He embarks on a plan to seduce her, but by the time her sweetness ensnares him, the truth threatens what could be the love of a lifetime.
Deception by Victoria Saccenti. This is a great story of love, heartbreak, loyalty, and revenge. Its the story of Joe an ex marine who is angry and sad about the suicide of a teammate. He completed suicide after a letter he received from home. Joe is determined to make the writer of the letter pay. One night when he’s in a bar with some friends he meets Hunter and finds out she is the author of the letter. He has a plan in his mind and now he has the opportunity to pull it off. Hunter is strong and intelligent but has had a lot of diversity in her life. When she meets Joe she is drawn to him and doesn’t really want to be. She can’t help herself. What will happen when Joe’s plan of deception is found out by Hunter. Will he get revenge for his fellow solider or will he lost Hunter forever? Does he care if he loses Hunter? Read Deception to find out and be prepared because once you start reading you won’t want to put it down.
This book starts out with the main character seeking revenge but it changes pace as it switches the narrative of the intention. The dynamics of the characters play well into the reader’s hand. This is steamy yet romantic as they get caught up in one another. Great read!

Deception by Victoria Saccenti
This is the first book I’ve read by the author, but it won’t be my last. Warning now if you don’t like BDSM then this won’t be a book for you.
Hunter is a girl who turns everyone away. She’s the type who doesn’t want to let a guy in. Known as a heartbreaker and homewrecker she likes life that way. Until Joe Reid enters her life. The quote I choose for Hunter is: “I thought I was losing my mind. See, he calls to me, and more bewildering is the sensation of healing I get from him.”
Joe, a former Marine, comes home for good. Losing a buddy of his started something that changes his life. Hunter wasn’t supposed to change his life but she did. For the better it seems. The quote I choose for Joe is: “Damn, girl. You flirt, you’ll find me and a hell of a lot more.”
This book was an amazing page turner and I will be keeping my eye out for more. Hunter and Joe are so realistic I thought it was a movie. I do highly recommend this for anyone who likes to think outside the box.

The book Deception by Victoria Saccenti is a story that I enjoyed reading. It is a book that pulled me in from the beginning and I found myself not wanting to put it down until the final page. It is a story that includes revenge and love. I loved reading about the characters of Joe and Hunter. Joe is a man who is set on revenge because of the suicide of a teammate. Hunter is his target. He starts down a carefully laid path. What would happen if in the process other emotions and feelings begin to form? Hunter is a woman who finds herself drawn to Joe. He is unlike those who have come before. What does the future hold for Joe and Hunter? Read this book to find out. This is a story that had me turning pages to find out what happens next. It is written in such a way the I felt like I was right there with the characters. I enjoyed reading about the bantering back and forth between Hunter and Joe. This book does have very steamy scenes that make the temperature in the room rise. I also enjoyed reading about Hunter’s best friend who is always there to help her. I liked that Hunter’s character is strong and intelligent. She has goals set for herself and is determined to achieve them. Don’t miss out on a story that is intriguing and entertaining. I highly recommend reading it.
Deception is the first book that I have read by this author. Joe Reid was injured in Afghanistan. After being sent home he ends up meeting the woman that he felt caused the death of said friend after that friend went on a suicide mission. Now Joe is after revenge for that friend. And he punishes Hunter for something she might have indirectly been responsible for.
Hunter has no idea what Joe has planned for revenge. But it won’t be good if he follows through.
I enjoyed reading my first book by this author and will look for more books by her. 4 Stars.
Deception drew me in right from the beginning. What starts out as an act of revenge changes midstream because feelings get caught up and Joe is unsure what to do. Hunter is a beautiful spirit which gives Joe pause. His friend committed suicide and he believed Hunter was the reason. When fate steps in Joe has a decision to make. Can he hurt Hunter and move on thus losing the best woman that ever came into his life or take his revenge for his friend?
Deception is my first novel by Victoria Saccenti and I truly felt like it was a surprise. But not in a bad way. The story follows Joe on his surprise path for revenge and Hunter on her journey to finding herself.
I wasnt sure whether the intention was to find Hunter a bit hard to like at first, but if it was the writing did just that! I began to like her more though as I got further into the story and we got to know her a little more.
Joe was a wild card though. Ex-marine, adjusting back to civilian life, he is a unique guy. When he sets his sights on Hunter who knows what will happen!
Can Hunter and Joe be truthful to themselves or is there just too much below the surface? Too much to get passed? You’ll have to read Deception to find out!
Deception by Victoria Saccenti is a great enemies to lovers story that will definitely pique your interest. I really enjoyed, right from the start, how you didn’t know much about what was going to happen from the description. It felt like the description was perfect to catch your attention but left the story to speak for itself.
I enjoyed the angle the author took with this story, it made it feel different to others books of this type that I have read. I was a little disappointed that it wasn’t as intriguing as I expected from the blurb however the story was overall very good. I was invested in the characters and couldn’t wait to see how things would turn out.
This is the first book that I have read by this author and I think she has a strong writing style. The book was well paced and I enjoyed how the characters were built up. This was a great story to read and I will definitely be interested in more work by this author.

