From #1 New York Times Bestselling Author Rachel Van Dyken comes the new book in the Elite Bratva Brotherhood series…With blood on my hands, I held her. With death in my soul, I took from her. With the devil in my heart, I coveted her. There are many definitions of Hell.My list was exhaustive, my definitions tragic.Tonight I was adding something new to the very top.Girl number six thirty-two.She … top.
Girl number six thirty-two.
She arrived on my birthday, the same day, every year, I play Russian Roulette and pull the trigger.
She was my omen.
My end game.
She made it personal.
And for the first time in my life, I gave in.
A virgin mob boss with no soul.
My name is Andrei Petrov.
They call me the devil.
All I want is for the pain to end.
All she wants is for me to share it.
I am the last remaining heir to a dynasty that should burn in Hell.
And my last wish remains for it to die with me.
All books in the Eagle Elite Series/Elite Bratva Brotherhood are Standalones about different couples. This book is technically book one in a brand new Russian/Italian mafia series that takes place in the Eagle Elite world… this is Andrei Petrov’s story. If you’re an Eagle Elite fan, this is the continuation of the series with a brand new spinoff into the Russian world, so no worries all your fave guys are still there, we’re just expanding the family a bit!

When I started this one, I had read some books (not all yet) in the “Eagle Elite” series, and so I was very curious about this new spin-off. It was said that this story was a complete stand alone, but I have got to be honest here and say that I was a bit confused when I started this one, as to who everyone was and what their “place” in the story was.
So I went back to the Eagle Elite series and did some more (re)reading…it did help. I still have some I need to read, but I have a bit of an idea which person is behind most the names now. I do think this story could be read as a stand-alone. but you won’t have all the knowledge about everyone. So my advice would be to actually read some of the “Eagle Elite” books. It makes it that much more enjoyable. At least, that’s how I felt.
Now for those who haven’t read the previous series and don’t feel like reading it first…no worries. The author does not leave us completely in the dark. At the beginning of the book, there is a list of names (a bit of a family tree) which shows us exactly who is who. So there you go 😉
I am a big fan of Mafia-type books. I think that’s because I really love me a big bad anti-hero and that is what most of them “Made Men” are
The previous series was all about the Italian Mafia, but this one…this one also brings us the Russian one… the Bratva.
Blood in. No out
Compared to the first Mafia book I read by this author…this one is way darker. The series really evolved. What I loved most about it though, was that it wasn’t all darkness. There were also some nice laughs here and there and for me, that’s what really broke the tension.
Andrei is definitely the sort of (anti) hero that I love. Constantly battling his demons and fighting his way to freedom. Torture is his specialty.
Alice, captive 632, is part of the “De Lange” family, though I am sure she wished she wasn’t. Her past is pretty horrifying. Even though she has no reason whatsoever to trust anyone, especially not a man…she sees something “more” in Andrei. There is an instant sort of connection between the two.
This book kept me at the edge of my seat from the very start, and I really enjoyed reading it. I can’t wait to see what’s next, but first I am gonna finish every book I skipped in the “Eagle Elite” series.
I need to mark 10 stars
Rachel Van Dyken has done it again – and has made Eagle Elite to being better and stronger. This world is a world that seems forbidden and dark, but it sucks you in and hangs you out to dry – very – very – slowly!!!
I always say Rachel Van Dyken’s most recent book is my favorite. Well, I’m saying it again. I loved, loved, loved this book so hard!!! Eagle Elite series has to be one of my top 5 series I reread and am absolutely obsessed with. She creates a world of blood, violence, and ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS AND ENTERTAINING men. I think this is the most I’ve laughed in a long time. The banter between these men is off the charts. They are strong, family like group that will do anything to help the others, even if they know it will be tough. They always have each other’s backs. While you have a family atmosphere, they also make tough decisions and make you stand up for what you have to do. The author takes violence and incorporates it in an acceptable, pleasurable way (you never dreamed you would ever feel this way!!).
Alice and Andrei are off the charts with chemistry, sexiness, forbidden aspects, and all around one amazing story you won’t be able to put down!! Their story is tough and you will be holding breathe at some parts of the story. Their mystery will really put you through the ringer but you will be better for it. The way they interact and the situations that arise will make you begging more from these
Read this. It is amazing. End of story.
This book is 5 “Blood In, No Out” Stars
If you’ve read the previous Eagle Elite books, trust me, you will definitely want to read this one. If this is your fist Eagle Elite, that’s okay too. This book actually is the start of a new series, it’s a spinoff. So you are fine with starting with Debase, but after reading this one, you will want to go back to the beginning, I promise.
