I wasn’t sure what to expect when I started this book and I figured I would give it a try..and boy am I glad I did! Every chapter in the book had my mind blown and dying for more information and wanting to find out what was happening and why it was happening.
This is a dark, crazy read and I loved every second of it. It made me cry, it made me swoon, and a couple scenes in particular had me yelling NO!!!
You can’t help but love Creed and Sophia’s connection. He’s silent and full of reasons why she should stay away, but of course with a guy like that how can she? He makes her feel safe after everything poor Sophia went through.
I still can’t believe everything that happened to her, my heart broke as I read it all. And now with book two, I can’t even imagine what will happen in that! All I know is I’m dying to find out more!
Something is off…
This book seems off to me for some reason. I can’t quite figure it out. Something is nagging at me that I can’t quite just put my finger on. Creed and Sophie are like characters I have met before. I need to go check my Pepper Winters books to see if there is any connection. Their story rings like one that has been done before. I struggled with finding this authors true voice in this book. I kept coming back trying to immerse myself in it, but I couldn’t catch this authors flow or rhythm to her writing. I will be seeing in book 2 if she can pull it together.
Kidnapped, forced into horrible conditions until finally Sophia is rescued by her brother and his secret special forces team. Creed was one of the men that rescued Sophia from the depths of hell. He is a mystery, yet being stuck together in a house, Sophie finds herself more intrigued by him than scared. Can he protect her without his feelings becoming more? Will they find out why she was taken in the first place? This book is a slow burn but oh how good it feels. Creed is the silent hero we all want! I cannot wait for book 2 as this ends in quite the cliffhanger so be prepared.
Oh Sophie, Sophie — I absolutely loved her. She not only was broken, but she was such a tough girl that I admired her for not breaking completely and allowing to be completely broken. She took it day by day, all the beatings and abuse and she handled it with grace.
Sophie has always been a good girl, never straying and/or doing anything she shouldn’t. She was a sweet girl, always happy and willing to help anyone out. But after what she went through and was rescued, she pretty much shut down and wasn’t the same Sophie anymore.
Now that she’s been rescued, she’s sheltered due to the dangers lurking in the outside. The last thing Garrett (her brother) wants is for something like this to happen again. He is not going to jeopardize loosing his sister again.
This book had some pretty strong elements and it was heartbreaking reading the beginning chapters of this book. I was completely and utterly sad to read what Sophie was going through. That is something no one wants to experience, I’ll tell you that for sure. But Sophie is my hero because she pulled out of this ordeal and picked herself back up and even though she was a little skeptical at first, she eventually learned that not everything is dark and gloomy. There is room for love somewhere inside her pretty little heart.
S.M. Soto is a new author to me, but I am so happy to have discovered her because I absolutely loved this book and her style of writing.
First of all, I would like to thank Everglow, the blogger of the Chronicles of a Bookshelf calling my attention to this masterpiece. I’m eternally grateful.
The story can be read from Sophie’s point of view, who was abducted on the day she moved to her new home. At the beginning we meet with some retrospect, but just until we find out how she got there and what horrible things she had endured. Speaking of horrible things, the genre of the book is dark romance, thriller and romance. Among our domestic publishers, I would/can categorize it to the „Könyvmolyképző Rázós” category. The main theme of the book is the slave trade and (paid) secret missions for assassins. All men were invited for different reasons, and they are just the top in their fields. Why is this important? Because Sophie’s brother, Garrett, is one of these men, as well just as her savior, Creed. /I’ll tell you about them later./

In Deception and Chaos we met Sophia, a college student who has been kidnapped, beaten and mentally abused for nine months, and almost sold into slavery. She is unknowingly rescued by her brother, Garrett’s “special task force”. While convalescing at the tasks force’s cover house, Sophia falls in love with Creed, the man with the beautiful gray eyes who rescued her. The only man that truly makes Sophia feel safe. Creed AKA Divalo “The Devil” is determined to keep the sweet Sophia away from the darkness of his life but their connection is inevitable as is chaos. You see, the mastermind behind Sophia’s kidnapping is not finished with her. Deception and Chaos ends with Sophia getting kidnapped again AND the possible deaths of Creed and Garrett.
Let me tell you, these two books cover some rough topics: kidnapping, human trafficking, sex slavery, rape, murder, torture, and let’s not forget there’s always sex, love, and unplanned pregnancy. S. M. Soto does not hold punches. Everything is described….the fear, the pain, the smell, the panic, the blood, the heartfelt emotions. There were times when things got so intense that I had to close the book and walk away for a little while but I always came back. I can’t promise that this series will end wrapped up in a pretty little happy ending bow. But, if you love a mafia romance, then this series is for you. I give it 4 out of 5 propellers.
I had no idea what kind of a ride I was about to embark on with this book! I had no idea just how much I was going to love this huge world that S.M. Soto has created – how I would end up thinking about it days after I finished reading and absolutely dying for the next book to come out!
Creed is definite force to be reckoned with and I definitely think the mysterious vibe of him is what will engage you the most. However I do believe it’s the trials and struggles that Sophia goes through that really opens your eyes to an epidemic that is going on.
The first few chapters were tough- my heart was pounding and I had no idea it was going to be so rough so fast. But once I got through the first few, I somehow trusted that the author was going to give us redemption! And she did! Over the coarse of the book, I healed with Sophia, I wanted to see her wings spread again, and I wanted that love for her. And somehow it seemed perfect that Creed would do those things for her!
This book left on a cliffhanger but it only left me with wanting more. I LOVE the dark mafia, Government, bad boy world I she has created. I completely fell for the mysterious guy and I cannot wait to see where this ride takes me!