Deception by Victoria Saccenti
Deception by Victoria Saccenti is my first read by this author. I pretty much got lost in the pages and stayed up half the night reading. I couldn’t put it down till I finished. This is about Joe and Hunter. Joe is a marine and is seeking revenge because of a teammate who committed suicide and Hunter is the target. She finds herself drawn to Joe. What does the future look like? Find out what happens next in tbis absolute must read. I look forward to reading more from this author
The author did a great job with the flow of the story as well as the character build-up, I was hesitant to read as I thought I’d get bored but boy was I wrong. This book had my turning the pages past bedtime 🙂 I was pleasantly surprised that I got into it as much as I did. I look forward to checking out some more books by this author I’ll keep you posted 😉
This was my first book by Victoria Saccenti. Her writing style is a simple layout. She connects all the t’s and dots the i’s. Her plotline moves quickly. She keeps the action going. I did not lose interest in this story. There were twists and turns that kept my interest moving right along with the characters of the book. Her characters are fully developed and intriguing. The characters grow with the plotline. The main character is a Marine. That alone piqued my interest because Marines do everything all the way because failure is not an option.I highly recommend this story to see what the Marine does not to fail.
Deception is a unique and perceptive read. Victoria Saccenti is a wonderful and terrific author. This novel spins being a dom and sub into a different world. This novel is for anyone who likes to read bdsm novels. Turning love into hate and hate into love is the main story plot. This novel will leave you wanting to read over and over again.
Deception by Victoria Saccenti is a sexy military romance story where revenge is the name of the game. The story is a little different from your norm and I liked that. Joe is a Dominant he has Hunter in his sights and with his sexy good looks he knows just how to reel them in. I enjoyed the story premise and Victoria’s writing style. There were a couple of the characters I could have done without but overall, I liked the MC’s. Truths are revealed but trusts are broken and may never heal. It is an emotionally charged story as past horrors are brought to the present.

This is a titillating romance. The story is sexy from beginning to end. Joe is a Dominant hell bent on revenge. He has Hunter in his sights and he never misses his mark. Hunter is broken and accepts the miserable life she leads, believing that she deserves it. She never thought that she could heal until she met Joe. He I trod yes her to the world of Don/Sub and she finds a peace that she never knew existed. Karma turns on Joe and he finds himself ensnared in her innocence. The truth will always come out, no matter what. Can these two find a way through the disaster? You need to read and find out.
The scenes between these two are incredibly hot! The story will keep you interested until the end. I loved the depth of the two main characters. This is my first book from this author and it definitely won’t be the last.
Oh wow this book is amazing. Saccenti writing flows extremely well from start to finish and is detailed throughout. There is an amazing character development. I adore the chemistry within this book between Joe and Hunter. I really enjoyed the BDSM ascpet as it was excitedly well.
This was a new author to me, but when I read the synopsis, I knew that I needed to read this book. I am so glad that I found her and her books.
A Submissive, a Dominant and BDSM this was right in my wheelhouse. Throw in a sexy military man and I couldn’t get this book open fast enough.
Joe is seeking out revenge. He is looking for the person that sent his friend and teammate a letter….
Hunter is his target, she finds herself drawn to Joe. The story will pull you in and you won’t be able to put this book down until the very end….
I am looking forward to reading more from Ms. Saccenti.
This story follows Joe, a Marine stationed in Afghanistan. Joe’s friend and fellow soldier commits suicide over a note from Hunter. This is where Joe decides to seek revenge on Hunter by making her fall in love with him and him leaving. Joe planned to use his dom-sub lifestyle to accomplish this. But that plan backfires as Joe gets to know Hunter and ends up falling in love himself with her. When someone is hiding secrets, things never quite work out the way they planned. Overall great characters and great story!

