Meeting both Addison and Oliver for the first time was quite an intriguing event.
Oliver comes across as a devil may care kind of chap. A smooth talking, easy to like and even easier to fall for gentlemen, I do not use the word “gentlemen” very often in real life, often because real gentlemen don’t exist in my world. Oliver, however, is a true red-blooded male with all the benefits of life thrown his way but still able to be humble and honest…well…that is until events spin in such a way that he has no choice other than to be dishonest, or so he thinks.
Headstrong and determined, Addison doesn’t understand the meaning of surrender let alone quitting. At the pinnacle of her career, she knows how to crack heads and take names. One wrong move though has her jetting off to England, where of course she meets our enigmatic man of the hour. What starts off as a fun night ends up with high stakes and going all in, for both Addison and Oliver.
Describing Oliver I could use a million words; suffice to say he had my heartbeat tapping out a full rendition of Lord of the Dance. Debonair and self-assured he has found himself a place in my heart. His life had been easy up until a heavyweight and black clouds were dropped on him.
Deceit isn’t a whirlwind romance, the story runs over several months of time and this gives the reader a chance to see how the characters move through life.
This author has been an auto-click author for quite a while now and I can’t say she has ever disappointed me. She’s one of those authors who can take any idea and spin it into pure gold. Her books are always going to be emotionally charged and hard to put down.
Addison and Oliver go through emotionally destructive times and both lash out, just like the old saying goes: We always hurt those we love.
Thank you, Ms. Harrison, for once again giving me a reason to hide from the real world, laugh out loud and cry my heart out all in the space of just one book.
Deceit’s plot line is exactly as the title suggest, a story about a relationship based on lies, the deceit of one character to another, all signs pointing at disaster. Only in this novel you want the deceit to be forgiven, Ava Harrison sees to that with compelling characters and the royal bloodline us readers are flocking to right now. It’s the sort of novel that even deceives the reader, leaving you wondering if this romance has the ability to last or if it’ll burn in flames. There’s twists and turns and scenes that almost made me riot, and yet Ava Harrison had me hanging on to this fascinating story with everything in me.
“To live is the rarest thing in the world. Most people exist, that is all.”
Addison, Addy, doesn’t want to hold the fake smile on her face while she watches her ex say I do to the new woman of his dreams, even if it was her doing. Instead she chooses to use work as an excuse, setting off for the English countryside to view a plot of land with a confusing bit of history. Small countryside towns don’t have a lot to offer though, with just a single bar and one handsome man willing to go scotch for scotch. Oliver, Olly, is back at his estate to help his mother, but he can’t deny himself the fun of spending time with the gorgeous Addy. He only wants to help her live a little, no mess, no relationship, and so he keeps his true identity to himself. Like all no-strings attached relationships, what starts as a bit of fun and a lot of lust turns into something more. As they take off an adventures and explore their emotions Olly and Addy find that maybe living is the key to happiness, at least until the lies are uncovered and the deceit is revealed.
“The door slams. It closes on the lie. It closes on the deception. It closes on the deceit. It closes on us.”
Deceit is angsty and romantic, an instant win for me. Plus I loved Oliver just as much as Addy does, even if he is the biggest womanizer in the royal family and has no idea how to apologize and win a woman back properly. I loved the journey I was taken on in Deceit. I’m not typically big on relationships built on lies and I admit I struggled a bit with Olly’s natural inclination towards sex over words, but I found myself swayed to love the journey by the character growth, the lessons in the words, and the off-the-charts chemistry shared by the hero and heroine. Both Olly and Addy make some poor choices through out the novel, but it made Deceit feel more realistic and it made their relationship develop in a way that many romance novels gloss over. Ava Harrison is still a fairly new to me author, but she’s slowly becoming a solid must-read for me, especially with this new release.
ARC provided.