Sophia is living a quiet life but is shattered when she is kidnapped. A heartbreaking time for her. She is sold and chaos ensues when she meets Creed. This story had so many twists and turns. I loved reading how things come together. The next story should be really interesting.
Absolutely Blown Away!!! This book is so freaking good, so unpredictable, and so addicting all in one. I wasn’t prepared for this new to me author to blow me away with her writing the way she did.
Deception and Chaos drew me in with the realness of Sophia’s journey through the darkness of hell, the suspense of not knowing if she would survive, and the danger that lurked around every corner was enough to keep me breathless. Her falling for her rescuer/protector is really when the story gets so freaking good. Creed has these walls up and secrets that he is sure when Sophia finds out just really who he is will send her running. Just when things start heating up and you think everything is going good…..BAMMMM!!!! You are totally blown away and left wanting and needing the rest of their story.
This book is so freaking good and I can’t recommend this one enough!!!
Happy Reading Everyone!!!

Holy smokes, this book leaves you on the edge of your seat! This was my first book by this author, but it surely won’t be my last. Loved it and can’t wait for the next one.
This book is amazing!! It hits everything you need in a romance book – dark, suspense, sexy, romance.
I devoured this book so fast! The characters are dark and intriguing. It takes so many twists and turns through the whole book. I felt anxiety, compassion for Creed, hate toward Garrett, and all the feelings in between.
Creed and Sophia always had the connection, but creed wouldn’t give in. I loved watching the attraction develop. It is one of my favorites. The shock factor of this book is HUGE!! I can’t even wrap my brain around how this book ends….. warning….. ends with cliffhanger!!!
This is one of my top reads of 2019 so far!! She creates a world that draws you in and leaves you begging for more!! I need blood and chaos now!! You will feel the same way!!! But it today!!
This book was my first by Ms Soto and wow what a way to be introduced to her. I couldn’t put this book down. I was instantly immersed into the characters lives. The way she writes makes you feel like you are right beside them. Do yourselves a favour and one click now
I’m trying to gather my thoughts to write this review and it’s almost impossible! Deception and Chaos was a pulse pounding ride of terror and hope and joy and pain. My emotions are all over the place and my mind is blown. The reader is grabbed by the throat from the first few sentences and never released! Even the ending grips you tight. I loved the characters and how all the secrets started unraveling as the story raced the reader to the end. This book was absolutely amazing and I can’t wait to read the conclusion!
Chaos and Deception is phenomenal, it’s made its way to the top of my list for 2018.
Be warned this book contains triggers such as abuse, and violent content (sorry that’s all I can say without giving anything away)
This is my first read by this author and it didn’t disappoint one bit.
The writing was flawless, it flowed perfectly your can feel the characters emotions seeping through the book as you read along.
Sophia was living a normal quiet life until she was thrown into the pits of hell, the torment and abuse that she endured broke her, but also made her stronger in a sense.
Creed on my Creed, his character had me swooning so hard. Can I call Dibs on him???
When you think everything is slowly working itself out and things are finally looking up for Sophia BOOM it all exploded and we are left with a crippling cliffhanger ending… I’m dying for part 2 now..
Seriously this book is a MUST Must read, it’s fantastic
This book was amazing. I didn’t know what I was expecting but what I got was more.
Ohhhhh my Lord!!! This book is AMAZING…
Deception and Chaos by @authorsmsoto is freaking insane. It’s raw, dark, twisted, suspenseful, drama filled and deliciously chaotic. This is the first book by this author and it won’t be my last.
I had so many different emotions throughout this book but all I can think about right now is Creed. I need the next book like yesterday, I need to know what happens next.
I have been a reader of S.M. Soto’s for some time now. She reeled me in with a friends to lovers romance that was sweet and perfect, my typical go to read. But I will be honest, when Deception and Chaos came before me to read, I was a little hesitant to read a dark romance even if it was my one of my go to authors. I know that sounds a little close minded, but when I read I want hearts, rainbows, and simple HEAs. Deception and Chaos is absolutely none of those things. But I can tell you without a doubt I am so happy that I took a chance on meeting Creed and Sophie.
Soto’s Chaos release was just that. Chaos. It was dark, gritty, brutal at times. I will admit in the beginning I just wasn’t sure if I could handle all the horrible things that were happening to Sophie. But then like an arc angel, Creed flew in and changed everything for both Sophie and me. He was entirely closed off, broody and so not my typical book boyfriend, but yet there was something vulnerable that Soto created within his layers that made me fall head over heels hopelessly in love with the devil.
Deception and Chaos was such an addictive read. I found myself reaching out for this novel at any spare moment I had. Immediately each time, I was lost into the well written story that Soto created. The characters, the secrecy and hope she created riveted me until the last page was turned. I am so happy that I took a chance on reading something outside of my comfort zone and discovered yet another novel by Soto that I can easily recommend to my fellow readers. Creed is not a book boyfriend you want to miss out on!
My first 5 star read of 2019! Holy cow, this book totally blew me away! The story was tough at times but I felt that it made me connect with the characters more. Strong writing, superb plot. I am dying for the next book!
SHUT THE FRONT DOOR!!!!! What in the hell did I just read? This book has it all, I have no idea where or how to even review it. If you are not one that likes to read books that involves violence against woman or about sex trafficking then I will say this book is not for you at all.
The book starts out with out heroine Sophia. The first few chapters go back and forth between the past and present, but you really need it to get the back story. She is a college student that works 2 part time jobs. She lost her parents at a young age, but has an older brother who she is close too… Or is she?? I don’t want to go into great detail as to what happens to her and how she does meet the here, because I am afraid I will end up spilling the whole story. All I can say is I am so looking forward to the next book in this series, because just when I thought I may have had the mystery figured out I found myself second guessing myself until the end. Can January hurry up and get here so I can see what happens next…