Andrei Petrov is head of the Petrov line. He is Russian mafia. He’s playing both sides. Working with the Italians to take down his father’s empire and cleansing the De Langes.
Alice is a De Lange. Not by choice. She was born into the wrong family.
Both characters are messed up because of their families. Neither truly know what families are.
I won’t go into detail about what happened to them. You’ll just have to read this to find out. You won’t be disappointed. At. All. Trust me, I couldn’t put this down.
The way Rachel writes will suck you into this world and make you think you are right there with the characters that you love.
Chase has always been my favorite. Andrei is now right there with him.
There are some surprise twists thanks to Phoenix and his black folders! I kind of wish there would be a book just about what’s in each and every folder.
I can’t wait for more!
Blood in, No out! Trust me, I don’t want out!
I usually never comment on the covers, but how HOT is this one?
I’ve been eagerly anticipating this book! It’s safe to say I’m well and truly hooked on the Eagle Elite world. This ones a little different as it’s about a Russian mafia man not an Italian one. Andrei has had parts in a lot of the previous books, now Debase is his story.
I was not expecting Andrei to be as complex as he is, the guy has serious issues, and what a past! Previously I didn’t really care for him, but this book has revealed so much that now I love him like the others! Alice surprised me, her character seems a little meek and scared at first but then she shows us she’s a little bit of a spitfire. I loved these two characters together, and let’s not forget the rest of the Elite and their wives! I absolutely love when the Elite do group texts it has me giggling like a school girl!
Debase is emotional and it’s dark and it’s also funny, it’s another page turner. Really now, after so many books in the Elite world, I wouldn’t expect anything less than spectacular and Debase certainly is that!
Five -could not put it down, superb, brilliant, amazing, must read stars!
Debase is such a damn good book that I don’t even know how to express my admiration… Rachel Van Dyken has created the perfect mix between a dark mafia world, brightness of love and a touch of humor. Everything is so smoothly connected that despite its lighter features, this book doesn’t lose its intensity. And believe me – the relationship between Andrei and Alice is very fiery!
Andrei Petrov is a complicated character. Don’t get me wrong – he’s a ruthless and cruel man, but the demons that are haunting him make us see a human in the monster that the others see. Alice de Lange despite her innocence is an incredibly strong and brave woman. They both come from stigmatized families and they shouldn’t fall in love with each other. What will their love turn out to be? Damnation or salvation? One thing is certain – there’s a sacrifice waiting for them.
It’s amazing how Rachel Van Dyken is able to convey every single emotion in her words. During the reading I felt Andrei’s fury, Alice’s suffering, their hopes and the indescribable intensity of their love. The interactions between families have been once amusing and stressing the other time. Although it’s hard to say goodbye to Eagle Elite, I’m ready for Bratva Brotherhood. And with this story RVD showed that I will not be disappointed 😉
Highly recommend!
Debase has left me feeling raw and so incredibly heartsore. Despite the fact it was a HEA, this book just about destroyed me. It was too much emotion for me to handle. I cried so much that my heart physically hurt. I have not read all of the Eagle Elite books so I was not fully prepared for what I would endure reading this book. It was bloody and and beautiful.
Andrei Petrov is the heir to the Petrov family. With the passing off his father, he is now in control of all his fathers illegal dealings which are very sordid. Andrei is a monster. He is unfeeling. Nothing fazes him until Alice De Lange is brought to him. The De Lange family is a dying family. Members are being killed off one by one so becoming attached to Alice is not feasible or advisable. Alice should hate Andrei. She has left one prison for another. A monster who relishes in his destruction and wants no distractions. No one knows who Alice is and it is safer for her and him if it stays that way.
Gosh, how I loved Andrei. He is was dark and broody but still had a sense of humor. My heart broke for all the pain and trauma Alice and Andrei went through. Love wasn’t in the cards for them but their broken souls called to each other. I loved Andrei desperation for Alice and his over protectiveness. It was hot! The last few chapters in this book gutted me. I hated most of the characters in this book at that point and I find it very hard to forgive them. Alice was so strong and fearless and I am in awe of her.
Rachel Van Dyken should be applauded for creating yet another hauntingly beautiful book that I will never forget.
I don’t know what to say…. I mean, how do I put my thoughts on this book into words? Is it good? Um… not it’s not good…..it’s freaking fantastic. It’s gritty, mysterious and mind blowing. How about the characters? Well….. they are a bunch of dangerous monsters that I absolutely love. Yes they are dark but they are also funny men who love deep. And then there is Alice. She’s smart, brave and one of those characters that stay with you a while. Great story with wonderful writing . I’m in love!