Deceit by Ava Harrison is a lovely tale about love, lust and betrayal. The story line was unique in the sense of the twists that it took and the underlying story that is not revealed until the very end. With strong influential characters Deceit was entertaining and kept me wondering what the big secret was. There were some details in the book that were repetitious to the point I began to skim over paragraphs instead of reading them fully. There are only so many times that a character needs to point out that “they are British” or that the female character is independent and doesn’t need anyone in her life. That being said I still enjoyed the story and recommend it with 4 stars.
When Addison Price’s ex is getting married to his supermodel fiancée, she does the only thing a girl can do, she runs. Finding refuge in England under the guise of working Addison meets a charming man that wants to show her “how to live” and not merely exist. Oliver Blackthorn also titled Lord Lockhart has been tasked by his mother to find out what is being done with the last of their lost property. After years of trying to obtain the property back with no luck, Oliver is willing to do whatever it takes to get the parcel of land back in his family’s name. Never intending on falling for Addison he begins his information search with a lie that snowballs. When Addison finds out that Oliver is Lord Lockhart will she ever be able to forgive him for his Deceit?
DECEIT by Ava Harrison is the angsty , emotional rollercoaster story of Addison Pierce and Oliver Blackthorn the 16th Earl of Lockhart.
Addison is a woman who is conflicted and she runs, trying to find the answers anywhere but where she lives. It’s on her journey to the English countryside where she meets her biggest sin- and also salvation- Oliver Blackthorn. He is sin personified and his English accent seduces. Addison and Oliver find themselves seduced by one another. The chemistry between them is intense. Addison is very stubborn- it’s a plus but also a negative against her. She can be so stubborn to the inth degree. Their journey towards their HEA is emotional and angsty and full of feels. Definitely keep the tissues handy. Without giving anything away, Oliver is so swoon-worthy, Addison is amazing, their love story is full of beautiful romance and author Ava Harrison left me with a book hangover. She truly has a way with words. I look forward to her next book.
My Rating: 4.5 stars *******
Oliver and Addy story begins when Addy`s ex is getting married, she wants to get away, then she meets Oliver, a very cocky 33rd in line to the throne sexy guy and sparks fly. I love Ava Harrison, she twists each story in a very unpredictable unique way, the story plot is amazing, angst with romance and mystery just in the perfect combination. A 5 star must read!
This book is absolutely amazing ic could not put it down highly recommend it
Where do I start and what can I say that hasn’t already been said about this amazing book called Deceit….Are my words good enough to do this read justice I hope so because I loved this book so big.
Ava Harrison’s words captivated me I was drawn into this story from the first page and there was no putting down until the last word had been read, it was a journey I was so pleased to be on.
Oliver Blackthorn the 16th Earl of Lockhart is the type of man we all love, he is sweet yet sexy and he is an alpha male who will do anything for the people he cares about but the secrets and lies he hides may just blow any chance of happiness out the window. Addison has escaped to the countryside in hope of missing all the news about her Ex getting married, she is strong yet vulnerable and Ollie is just what she needs as a distraction but family history could make these lovers enemies…….
This story blew me away, it has everything you want in a great read, a swoon worthy hero who hides his secrets well, strong independent heroine who is just a tad vulnerable, sizzling chemistry and a plot with a fair few twists and turns. There is the perfect mix of passion and angst and Deceit ticked all my boxes and I’m sure it will tick yours as well so I’m going to leave you with THIS IS A MUST READ for all romance lovers. Looking forward to what comes next from this very talented author.
Their family’s history made them enemies, their chemistry made them lovers, but it’s the Deceit that will blow up everything they built.
I thought the writing was excellent, the story fantastic and the characters realistic. We are all flawed, we all make mistakes and somehow we hope to learn from them, but trust is a hard thing to get back.
I was disappointed that Oliver was using Addison to get what he wanted. Although he thought he had a good reason, a lie is a lie. After everything blew up, I was hoping he could find a way to redeem himself and make it up to her and find their way back to each other.
Addison on the other hand had every reason to be mad and distrustful but she didn’t have the whole story. I so wanted her to finally find true love.
Wow…just wow! Olly is one swoon alpha-male who will melt your panties right off! Totally still swooning. Addy is the perfect heroine. I loved how independently strong she was when it came to her work but in heart she was beautifully broken.
