Since she was four, Elle’s life has been nothing but pain and death, so it’s not surprising she ended up jaded.
When Elle’s absentee father kidnaps her from her own mother’s funeral, Elle is forcefully enrolled into Fallen Academy, a school for nephilim like herself.
Mind readers, seers, and elementals? Finally, Elle is with other freaks like herself.
Except, Elle soon finds that even … herself.
Except, Elle soon finds that even surrounded by her own kind, she might just be too different to fit in.
Will Elle find her place among the other children of the fallen? Or does her father have plans of his own?

Death In Her Eyes by Erin Bedford is an amazing story that I have had the privilege to read. This is book number one in this amazing new start to a brand new series that I have loved reading and can not wait to read the next book. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about fantasy and paranormal romances.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Ok i always enjoy reading anything by Erin but Wow this new book takes things to a different level as i really couldnt put it down at all!!! Overcoming adversity to be strong is the staple of a lot of books but one Erin does so well and I really like this new female MC and you are quickly drawn to her emotionally pulling at your heart strings with what she has had to overcome and feeling proud of her as she is today.
There is lots of intrigue, sub plots. twists and turns plus some interesting and of course hot guys which of course is needed but its a very slow burn start so dont expect much action in this book but the really good storey line makes up for this and captures your imagination> The ending leaves you completely hooked and needing the next book!!!! No spoilers – you just need to read the book
Bad language. Good plot though. Don’t really recommend
I have read many academy series. This one kept my interest. I could not put it down. Sometimes reviews are hard to do because you don’t want to give the story away.
Elle is a Nephiilim. At her mothers funeral she is basically kidnapped from her mothers funeral by her absent father.
She is put in the Fallen Academy by him for supposedly her own good. Se doesn’t get any answers. believe me this story is full of everything you are looking for. For those of you who love these types of books you will absolutely love this.

Our heroine is not like other girls and it turns out there is a really good reason for that, but it doesn’t make life any easier. Then getting shuffled off to a paranormal academy upon her mother’s death just heaps on the issues.
This is book one of the series.
This is an urban fantasy story with an academy setting. The story is well written and easy to read, which I expect from the author. Similarly, the characters are well developed, with solid back stories and distinctive traits which makes them real. The plot is rather intriguing with plenty of mysteries and secrets to keep things interesting. It also moves along at a good clip which helps keep your interest. Overall, a nice start to the series and I am looking forward to seeing where this one goes.
Highly recommended.

This is book one of the Children of the Fallen series and the main character is Elle, who is now almost eighteen and has been tortured since she was a toddler, by a strange ability she has. If she touches someone, she sees their death and none have ever been a gentle death! She avoids people as much as possible in her life, but school is hell since she has been considered a weirdo for years, after innocently saying what would happen to someone’s pet. She knows how but not when, those close to her like her only friend and even her mother are going to die and it almost sends her mad. She tries to keep all of those memories locked away and avoid even an accidental touch with anyone. She hasn’t seen her father Bart since she was thirteen and he isn’t someone that has exactly been in her life much!
After her mother’s sudden death in a gruesome car accident, Elle is surrounded by relatives at her funeral. Only the one person she didn’t contact, her father, is the one who turns up and steals her away from the graveside and her best friend. It is done magically and she wakes up on the sofa of a strange room. Her father has taken her to a school for Children of the Fallen and Nephilim. She soon finds out that Angels are real and there are those that are still Angels and then those who have Fallen and the children of these beings. It shouldn’t really happen, but when it does, these children are usually hunted down and killed by the Angels.
These children have some of the powers of Angels and are split into two main groups in the school. Those who have mental abilities and those who have Elemental powers, such as Earth, Air, Wind or Fire. Elle is the odd one out and the first person she bonds with is a handsome guy outside having a cigarette. Unfortunately he turns out to be one of her teachers and swooned over by all the female students. This causes some to show a bit of aggression towards her as she gets his attention again. She is put straight into classes the next day, but really wants to get out of there and back to her friend at home.
Other students are at the school unexpectedly like her, but others were sent there to be safe by one of their parents. The school is protected against Angel attacks and is the only safe haven for most of these students. If they weren’t there, they would probably have been hunted down and killed by now. Elle however, doesn’t see anyone else who is quite like her and one of her first lessons ends really badly, with a fellow student in a coma! Her friends instantly blame Elle for everything and want her out of the school, never mind how dangerous that could be for her. When they realise who her father is, this gives them even more reasons to want her gone!
She still wants to get away and back to her friend, but finds she is in the middle of nowhere. Her plans to have her friend pick her up are hopeless, but she still looks for a way out. She hasn’t managed to find a place with either group of students, and the class she was forced to take part in has caused her more problems. Why her visions are only of people’s deaths, is a question she has for the only other seer at the school. The handsome teacher is closer to her than anyone else, but she really shouldn’t be going there, even in her thoughts or visions. He is the only one that can explain how she came to be there and the plans that her father and others may have for her! When an attack comes, it will either be the end of her or her only chance to escape. What she chooses to do will no doubt have a massive impact on her and others futures.
I can’t wait to read the next book in this series, Fire in Her Blood, to see what happens next. Certainly a different academy style storyline, with Fallen Angels and Nephilim at the heart of the story and also the epic battle between good and evil as it is perceived, still to come. Whether she makes the right decision at the end of the first book is yet to be discovered, so I am glad there isn’t very long to wait for the second book. I can’t believe it was nearly three hundred pages long, as I didn’t put it down and read it straight through is such a short time. Or so it seemed. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have bought it as well as I enjoyed it so much. I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.
Elle sees allot of death but can’t do anything to prevent it she has one friend. And her mother but when her mother dies her very absent father shows up and takes her away from everything and her only friend. Elle will do anything to get back. She makes friends and enemies quickly she believes Fallon Academy is keeping things from her and everyone else. She will face family disappointment when she learns some hard truths meet two very different men both Angels Dex and Cass both fighting on different sides of and upcoming battle who will Elle choose to stand with when the gates fall.
Dex older teacher at the Academy he has some good traits but I’m not sure why when he and Elle first meet he doesn’t know shes a student which will make things complicated between them. I saw him as more of a student then a teacher and I think his character waited too late to say things which I think lead to Elle making her decision.
Cass he is and interesting character you don’t get allot on him until almost the end of the book hes and interesting mystery you wonder about his motives about Elle. So I git why Elle made her decision caught between lies Deception and and unknown freedom one that hasn’t asked anything from her yet. Cant wait for the second installment of this series.
I was allowed to read and advance copy of this book via Booksprout and this is my honest review. I have also purchased a copy.