I am left with a serious bookhangover. I loved it so much.
The book is beautifully written, just as the other books Rachel has ever written.
I was sucked in the story from the very beginning.
I do not want to spoil anything, but I can say this story gave me all the feels.
The characters are perfect. I am still in awe with Alice’s braveness.
I recommend this book if you wanted to read something dark, heartfelt, funny and hot.
I cannot wait for the next book in the series!
Note: This is the final book in the Eagle Elite Series and the first new book in the Elite Bratva Brotherhood. All the books in the series are Standalones and focusing on different couples, so you can start with this story. But trust me, you will want to read the other books in the series too. 😉
Debase, the final book in the Eagle Elite Series and the first new book in the Elite Bratva Brotherhood is Andrei Petrov and Alice De Lange’s story. This was a dark read. It was raw and gritty, intense as there were torture and killing scenes in the story. Yet there was love and passion which will hook you on this love story.
The characters were complex and flawed yet well developed. Their story was heart-breaking and will evoke intense emotions from you. It will have you at the edge of your seat throughout with all the twists and turns and surprise revelations that will blow your mind.
This was my first read from this author and wow what an introduction. This page-turner was a fantastic read and I would highly recommend it to all lovers of Mafia Romances.
I don’t know where to begin. This book was fantastic. I didn’t want to put it down. I loved loved loved the main characters Andrei and Alice and how she showed him love, light and how to live. I loved seeing the glimpses of the guys from previous Eagle Elite books and their significant others. I loved everything about this book.
Side note—while I recommend that you read all the Eagle Elite books prior to this one, this can be read as a standalone and you will still be able to follow and understand the storyline.
Wow, it is hard to put into words how much I loved this book and series. I loved the chemistry between Andrei and Alice. This books has some dark scenes but with typical Rachel VanDyken style, she also had me laughing at times then crying at other times. I love how much this book make me feel. This book is the last of Eagle Elite series but the first for the spinoff of the Russian Mafia. I can’t wait to read this new series. I love how she always brings back the characters from the previous books. I loved them all and I appreciate seeing them in the other books. This is a must read.
I wrote out an entire review and amazon deleted it (or I did.. not going to blame the zon)
Andrei.. oh. My. Lord. A bad boy virgin. Loves to torture them kill. Makes a game out of it. Then comes 632. This book had pretty much everything. I cringed in some parts. I cried in others. I loved in most.
This book is probably my favourite of the mafia series. (Or until the next one)
Blood in no out.
Rachel proves once again why she will forever reign as the “Mafia Queen.” Van Dyken took her love and mine of mafia to a whole new level when she brought us Andrei Petrov. I can’t even contain my devotion for this devil of a man! This book is one show stopping, heart pounding, gut wrenching hell of a story that will be devoured by everyone that reads it! I needed to root for him and Alice to defy all the odds stacked against them and become this amazing power couple that we would never be able to live without and RVD did not disappoint! I never thought I would love a mafia man more than my guy Chase, and now my two favorite guys are sharing a special spot in my heart!
I am so proud of Alice because she is fierce and had no problem going toe to toe with Chase and anyone else. She made Andrei a complete man who only ever thought of himself as a monster for so many reasons in and out of his control. I also need group texts from these crazy mafia guys to happen every day of my life as much as I need air. If Ms. VanDyken ever stops writing mafia, we will never be ok again!
Rachel, thank you for giving us heaven while we were experiencing Andrei’s personal hell. You brought us all the darkness to show us the light and I did not want this book to end because it’s incredible. Hey Petrov….“I’m going to need you to keep me…..because sometimes the monster wins!”
So I haven’t actually read any of the Eagle Elite series apart from the 1001 Dark Nights novella Envy, which I devoured and thoroughly enjoyed, so when I saw Debase was coming out I was straight in there with this, as you don’t need to have read Eagle Elite to enjoy this as its classed as the end of one series and the beginning of a new one. For those that haven’t read the Eagle Elite series like me, Rachel has kindly done a quick recap on the mafia families and a whose who which certainly helped, but within no time I was just lost in the plot and enjoying every minute of it.
This book is all about Andrei Petrov and Alice De Lange, both born into mafia families and with bloodlines that you wouldn’t ask for. Treated abominably by the people that should love them the most, they are both very broken inside with demons aplenty.
Andrei is the last of the Petrov’s having taken over from his father. A man he hates and who and who made him into a monster by making him watch and partake in so many dark and violent acts when he was growing up. He literally doesn’t know how to love and believes himself unworthy of such, having never had it before. He broke my heart…. yes he is a monster, he is violent killing machine, but his father made him what he is, and he believes he has genetically inherited what his father was, but wants to be nothing like him.