These two characters together are dynamite! This book had me from start to finish! Ms. Harrison does NOT disappoint….she gives you all the feels with her amazing writing! Hoping that Gray, Jax, and Jasmine get their story. Oh and let’s not forget Nathaniel. I will be anxiously waiting for the next book.
I have been in a bit of reading rut. It’s very hard to focus on a story and Oliver and Addison broke that for me. I met Addison in a previous Ava Harrison book and I recall that I was a fan, so I couldn’t wait to see how Ms. Harrison would change my opinion of her.
Once again, Ms. Harrison writes a heartfelt story with so much raw emotion. I felt both Addison and Oliver’s head over heals in love and then again the sting of betrayal. I wanted to dislike Oliver for his deceit, but my heart wouldn’t let me. There was something in this man that had me so head over heals with him that I knew that he would prove himself.
Ms. Harrison has become one of my go to authors for a juicy story. She gives me a story that will bring all of my emotions to the surface and when I close that book I feel as though I have lived through those characters and all of their emotions. Another great read!

Our relationship is a house of cards these days – built on lies and sure to fall to the ground soon.
Addison Price is the CEO of her company working with her brothers Grayson and Jaxson. She has more than proven her worth in a predominantly man’s world. But, when it comes down to the choice of watching her ex get married or go check out a remote piece of land she owns, she ops to head to Wiltshire England. Oliver Blackthorn aka Lord Lockhart aka Oliver Black wants nothing to do with his title or the responsibilities that come with it. Hiding out in London away from his mother has worked well for him until his mother urgently begs for his help getting back a piece of land that once belonged to the family.
Addison is a hot mess when she first meets Oliver and although they have no clue who each other are they have a natural attraction and chemistry together that made me love them right away. As they spend more and more time together their attraction grows but, so do the lies that Oliver is keeping. Addison having already been nursing a broken heart finally starts to let herself live again and enjoy the moment and is so grateful to Oliver for helping her achieve that. The more she lets Oliver in the happier she becomes only to have it all come crumbling down with the secrets Oliver has been keeping. Oliver having only set out to get his families land back never planned on falling for Addison but sometimes plans don’t always work out the way you want them to.
This was my first book by Ava Harrison and I really loved Addison and Oliver as a couple and really wanted them to work out and things certainly got a bit stressful for a while there. The secrets had me hooked from early on wanting to know what it could possibly be, and I never would have guessed them, and they were worth the wait. Oliver worked so hard to prove to Addison that he was worth another shot and so many times I thought that it was going to finally happen only to see how very hurt she was instead. I did find the pace of the book a little slow and I think it would have been a little more enjoyable if it was a bit shorter but I did really enjoy the book and will certainly be adding Ava Harrison to my TBR list!
My heart broke for Addison, she basically traded one heartbreak for another. Geez give this girl a break.
With her ex getting married she escapes to another country and throws herself into her work. Foolish girl you can’t run, that’s when the unexpected stumbles your way. A drunken night leads right to Oliver.
Oliver is one of those characters that you absolutely fall in love with but that doesn’t mean you like him. He’s a liar. Even though he has a good reason he’s still a liar. But I love him.
This is a great read about a girl with a huge heart and her ability to forgive the fool she loves. I highly recommend this.

Stopping to taste the blueberry scones
—->>> Addison Price, the CEO of Price Enterprise wants and deserves more than she has. After all, every girl deserves a prince in her life, right? In her case, though, it is actually an Earl, Oliver Lockhart. Running away from the startling reality of her ex-fiancé’s wedding, she drowns her heartache as far away as she can…and right into the arms of a beguiling British pub patron across the pond. But Addy was not aware who this man was during their crazy evening which stretched into a three-week romance, until the jig is up, and she has to decide if the purposes of his deceit warranted his actions.
Great story with wonderfully developed characters, and two people who really “see” each other but have loyalties to honor first.
