Tea and crumpets and murder…Location scout and Jane Austen aficionado, Kate Sharp, is thrilled when the company she works for lands the job of finding locations for a new film adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, but then her boss, Kevin, fails to return from a scouting trip to England. Afraid that Kevin has slipped back into some destructive personal habits he struggles with, Kate travels to … struggles with, Kate travels to England to salvage Kevin’s and the company’s reputation before word gets out that he is missing.
Things go from bad to worse when Kate arrives in Nether Woodsmoor, a quaint village of golden stone cottages and rolling green hills, only to find no trace of Kevin except his abandoned luggage. Even the rumpled, easygoing local scout they consulted, Alex, doesn’t know where Kevin might be.
Increasingly worried about Kevin and with an antsy director waiting for updates about the preproduction details, Kate embarks on a search that includes a pub crawl and cozy cottages as well as stately country manors. But Kevin remains missing, and she begins to suspect that the picturesque village and beautiful countryside may not be as idyllic as they seem.

A wonderful combination of everything I love about mysteries and historical fiction!
The mystery and investigation were believable, with characters I’d like to know better, and the amazing attention to the setting made me feel like I was taking a stroll with Elizabeth Bennet in the English countryside. Where this novel truly shines is in the …
I am a first time “reader” of Ms. Rosett and picked up this book on Audible. It was recommended to me by one of my readers, who suggested I might want to invite Ms. Rosett onto my Wine Women & Writing podcast. I really enjoyed the mystery, the protagonist, and the premise of the series (location scouting). Excellent job Ms. Rosett!
A relaxing, light read about an American who travels to an English village to discover why her colleague hasn’t returned to the States as planned.
If you happen to
1) love British countryside or all things British (as I do)
2) love Jane Austen’s books (or movies from her books)
3) be a cozy mystery reader
You can’t miss this book, actually the whole series, it has them all in a witty contemporary fashion!
Very entertaining story with believable characters, great location (making one want to travel to the English Countryside), and filled with twists and turns throughout. Highly recommend. Looking forward to the next book. Happy reading!
This is a charming cozy! When Kate is sent to England to locate her boss, a film location expert, she thought she’d find him drunk somewhere. Alas, more sinister forces were afoot. She meets a cute guy, who turns out to be a very credible red herring, and several other quirky characters, most of whom own homes in the running for movie locations. …
England, present-day, cozy mystery
Good plot that completely held my interest til the end. Interesting characters and beautiful descriptives are icing on the top!
Loved the story, the descriptive language and the cleanness of it’
New kind of cozy mystery for me about a woman who checks out a location for a movie and a co-worker goes missing doing the same job.
I really enjoyed this book. I enjoyed the background information about Jane Austin.
A diverse and absorbing cast of characters set in the beautiful English countryside with murder, jealousy and greed playing leading roles. Extensive research about Jane Austen and her masterpiece, Pride and Prejudice, adds and alluring aspect to the all around perfect book. Very Highly Recommended.
Ready for the next in the series.
Fun Book to get lost in for a bit!
HOWEVER terrible upload job for these stories. Pages are skipped and then you have to go back to retried, over and over. Not worth the trouble . It is a shame.
First line of the blurb ‘location scout and Jane Austen aficionado’ was all it took to hook my interest in this new to me author, series, and narrator.
Death in the English Countryside introduces female lead, Kate Sharp. She enjoys her work, first as the assistant to a veteran Hollywood location scout, but, now, being brought on as a budding …
I really enjoyed this book. It kept my interest until the very end. A really good “who done it” I love mysteries and this one is so good I am reading the next book in the series right now.
interesting, fun read
I enjoyed this much more than expected. I thought this would be another “cozy mystery with not much plot but it was entertaining and even though I figured out the “killer” going along with those searching was enjoyable.
No real surprises but a nice easy read.
I found this to be a very pleasurable read. I liked the characters and the descriptions of the countryside. Looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
