Duty outweighs fear as Logan Falcone, a retired Marine, is secretly asked to hunt down a terror cell in the U.S. However, what he finds is much more terrifying than anything he’s fought through before.
This fast-paced thriller will pull you into the story with vivid descriptions allowing you to experience the emotions of war and terror first hand. Each heart-stopping moment allows a glimpse see … glimpse see inside the mind of a terrorist, Amir, as he descends from Army hero to traitor, revealing how we’re all guided by emotions.
Logan Falcone had finally stopped reliving the events in Iraq when a phone call from Samantha forced him to leave his detached reality. A terrorist attack in Paris hinted at American involvement and she feared a cover-up. A second attack, this time in Chicago, starts to open a deceitful door into a terrorist cell. Logan uses his old connections, a group of recon marines, and as much assistance as Samantha can give without compromising her job with the FBI. Leads fall through their fingers and it appears there’s a leak in the government. In the end, it comes down to Logan’s intuitive training and ability to read people. Will Logan be able to tap into who he used to be? Or will his fears of another loss dictate his actions, causing even more attacks and American deaths?

This book started out quickly and you immediately get into the action. I had a hard time with some of the initials used, but could just ask my husband (ex army) laying next to me what they meant. There are times the book seemed to be a little drawn out or it was hard to know that you were flashing back, but overall it was a really good book. It keeps you on your toes guessing who all is involved in these terror attacks and how they are going to stop them
From start to finish this book keeps you on the edge of your seat. Realistic characters and plot; very believable scenario. Highly recommend!Looking forward to the next book in this series.
Excellent book of government conspiracy.
Good read, cheer for ‘our side’. Could have used a ‘stronger’ ending, but I think the current ending leaves room for a continuation to another book!
Enjoyable read, though the editing is a bit weak with missing words, wrong words, misspellings, etc.
Quality of the writing was great. I enjoyed it very much til the end
Wanders too much. Story-telling and the plot need to be tightened up.
Not a good book. The interaction between characters was forced and the story line unbelievable.
Exciting stuff and great characters! Thanks for the first one in this series, I will have to go to Barnes and Noble pick up the rest.
There is a bond between Special Forces members, but it is NOT a sappy love fest. There is no calling their commanding officer by his first name. No Colonel is going to authorize a flight from North Carolina to Chicago so trainees and their commanding officer can go on a date with women from Chicago.
The book starts slow and maintains that pace. It is supposed to be a military/special ops story, but reads like a chick-lit romance.
Very fast paced action in this book. It was a book I did not want to see end. If this book is representative of the style of this author then you have another fan.
So so. A little redundant.
I very much enjoyed my first read of work by this author.
Did not finish! Couldn’t get into the book!
Fast-paced, characters were believable, and the storyline was contemporary.
Couldn’t put it down. Read it in 3 days. Now reading the sequel.
Kind of a paranoid view of terror inspired violence inside the borders of the US. I had trouble buying the motivation for the bad-asses who contrived nefarious plots. Once I got over my skepticism, I appreciated that there are young men and women willing to risk their lives to defend the nation. It’s never as black and white as this genre of action adventure novel paints it.
It was hard to pick between haunting and scary because it is both, in spades. This book will make you think and remember, wow!!!
Very enjoyable read. Didn’t want it to end!
Interesting and action packed story which became a real page turner
