I don’t know what I was thinking when I hired someone to attack me. Maybe I was bored, or lonely, or there was a void so deep inside of me that I needed something explosive to fill it.
It was supposed to be safe. A thrill. A way to break through the monotony of everyday life. It was an illusion of danger that I could walk away from as soon as it was over.
Except that it wasn’t. Because I had been … over.
Except that it wasn’t. Because I had been in danger long before I ever invited it into my life.

My mission is almost complete. The bubbling boil of vengeance that heats my blood might finally simmer.
She is the last piece of the puzzle. Once I destroy her, everyone who ever hurt me will have paid their debt.
It was supposed to be quick and easy, but as soon as I met her it got complicated.
Very complicated.

This book was fucking insane. Like this is the craziest book I think I’ve ever read. And I mean that in all the best ways. Seriously, read it.
I am someone who is always on the lookout for something different!
This book was one of the most intense romantic books I’ve ever read.
This book tells the story of Tax Draconi, who is out to get revenge on Mia Tibbett. He is there to collect a DEBT.
Mia, on her friend’s suggestion, signs up for a secret website wherein you can hire someone to come and ‘pretend rape’ you, as a sexual fantasy. But things went south very soon when the guy who came is not the one she was expecting.
Enter Tax Draconi. He is ruthless. He is brutal. He is merciless. He is absolutely hard to ignore and completely impossible to ignore. Once he meets Mia, he slowly starts to lose sight of his revenge.
The romance is so perfectly written. The chemistry. The emotions. The angst. I loved every single bit of it.
I went in blind and I suggest you do the same!
Nina’s writing, in one word, is FLAWLESS. She kept the pace of the book very interesting. There was a good suspense aspect along with a very catchy plot. And man! Those sex scenes were absolutely fire!
I just couldn’t put this book down. It will keep you engaged till the very end. I devoured it & savoured it completely. I have re-read it countless times. I’ll surely be checking out more books by this author.
Can I say that this is one of the best dark romance books I’ve ever read? Like it was so breathtaking that the feelings won’t stop lingering in my mind n heart. Gosh, I didn’t expect this book to be extremely good. At first, it was pretty weird when Mia wanted to hire someone to “rape” her (ngl, I was pretty disgusted about it) but then as the story progresses, it suddenly become more suspenseful and interesting especially the part when all the secrets were finally revealed. Man, this book was indeed a total page turner that you can’t even stop from reading it till the end because you will always wanted to know what’s going to happen in the next chapter.
.
Now, let’s talk about the characters. My sweet Mia and my man Tax have a very strong chemistry which made me loved them so much. Yeah Tax tried to kill Mia out of revenge and yet he always delayed his mission because of her. Even so, it was pretty heart-wrenching when we get know more about their relationship and their past. Like there were a few times where I teared up for them because their story really brought me to an extreme emotional roller coaster ride.
.
Finally the ending. Gosh, the ending is perfect. EXTREMELY perfect that I loved it. It’s not really a typical ending that we usually read but it was so beautiful yet heart-wrenching. Like, I even hold my breathe when I read it because it was so
I think this book may have been better than 3 stars but for some reason, I just can’t hit 4. There were parts at both the beginning and end that I was really uncomfortable with, and I didn’t love the epilogue.
This was an audiobook for me, and while the guy narrator was a great reader, the way that Tax’s part was read at the beginning made him sound very disturbing and creepy. It may have made sense to the story but it intensified the discomfort mentioned above. All that being said, I do recommend the book if you like dark reads.
I couldn’t put this book down. It was recommended by a book blogger and I’m so glad I listened to her.
