Book three in the Highland Brides of Skye series another good short story in this series. This is Linnae Donald and Jacob MacKinnon’s story. Well Malcolm did not see that coming. I wonder if there will be more in this series. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Deception is the third book in the Highland Brides of Skye series. I have really been enjoying this series of historical romances. The characters are interesting and well defined. The storyline is well written, with twists, deceit, betrayal, and romance. I hope there will be more stories in this historical romance series.

The last in the series, this one is a great story to the very end. Maybe my favorite of the three! This is Jacob and Linnae’s story and it really kept me glued to the pages to see what would happen!! Jacob MacKinnon was to marry Lady Allison, granddaughter of the dying MacKenzie laird. It was a union to bring two clans together. But others were not happy about it and attack the carriage that the lady is on and leaves only a serving girl, Linnae Donald alive. She has to pretend to be Allison and the journey begins.
Loved this story and this short series… Even though it can be read as a standalone, you want to read each one!
To bring peace a marriage has been arranged, only for the bride to be killed so that the union would not go forward. Now the only survivor of the dead lady’s companions has a decision to make, will she marry to keep peace or not. Lots of action and passion between the primary characters.

An act of war at the end?
I bet these three young women who looked for safety only to become controlled by Malcolm Donald (who plans to use them to rule the Isle of Skye) had mixed feelings when it was all said and done. The three books have feature each lady and showing their challenges in a beautifully written way. In book three Linnae Donald is mistaking for the murdered Lady Allison when Lady Allison betrothed Jacob MacKinnon finds them and that just starts what turned out to be a wonderful love story and so very sad in parts. What I found interesting is that the story ended but perhaps not the series we can only hope. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
Tarah Scott does not disappoint.
If you enjoy tales of hunky Highlanders and strong women, you’ll devour this tale as fast as I did! What begins as young women are traveling on the way to the Highlands, things turn sour. Yet despite being afraid, one young girl rises above what’s happening around her to do what is best for the clan. She remains true to herself and others amidst uncertainty and danger. Love reading about strong women! Even though there isn’t the ending I expected, I cannot wait to read the rest of the books in this series.

Lady Allison is n her way to wed Laird Jacob McKenzie, however the carriage is attacked, and only one lady survives, but it isnt the lady , but a maid Lennae. Assumptions are made when she is found because she is wearing a ladies clothing which had been a gift of her former Lady Mistress Allison. As events progress, she is at the point that she must reveal her identity, and therein lies the real story. Enjoyable story!!

A beautiful love grows from tragedy!
Linnae is one tough young lady. A servant girl who is very close to Lady Alison, she’s suddenly forced to take her lady’s place after a vicious attack by an enemy clan. Jacob is Lady Alison’s intended, and the goal of the impending marriage is to protect both clans against the villainous Donalds.
There’s enough suspense and intrigue to fill several books, and it’s all brilliantly compacted into one novella length story. Jacob is a true hero, a man bound by honor yet full of compassion and willing to sacrifice anything for the sake of his people. His relationship with the elderly Lyel was wonderful to watch, a shining example of how to lead with one’s heart.
I loved that Linnae, even though she found herself in an unbelievable position, still was willing to stand up to Jacob and ensure she was treated respectfully. Events moved very quickly in this story, and the stunning conclusion was exactly as it should have been. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Loving this series. The books are short but packed with a punch of suspense, adventure, and romance. Can’t wait to see where this leads.

Best of the Bunch
And so we end this series of very short novellas about the Highland brides on the Isle of Skye. Like the other books, I felt like too much was attempted to be fit into a story of such short format, though this book was a little better in terms of feeling more complete. It also felt like there was more to the story, not just swift-moving action but some surprising twists. I’ve recently read a novella that was about the length of each of these stories in this series; it was exceptionally well done in keeping the size of the story appropriate for the length of the book. So that is why I am probably a bit more sensitive to the fact that the books in this series had stories that needed a longer format.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
Third book in the Highland Brides of Skye and it’s another quick read, this time it involves a case of mistaken identity when the maid is the only survivor of a carriage accident and the Laird mistakes her for his betrothed.

Lady Alison is traveling to her grandfather’s home to marry Jacob with 3 of her maids. Jacob is rumored to be handsome, brave and strong while Alison is a bit of a spoiled beauty. Attacked by brigands along the road, a terrible accident occurs and the carriage plunges down a ravine, killing three. Alison’s ailing grandfather insists on an immediate marriage to seal the alliances between the clans before mayhem occurs in Skye. Interesting twists in the story, well written.
