to figure out what the next step should be is something I think a lot of girls do. Declan, that typical male makes decisions on impulse, and I can’t wait to see what is going to happen next! This left on a slight cliffhanger, just leaving a taste for wanting more of their story!
This is my first narration by Stuart Anderson, and I loved it! His voice is perfect for this age, his pacing is great and I loved the angsty feel he gave the characters. It’s a wonderful start to the series!
