Beloved detective Hercule Poirot embarks on a journey to Egypt in one of Agatha Christie’s most famous mysteries.
The tranquility of a luxury cruise along the Nile was shattered by the discovery that Linnet Ridgeway had been shot through the head. She was young, stylish, and beautiful. A girl who had everything . . . until she lost her life.
Hercule Poirot recalled an earlier outburst by a fellow passenger: “I’d like to put my dear little pistol against her head and just press the trigger.” Yet under the searing heat of the Egyptian sun, nothing is ever quite what it seems.
A sweeping mystery of love, jealousy, and betrayal, Death on the Nile is one of Christie’s most legendary and timeless works.
“Death on the Nile is perfect.” —The Guardian
“One of her best. . . . First rate entertainment.” —Kirkus Reviews

This is classic Agatha Christie with an …
Another Christie classic with all the requisite twists and turns, but for me, this one is Christie at her best. The setting is exotic, the characters exquisite, the mystery so complictaed yet eerily simple… It’s a great place to start if – gasp!- you’ve never read the Queen of Crime.
I’ve just re-read this book and it was as entertaining now as it was fifteen years ago. I love this series with Hercule Poirot.
I always thought that it would be her girlfriend because she stole her boyfriend, but I didn’t think they were both in on it.
I love reading Christie, always have and always will. Death on the Nile is an excellent example of her work. She with her vast knowledge of travel paints a wondrous image of the Nile and many of its key sites. The characters are all very interesting and diverse. As always the crime itself is very puzzling and its solution quite ingenious
As always …
This was the first mystery novel I ever read and remains my favourite. It lives in the shadow of Christie’s more famous works but for me, it has it all: The romantic setting, the closed circle of suspects, and exotic location and a clever detective who sees everything and brilliantly exposes the architects of the crime. It also offers a window …
Book Review by Pauline Reid Death On The Nile by Agatha Christie
What This Book Is About
A murder is committed on a cruise down the Nile on a river steamer. Hercule Poirot as usual, is roped into the enquiries to investigate. Is it a pop from the wine bottle? or is it a pop from a gun? A splash is heard, the mystery …
Death on the Nile. When I began writing, I read a lot of Christie’s novels because I wanted to write Crime Fiction. Christie in Death on the Nile keeps you on the edge of your seat until the end of the novel, as she does in all her works.
4+ out of 5 stars for Death on the Nile, a Hercule Poirot mystery published in 1937 by Agatha Christie. This is one of Christie’s better mysteries, not because of the complexity in the mystery but due to the characters she creates. No one is who they appear to be on this ship, and they are all trapped together. It’s nearly 100 years ago, so how …
A brilliant story. Cleverly crafted with a number of intertwined stories. Plenty of red herrings. Wonderful characters, beautifully rendered. I love how Agatha Christie creates the most robust characters with foibles and physical references. Like all her books, this has an ending you least suspect. What a warped mind she must have had to create …
A classic with well-written characters and many plot twists that keep the reader guessing. I also enjoyed the exotic setting of this mystery!
Είναι πολύ ωραίο και σε κρατάει σε αγωνία!
I would have loved this book more if I didn’t know the end. Too many characters to keep track of and mostly have the same voice while reading it. Thrilled to watch movie ( i only started it because movie is coming)
Typical convoluted Agatha Christie — not her best, but moves quickly, holds the interest, and not her worst by any means.
A great book set in exotic Egypt in the 1930s. The book is well written and the plot keep you guessing.
Oh Agatha, you never, ever disappoint!
How I would love to have lunch with you, you brilliant badass!
My favorite Poirot mystery
Classic Christie!
It is by Christie, nothing else need be said.
This one seemed to be a little less captivating than other Agatha Christie books; still good, but not her best.
