Deception and Chaos is book one in S.M. Soto’s new Chaos Series and it has left me with a killer book hangover… seriously a gut punch right in all your feels. I’m not even sure where to begin to describe the beautiful chaos that is this book..you will feel so many emotions while reading this one… I literally sobbed while reading certain parts, threw my kindle multiple times & walked away to compose myself more than once. D & C was gritty & dark like really dark with the potential for some triggers for some readers; but if you push through the darkness it’s so so worth it. PLEASE Don’t let the darkness scare you because underneath it all is the beginning of Sophia & Creed’s story…GAH! I loved these two so hard
Without rambling on any further I will just say this..this book was filled with twists & turns, secrets & lies, love, darkness, tragedy, hope, family & one epic ending…there is no review that I can write that will do proper justice to how good this book was So please read Deception and Chaos and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did Now if you’ll excuse me I have a book hangover to nurse and a corner to sit and rock in until the next book in this series comes out
Wow! What an introduction to this authors work. I am a huge lover of anything dark and what Sophia went through in the beginning of this story is every woman’s worst nightmare. Snatched from her life, held captive, tortured daily and prepared to be sold to the highest sick bidder, she wishes at times they would just go one step further and kill her.
Alas this isn’t the case, she finds herself going from one prison to another. only this one has a slew of hot mercenaries vowing to protect her at all costs. And one in particular catches Sophia’s eye, Creed. Who wouldn’t be attracted to a large well muscled, tattooed bad boy. Though he may look good on the outside his insides are as dark as the pits of hell. He’s a cold, calculated killer after all, but Sophia sees something else when she falls into his slate grey eyes.
This book is written from Sophia’s POV and is definitely not for the faint hearted as it does contain scenes that some may find disturbing. Me, I have a black heart and can’t wait to find out how this story continues. Is it 2019 yet? No? Oh well I’ll be waiting impatiently for part 2.
This will be one of your favorite reads for the year, hands down! This book has it all. It’s an emotional rollercoaster with super hot scenes for the romance in the book and has heart stopping action scenes that will have you reading faster to see what happens. It’s angsty and heart wrenching and guaranteed to be one of your favorite books!
I honestly don’t know how to review this book. S.M Soto is a new author to me and not knowing what the story was about I was completely out of my comfort zone and what a ride it was!
To say I was an emotional wreck is an understatement. This is intense from the start and I was having heart palpitations from the first chapter in.
I wanted to throw my kindle, scream and cry for the torture and torment that Sophia endured.
Deception and Chaos is dark, gritty, raw and powerful. It is a story about survival, hope and love.
The ending was not at all what i was expecting and I am counting the days till book two!
Thank you S.M Soto for your amazing words.
I highly recommend Deception and Chaos!

I honestly don’t even know where to being reviewing this book. After a few chapters I did not know if I’d be able to keep going because it was so intense, but at the same time I just couldn’t stop reading as the words and events were consuming, like a bad accident I couldn’t take my eyes off of. The words did get easier to read and they were just as addicting. This book is very much chaotic as it is deceiving! So many twists and turns, some expected some not at all! While this book is dark at times and not for everyone because of triggers it is very well written with strong characters. There’s bits of humor and lots of steamy moments that help ease some of the hardcore emotions experienced at the start. There is a cliffhanger which of course left so many unanswered questions, but I’m excited and anxious to find out what happens!
I do not even know where to begin! Deception and Chaos is a raw, gritty read full of intriguing revelations and a bit of a dark romance. The author sucked me in right from the first page and I didn’t want to put the book down, but sometimes you have to go do important things like work or eat. The first 8 chapters are an emotionally rough read as it is during the time Sophia is held captive. The author is very descriptive and it may be a trigger for those who have suffered from abuse.
Without giving anything away, just know that Sophia is a strong, well-developed character who has been through so much. There are two supporting characters that I love. The one is her brother, Garrett. The other is dark, mysterious, and closed off with a dubious past, but a heart deeply buried underneath all those layers. There are secrets, lies, and a big twist at the end. This book does end in a cliffhanger so considered yourself forewarned. Fortunately, the 2nd book will be out in a few months.
This book is told entirely from Sophia’s POV which seemed fitting for this type of book, but I really would have liked if there were just a few chapters told from Creed’s POV as I would love to get a look into his mind.
I received this book as an ARC and I voluntarily leave this review.