Alice gets sold to Andrei by her family after suffering years of abuse at the hands of her brother. She is a member of the De Lange family, at war with the Petrov’s and should have been killed immediately, but Andrei saw something in her, something that called to him, that he cannot ignore.
This is a dark, gritty, raw and violent read – as it should be when mafia families are involved. These mafia men and their families are awesome, violent and cold blooded full of murder, but with their family they love the hardest and they protect each other at all costs.
A brilliant story line, I loved to watch the relationship between Andrei and Alice unfold and evolve, the passion, the chemistry, the attraction are off the scale – yet the war inside Andrei and Alice is even more intense! Rachel does a fantastic balancing job by lightning the story with some much needed banter and wit between the family members that really had me chuckling. Lots of plot twists and turns that will leave you guessing as to what direction the story will take and have you on the edge of your seat.
Brilliant, loved every minute of it and can’t wait to read more of this new series, as well as all the Eagle Elite ones I’ve missed!
“I am the last remaining heir to a dynasty that should burn in Hell.
And my last wish remains for it to die with me.”
The amazingness of this book is beyond words!! I’m completely speechless at the depth and raw beauty of this story. It’s dark, intense, and just the epitome of MAFIA. The main characters are broken, yet powerful in their own way. Together they could cause even more devastation… You just never know what can happen when the mafia is involved! This book gripped me and took me on a crazy ride from the beginning to the very last word – I did NOT want to let Andrei go!
This book is an amazing ending to the Eagle Elite series, and an exciting beginning to a new series – Elite Bratva Brotherhood. Y’all… don’t miss out on DEBASE! It’s a must-read!
I have been absolutely dying for this book and I have to say it did not disappoint! This book really had it all; suspense, romance, emotion and it wouldn’t be an RVD book without some humour running through it. I will say it started off a little slow for me, I’m not sure why, but from about a quarter of way in this was a knuckle biting read. The story was strong and he characters were multi dimensional. Man, I love flawed hero’s and Andre just ticked all my boxes. A really great read and I can’t wait for more secrets to unfold and be revealed. An absolute recommendation.
I was provided with a copy of this book from the publisher; there was no inducement or obligation and I opted to leave a review.
Dark & sexy Russian mafia. The blurb alone gave me chills. Debase is a thrilling new release from Rachel Van Dyken!
This is deserving of each of those 5 stars and more. OH EM GEE. This series has broke me in so many ways, and Debase just added to the cracks running through my heart. I used to not cry, and there I was blabbering like a baby. Andrei’s story was a jab to the ribs that continues to ache no matter I do to ease the pain. 30% in and my mind, my heart, my VERY SOUL was no longer my own, it belonged to Andrei. So much angst, it felt like a heavy blanket over me, adding to the throbbing in my ribs. He is the monster in your closet you should fear, but want to befriend, regardless of the unease settling in the back of your mind that it could drag you to Hell. Dark, alpha, and determined. However, even the monster has a heart and it beats for Alice. The girl who dreamed of the monsters to save her from the real world. A discarded beauty, who finds excitement in the misunderstood, she is all STRONG FEMALE! This story is a mafia twist on the beauty and the beast tale. One Russian Monster plus one Italian Angel with a broken wing, add in crazy Italian Mafia families, lots of blood and death and WHALLA, you have the perfect transition into the Eagle Bravta Brotherhood. I wish I could forget what I’ve just read, and reread it again for the first time.
Even better, I’ve finally found my EE team as well… Go #teamandrei! When two beautifully broken souls find each other and fight to create a strong love, it’s my kryptonite. So if you long to know the monster from all your nightmares, you HAVE to read Debase.
This is the first book that I have read in this series and I enjoyed the story well enough, but I do feel that maybe if i’d have read other books in the series, it would have given me more of an insight of what has happen previously between the warring mafia families, as at times I felt that I was missing out on some sort of inside information or joke.
There is a lot of anger, frustration and danger within the pages of this book, it was a wild ride of sex trafficking, drugs and a romance between two enemies that after just one look can’t help but fall for each other. Both Andrei and Alice have been deeply damaged by the past and by their own families but both still find that deep down they can still find compassion and love. This is a dark romance full of abuse and death.
This book was very well written, with a great storyline but it’s not for the faint hearted. I really connected with the main characters, this lead me to sympathise with them every step of the way as they fought against all the odds stacked up against them. If you love an angsty dark romance story with lots of blood and sex, this book is for you.
