Felix and Lane are struggling with just how boring a “normal” life is, so when they get a chance to jump into action, they do so without a second thought—especially since they’re offered a lot of money. The request is simple: find a way to retrieve a watch from police custody. But things are never as easy as they seem. Suddenly, they’re caught in the middle of a family feud that could turn … deadly. But no matter what, through kidnappings, car chases, and cooking mishaps, Felix knows that as long as Lane is by his side, they will find a way to set things right.
Deception in Darkness is 100k words of snark, stripping gone horribly wrong, and true love. Oh, and Felix steals another animal. Of course he does.

I am absolutely in love with this series! I laughed so much that the cats stared at me like I was crazy, and my daughter left the room because I was annoying her with my happiness.
I just adore Felix’s snarky comments and horrible jokes. And Lane’s dry responses are priceless. The two of them are so funny together, yet the love between them is evident throughout the book. There is even one sexy scene when they get a little sentimental. Of course, we can’t forget the *slight spoiler* strip tease which totally balances the romantic scene out.
A new character is introduced in this story, Calyn, or Cal. We don’t learn much about his personal history, except for a few things toward the end of the story. I look forward to reading his book in the future.
Once again, Lane and Felix get involved with a convoluted situation that involves breaking into police stations, mansions, and exclusive clubs. Of course, the thrill of it all turns Lane on, which just turns Felix into an excited little man. The stealing of anything Felix can get his hands on also makes it well worth his while. Felix even attempts to dance! And it would not be a true In Darkness story if Felix did not acquire a new pet .
The playful banter, the trouble they get into, and the love that is evident between them is what makes these books one of my favorite series in a long time. I cannot wait for this to come out in audio. I’m not sure which is more hilarious!
Happy reading!
* I received an ARC of this book. *
Deception in Darkness is the third book in the In Darkness series. I highly suggest reading all the previous books in this series first before starting this one.
Felix and Lane are a fantastic couple who are so perfect for each other. They balance each other out, but even more, they feed off each other’s energy which gets them into some of the most zany and strange adventures. The book is full of Alice Winter’s trademark humor and sarcasm, with great banter between all the characters. The audiobook was well done and I really liked listening to it.
**********Contains Spoilers**********
Wow, Alice Winter has done it again. I was hooked from page one and couldn’t put it down. Felix and Lane are amazing together and man do they get up to some trouble which seems to spread in this book and each situation gets worse. Lol they really should’ve listened to listened to Lane’s dad Tom when he told them not to steal the watch from Police Custody that they original stole or borrowed from Chase as he wanted it back as his father had left a 3 digit code in the watches he gave Chase and his brother Frank to open up a safe after his d*ath. I loved getting more of Cal and fingers crossed we get a book where he reunites with Grayson as even though he calls his an a*sehole it’s obvious that they both really care for each other and Cal needs someone as he’s in so much pain, especially after having to k*ll all the bad guys who’d abd*cted them and taken them out to the middle of nowhere to dispose of as per Iris’s Berrel’s (Chase and Frank’s barely legal step mum) instructions, and afterwards Cal is extremely angry at Felix for making him k*ll again and then shatters. I’m guessing he was in the Army like Grayson. Felix’s dancing routine was hilarious when he was posing as a new dancer at Frank’s str*p club to rescue Chase. I liked getting to meet Antonio who also dances at Frank’s club and is in love with Frank. I love how much sh*t Felix, Lane and Cal give him about it, considering Frank is a bit unfortunate looking and is also an a*sehole so his lack of personality doesnt make him more desireable. I’m looking forward to reading their book next. I’d recommend this book, series and author to everyone.
This book 3 in the series continues the story of Felix and Lane and it is simply amazing. The evolution in their relationship, the banter between them and between Felix and all the other characters is so hilarious that I spent a great part of the book laughing aloud. I loved how sweet they are as a couple and how they found a way out of any difficult situations Felix put them on. The book is entertaining, interesting, romantic and totally unpredictable. I strongly recommend to read it in order after the other books in the series to fully understand the unique characters and their relationship. Brilliant!!
Felix and Lane are at it again!! I love serious yet unserious this book was. Yeah there are robberies, blackmailing, shootouts and chase scenes but with Felix behind them all you can help reading with a smile. You can see the bond growing between Felix and Lane and between Lane’s family as well. Excellent read!!
While I really enjoyed the first two books in this series, I freaking loved this one! I listened to the audiobooks of those 2, but since I was anxious for more of Felix and Lane, and didn’t know when the audio for this one was coming, I went ahead and grabbed the ebook and I’m so glad I did! I admit, I wasn’t sure if the humor would be as funny just reading as compared to hearing Joel narrate, but only 3% in and I had already laughed out loud multiple times. I just adore Felix, he is so crazy and so over the top, and completely inappropriate. And I love how Lane loves him- he humors him and just lets him be himself. These two are proof that opposites do attract.
While Felix and Lane once again get into some crazy situations, and there was plenty of action and adventure, this book was much lighter than the first two, and I think that’s why I loved it best. I was kind of thrown off-guard with the “darkness” in Hidden In Darkness and A Light in the Darkness, everyone always talks about how funny these stories are, but really no mention of the violence or creepiness. And I never read any reviews, just went by the recommendations in some FB groups, so I don’t know if it I could have been forewarned if I had read any, but that’s neither here nor there.
I loved that this book didn’t have the heaviness or darkness of the previous 2, although there was a moment of concern that luckily turned out well! There were a lot of twists and turns that kept me guessing and rethinking what I thought I knew. And it was just so funny and out of control, it’s a wonder this crew doesn’t end up in jail or even dead.
I honestly wouldn’t mind if this series continued on indefinitely- I’m not sure I’d ever get sick of Felix and Lane.