Well damn… This is my second read by this author and it keeps getting better and better. The cast are characters aren’t few. There are many different characters that make an appearance. All of them hold secrets. Many of them you can’t help but be suspicious about.
I loved how this read wasn’t an insta lust. Couldn’t be. The storyline and the characters themselves wouldn’t allow it. The chemistry between Sophia and Creed was palpable. Creed tried to give her the brush off. I’m mean the guy was a real dick. Yet every wall he tried to erect, Sophia would break straight through. She was just as stubborn as him. She wasn’t giving up without a fight.
The last couple of chapters made me laugh, swoon, and cry out in utter horror. Book two, Blood and Chaos, can’t come fast enough. I need the damn book like yesterday. My heart was in my throat. I kept praying and hoping.
HOLY Cahooot! MY brain had spinned out of control. This was my first read from SM. SOTO and wont be my last. I was expecting a lot of crazy ass gungho stories but it revealed so much more.
I have felt like waking up from a horrible dream.. You can see and feel it like real but actual NOT.. The story was brutal, haunted, panic beyond.. I felt cautious all the time!
SOPHIA with everything that happened .. She had been living an uncertain life. To be broken, confused, scared and secluded has made her want to better herself and to find out about the truth.
CREED Sabella.. myterious man who hide behind his dark armor.. The Devil.. I love his resistance.. his sin to fall in love.. I adored Creed to my bone!
I read the book with cautious., this story wasnt easy to stomach. The version of Dark Romance which will turn your stomach and emotion like a roller coaster. The love between Sophia and Creed was unique and forbidden in a way. GAHH… I want to find out more!
You know that moment when you’re reading and you’re so into the book when you go to turn the page and there’s nothing there that you want to throw your kindle? Yep, that’s what happened to me!!! UGH!!! I need the next book like right now!! LOL
Sophia is thrown into a terrible nightmare except it’s her life. She goes through unimaginable things but she’s strong and is holding on. Her brother Garrett is what keeps her alive in her mind. They’ve been through so much already with the death of their parents that she can’t believe that this has happened to her.
This book has literally had me not adulting until I finished it. I was swept up into the story, the lies, the secrets, the growing feelings of Sophia towards a guy that was a like brick wall and she was taking it a part brick by brick until she got to know the man underneath it all. Will he be able to stop what is happening when truths are revealed??? I cannot wait for the next book! PLEASE let it be really, really soon!
OMG, this book. You all need it in your life. Like seriously I can’t get over how good it is.
WARNING: CONTAINS TRIGGERS!
This story starts off right in the middle of a horrible horrible scene. Sophia was kidnapped off the street and finds herself in a dark basement, tied to a chair. In this basement she suffers the worst types of abuse anyone can imagine. I cringed. I shut my eyes. I hurried through hoping it would end soon but at the same time loving all the suspense. Does that make me weird?
This is a very slow burn book full of angst, feels, drama, crime, suspense, action, pain, oh and a CLIFFHANGER!
I can’t really go into specifics with this read since it would contain too many spoilers but know that Creed is my type of man. Dark hair, grey eyes, serious, protective, etc. January 2019 cannot come soon enough so I can finish this series! Highly recommend to DARK ROMANCE LOVERS. Beware of all the violent abusive scenes and read at your own risk!
5 HEART POUNDING STARS!! HEART POUNDING, BARELY BREATHING AND SO MANY TEARS IN MY EYES!! This story is RAW, HARD and INTENSE, but so captivating from the first word to the last word. I could not put this book down. Sophia, oh Sophia what a beautiful strong woman she is and Creed he is perfection in a hard way, but Sophia needs him. Their story is passionate, forgiving, trusting and it needs to be heard, but remember it is a hard story to hear. I have read every book by this author and no one can tell a story like her, she is PHENOMENAL.
Wow, I don’t even know where to begin reviewing this book. Right from the very first page you are thrown head first into a dark and twisted story that will break you a little bit. The first part of the book is quite graphic and descriptive, certainly not for the faint of heart but necessary for the story to have the impact it deserves.
The characters are complex, the storyline will keep you guessing the whole way through and just when you think you’ve got it all figured out, you’ll be blown away again.
I don’t want to give away any parts of the story, so just read it. You won’t regret it (well, the wait for book 2 to release is going to feel like torture but it’s so worth it!)