“Meanwhile, lean muscled and tall, Joe walked with the elegance of a feline roaming its hunting grounds, a stride the military had drilled and honed. Once, he’d been a leader of men and had expected their obedience. Although he downplayed this aspect of his personality, the angle of his head and the tilt of his shoulders gave him away. While his casual clothes gave a relaxed appearance—his brand-new, perfectly fitting jeans, black pullover, and polished boots spoke of a man who paid attention to detail—even the two-day stubble worked for him. Joe wasn’t done with life yet. He was still hungry.”
“She placed her hand within his large warm fingers, and a new storm of contradicting emotions took her. Excitement, desire, and fear battered her from every direction, and at the center of the vortex, a certainty of peace and safety soothed her. For the briefest of moments, her mangled soul lost its scars. The rough ridges smoothed out. She felt protected and guarded. She wanted to weep and laugh.”
Deception is my first read by Victoria Saccenti. Never having read any of her work before, I really didn’t know what to expect going into this book. I discovered that the author has a very descriptive and ‘visual’ style to her writing- with an attention to detail that really brought his story to life. I loved that part of the book. I really liked the premise, offering something a little different from other books in the same genre.
I was really into this story- until the dialogue and interactions between characters. Something about it really put me off a bit. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but it seemed a little forced and/or somewhat disingenuous. There were cheesy moments, and some of the ‘sex-scenes’ were a little awkwardly worded. This did seem to improve as the story progressed and I did enjoy the second half more than the first.
This book should have ticked all the boxes for me- but fell a little short. Maybe it was just me, as I have read a few of the other reviews for it and they all seem to have no problems with it- so I think I will revisit this book again in the future and see if I still feel the same way or whether I was just having an off reading day.
This book is a game of seduction, with revenge being the end game. But what happens when this spider web of intrigue and deception begins to unravel? What happens when feelings become involved? And what happens when the truth is revealed? You really need to read the story if you want to find out.
I really wanted to love this book so much more than I did. But I just couldn’t connect with it the way I’d hoped. Maybe next time.
Thank you, Victoria Saccenti!
To say this story starts off with a bang might be a bit too literal. But the author sets the tone from page one and establishes strongly a historical context for our main character and the trappings of his present day life. I was immediately captivated by Joe’s character and anticipated quite a story to unravel beneath his many layers. I wasn’t wrong or disappointed. This book kept me guessing in all the right ways. If you like romantic suspense, with drama and emotion, this book definitely is worthy of picking up immediately.
Deception by Victoria Saccenti was an interesting new find for me as I had not read anything by this writer before. I love military and revenge stories so after reading the synopsis I decided to give it a go.
Hunter and Joe are the leads in this story though there are quite a few important supporting characters as well. Joe is an ex-marine who is determined to take out revenge on Hunter who he thinks is to blame for Joe’s teammate having committed a combat suicide. The reality is actually much different and the writer takes us deep into the Dominant-Submission lifestyle with a great backstory and plot. Be prepared for sex and submission and secrets and … I have to admit that the end seemed a bit forced and you might also feel like as if we are missing something but overall it was an intriguing read that does not leave anyone cold!
