After finding a corpse hidden in a snowman, Stormy is determined to find the culprit — with the help of a mischievous feline named Jeffrey. With nonstop twists and turns, this clever tale is a must-read!First in series! When the daughter of a cop finds a body next door, she’s the only one who can solve the strange mystery. Stormy Day has moved back home, and it’s not for the local coffee or … and it’s not for the local coffee or nightlife, both of which are lacking in Misty Falls, Oregon. She’s there to help her father finally retire from being a cop, and slow the heck down after his hip replacement. Plus she needs to give her brain a break from the high-stakes world of venture capital.
But when she makes a shocking discovery next door, Stormy’s clever brain kicks into overdrive. This murder is too difficult for the local boys in blue to figure out. The new captain of the police department tells her to mind her own business, but he doesn’t take his own advice. He’s always breathing down her neck like a jealous ex-boyfriend (which he is).
What’s there to be jealous of? Stormy’s not even dating anyone. She’s certainly not going to date the ruggedly handsome, bearded lawyer who’s renting half her house. No way. Every time she sees Mr. Logan Sanderson, the town’s newest resident, he’s insulting her one way or another. The man should show his landlady a little more respect! He’s the worst. Sort of. It would be easier to hate him if he weren’t so cute underneath that bushy beard.
Now there’s a murder to solve, and since the legendary Finnegan Day is recovering from surgery, it’s up to his determined daughter Stormy to save the town from a twisted killer. If she fails to solve this twisted puzzle in time, someone close to her will pay a terrible cost.

What follows is a delightful murder mystery.
Stormy Day manages to find a dead snowman next door to her fathers house along with a new cat she names Jeffrey Blue. Stormy moved back to Misty Harbor a small town and with small clues finds the killer. It was a real treat. I liked the plot and the characters were believable

Funny entertaining story, with wonderful characters. Book makes a good fireside, beach or uplifting quarantine read. Looking forward to the next book. Happy reading!
I thought this book was right up my alley. The sense of humor is dry. But it so reminds me of my sisters and father when we get together. The mystery was actually a mystery. And the romance was in a sweet way. I hope it stays like in the rest of the series.
I just love Angela Pepper, she writes the funnest books. Yes, sometimes I figure them out, but sometimes I don’t. I love her wit and sense of humor. Each book is a page turner. I reward myself with her books by making them something I am only allowed to read for the first time while working out (some workouts require ebooks, the treadmill you can …
Loved it
The opening of this story is AMAZING. Pepper pulled me slowly into her tale and then bam, knocked me off my reading chair with a shocking event. I don’t want to give away the plot, but she hooked me.
Stormy Day is a likable heroine, the kind you want to hang out with. She left her big-city job to return to her hometown to help her dad recuperate …
This is the first book I’ve read from this author and I’m hooked! I really enjoyed this story and all the characters in it. I like that Stormy is such a smart, independent woman. This is a nice, cozy mystery with no offensive language or gory crime scenes. I’m looking forward to reading more of Stormy’s adventures in this quaint town.
Got it free. Easy to read, fairly entertaining.
Stormy Day has returned to Misty Falls and right into a murder. She finds her neighbor buried in a snowman and takes it upon herself to solve the mystery. Since her dad was a cop and she helped him out sometimes when she was a kid, she figures she’ll be good at it. She actually is pretty good at it and gets to know her neighbors in the community …
I’ll never look at a snowman the same!
I liked the main character and look forward to reading other books with her in them.
It was a nice surprise to find a “cozy mystery” with enough meat in it to be enjoyable. It had a good story line, with enough surprising little tidbits of the past to keep my interest and not so much guessing “who” to be tiresome.
I enjoyed this book. The characters are colorful and whimsical, and the plot weird enough to be page turning. Who hides a body inside a snowman?! There is no cliffhanger, making you buy the next book, but for me it was entertaining enough to make me want to read further into the series to see what develops with some of the characters and to see …
I really enjoyed this book. Characters and storyline were great.
I enjoyed this book so I am going to read the rest of the series