4.5
Wow, what was that? I didn’t see this coming.
Deception and Chaos is book one in S.M. Soto’s new Chaos Series and it is indeed a twisted game of cat and mouse.
Sophia is an incredible woman. After all she had to go through she’s able and willing to live and love. She’s so strong and I love strong women in books. Creed is the big, bad criminal who can’t resist her, even if he tries.
The story is amazing. I enjoyed the slow burn and the chemistry between Sophia and Creed. There are a lot of twists and turns, the dark side of the story is so scary and made me feel so helpless, afraid, sad and angry for Sophia. The ending was unexpected (kindle-throwing) and I can’t wait for book two.
There are stories in life someone should tell. And this is one of those stories. Thank you for sharing
4.25 stars!!! The last 20% of this book, I’m pretty sure that I stopped breathing. What an ending!!!
Oh….and can I just take a moment to marvel over the beauty that is this book cover?! I honestly cannot take my eyes off of it. It’s so stunning! Now, having read the book…the cover speaks to me in a more meaningful way. It is so indicative of the ride this book takes you on. Do not be fooled by beauty, it is often superficial and a clever disguise used to deceive the shallow and weak minded. Instead, look beyond the surface, look inward, true beauty lies within. You may be just the person meant to discover it.

It’s taken me a couple of days to digest the shocking introduction into the Chaos world. I went into this book expecting angst, lies, and even a bit of fear of the unknown. What I ventured into, was so much more than any of those things and far exceeded any of my expectations. I was shocked by the sense of realism that I experienced as I read the very detailed, emotionally charged, raw and often upsetting account of the situation Sophia Cova found herself in.
The previous book that I had read by the author was one that I would describe as a rom-com, and I enjoyed her light-hearted approach, and witty sense of humor. So, imagine my surprise when I began this book and entered an alternate universe where Hailey Joel Osment took up residence on my shoulder whispering ” I see dead people!” WTF?!
The author has written twenty-four year old Sophia’s story with such passion, such courage, and such straightforwardness that it feels as if you are hearing a first hand account of the events that thrusts Sophia’s life into one of chaos, uncertainty and turmoil. There were several times that I had to take a moment and deep breathe my way through the pages. This is a dark romance read, and proved quite challenging for me in the beginning. This is no fault of the author, this story, or her wondrous writing skills; I simply did not know what this book was about when I jumped into it. I was unprepared for the degree of darkness contained within that ultimately brings Sophia to the place and the one man she feels fated for. It is a long road for a young woman who has already suffered great tragedy in her life. My heart ached for Sophia on so many levels. She is a courageous, feisty, young woman who possesses the heart of a fighter. I loved her tenacious spirit, her sense of humor, her thirst for life, her love of family, and the way she never backs down or gives up on what her heart tells her is right. She’s quite remarkable, and easy to love. I desperately want her to have a happily ever after.
When it appears as if Sophia has been saved from the depths of despair, and has escaped the clutches of monsters, we feel this sense of relief that the worst is behind her. She reunites with her brother Garrett who will surely keep her from any further harm. She is surrounded by Garrett and his fellow “team members” so she should be able to rest easy until they can get her to safety, but it soon becomes apparent that the trusted “team” is merely…
An illusion.
A mirage.
A deception.
One that is about to bring her face to face with all the lies she has been surrounded by since her perceived rescue. One that is about to have her questioning all she thought she knew. One that will have her asking herself who is her Savior and who is the Devil himself?
Can she trust her intuition when it has failed her in the past? Every fiber of her being calls out to Diavolo Creed Sabella, a man who is as dark and cold as they come. The total opposite of a “good man”. He is the living, breathing, walking, talking epitome of every male characteristic she has ever imagined. The man with the savage grey eyes seems determined to keep her safe, while insisting she stay away from him. He is rude, callous, cold, impossible to read, and yet he’d lay down his life for her protection. Why? He is a ghost; a soulless creature with no sense of right and wrong. Ironically, he may be her only hope of surviving the Chaos.
If you like dark romances full of suspense and jaw dropping moments….you must meet these characters! There’s always something sinfully delicious about a well-written anti-hero.

What a ride… a great debut from a new to me author. The build up, the mystery, and the chemistry will grab and hold you until the end. It will leave you begging, wanting and screaming for more! Definitely on the darker side, so if that’s your cup of tea, one click this fantastic read.