Lies. You lie once and you have to keep it up unless you come clean. Deceit. Now that is something more complex. Not only do you lie, but you have to establish trust and other emotions in order to get what you want.
Oliver was only trying to help his mother. They had money, power, a title. Yet his mother was never at ease about the piece of land his father had lost gambling. No matter how much money they offered the new owner, the land was never for sale. His mother’s obsession was beyond explanation and he could do is to try and find out what the owner was about to do with that piece of land.
Addison was running away from a failed relationship. Meeting Oliver was like a new beginning. He was easy to talk to, fun to be with, and sexy to no end. Little did she know she was falling for a man who was cloaked in deceit.
Entertaining and intense, this love affair is the stuff we are thrilled by.
I am voluntarily reviewing this book. Thanks to the author for sharing a copy with me.
Everyone needs an Oliver in their life. Loyal, kind, full of life, and loving, this man will have your heart in his hands in no time.
Oliver and Addison have amazing chemistry. I love how Oliver gets Addison to loosen up and live and feel. It’s beautiful and freeing. But Oliver has a secret. Could this secret destroy the beautiful bond they’ve developed, and the one person Oliver has ever felt he can be himself with? The journey is a bumpy one filled with lies and heartache, but also hope.
I always enjoy Ava’s writing. In this story, I loved the message she is trying to relay. Live life, enjoy life. Feel. Be happy.
First I’m in love with the blurb, then I read the first chapter and I’m more in love, then I met those amazing characters and believe it or not I’m more in love again, and since then there’s nothing can stop me until I reach “The End”. Yup this book is that GOOD.
This one is an enemies to lovers romance packed with drama and emotions and a bit of Rome Juliet’s vibes.
My first book from Ava Harrison and I’m a big fan already, definitely going to read her other books ASAP.
Well what’s not to love?!?!?! Amazing characters (although they’re frustrating most of the time but I still can’t not root for their happy ending) and amazing stories with twists, so if you love romance read, what are you waiting for, go grab this bookbook now.

5 Star Review Deceit by Ava Harrison
I have no idea where to start with this review. Deceit is an extremely well written story that blew me away. It was a wonderful book to read and Ava Harrison had me riveted from the first to the last chapter as she wove her story.
Addison is fleeing from the news that her ex is getting married and she escapes to the countryside where she meets Olly. Oh what a man Oliver Blackthorn, the 16th Earl of Lockhart and 33rd in line to the throne is.
The chemistry and intensity that smoulders between them was scorchingly hot. The love, the lies, the suspense and the humour all worked together to bring you a story that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
I thought I would find it hard to like Olly, but really there was just something about him that intrigued me from the start and I fell for him hook, line and sinker. It was great to watch Addison grow throughout the story and she became so much stronger than even she thought she could be.
Olly is a man of secrets, a man who falls in love and yet lies to her. Can their relationship survive when it is based on lies?
Although it was a long and rocky path to happiness, I am certainly glad that Olly and Addison finally got there is the end.
Deceit is another great book by this author and one that is sure to leave you wanting more.
I absolutely loved the development of Addison and Oliver’s relationship and I wanted to shake some sense into Addison towards the end. Oliver started out with nefarious intentions but had his reasons, unfortunately I understood her hesitation in wanting to talk things out but dang woman, throw the man a bone!! Everyone has secrets but the lies are what ultimately got them into a situation…and we all know how a relationship built on lies turns out…
Their story was easy and I loved seeing them together. Their line of thoughts was to live and really loved watching them do that. This book had me feeling all sorts of ways throughout this book and it is definitely a book I will be recommending to others!
We get one hot British aristocrat and a take charge CEO in this story of love and redemption. Olly and Addy get together under deceitful circumstances, but try to redeem themselves more than once.
I seriously wanted to have a sit down talking-to with Addy. There are so many ways that I found her to be a hypocrite. I definitely won’t go into detail, but she was exasperating at times.
These two were hot in every way that counts. The angst and build up to their pintacal point was worth it and things only got hotter from therr. An aristocrat meets his match in this story of love, regret, and redemption.