A tumultuous wild ride chocked-full of vexing circumstances and dubious mishaps, kick those churning emotions into play, booting this baby into the eye of the storm, propelling it into a tailspin with a mind-blowing culmination. Tramping through a minefield of daring drama, unveiling revelations, damning secrets, captivating intrigue, escalating danger and spiraling suspense, maneuvering through the cunning manipulations of malicious deeds and vicious iniquity, blasting this little gem to life spectacularly. The characters, interactions and charged atmosphere along with relatable qualities and individual traits add depth and diversity, transforming into formidable personalities. The scenes are strikingly sharp with abundant details and vivid descriptions that feel as though you were transported to ground zero with them. Remarkable job Erin, thanks for sharing this little jewel with us.
I love this series!
You will not regret reading Elle’s story! So many twists and turns that leave you on a cliffhanger!
When I pick up an Erin Bedford I actually know what I get. And I like that. I like it when I know what kinda book something will be, even when I don’t read the blurb on the back. I like it when I know in what kind of mood I need to be to read a book, or how much time and energy I will need to read it. When it comes to Erin Bedford I’ve discovered that her books are easy to read, light hearted and most of all addictive.
This book is exactly that. Right away I found it easy to connect with our heroine. The way she described her gift, or curse, was so well done that I could feel the distress and discomfort myself. Therefore I kinda felt a bond with her right away and was invested in her journey. I cared about her and even though she didn’t always do the smart thing, I understood why she made her choices, why she didn’t always do the sensible thing, why she was rebelling and struggling with following the rules.
On top of that she guides us slowly through the mythology of this world. Because she knows nothing about Angels, Nephilim and all the special powers, everything is new for her too. And because of the academy setting the info dumps never feel forced or too much. It also helps that Bedford never throws lengthy explanations our way. She simply explains what we, and our heroine, need to know and piece by piece we’re getting a more complete picture.
Since there was so much we didn’t know and since the academy was a very closed setting I don’t feel like the plot has already really started, however, I never got bored or never had the feeling that things took too long. This build up leads to an amazing finale of the first book and I can only get more excited about what’s yet to come, because I feel like now we’re really getting started. Our heroine is moving to the centre of the conflict and world and I can’t wait to see how everything will play out.
Death in her eyes by Erin Bedford.
This is book 1 of children of the fallen series.
A great read with some good characters. I liked Elle. I love anything to do with magic. I liked the cover. I hope there is more to come. I can’t wait to find out what Elle gets up to next. 4*.
Elle has just turned 18. She is estranged for her father and has no use for him. She has a talent she’d rather not have…she can see how people will die; not only see it but experience it as well. She’s seen her mother’s death and is dreading the day it happens.
On the day of her mother’s funeral, her father kidnaps her and spirits her away to a school for Nephilim (the child of an angel and a human). Things just get weirder from there.
The author does extremely well with descriptions of the characters’ emotions to the point that the reader can almost feel them. You can also feel their characteristics, like snarky, stuck up, caring, funny, etc. The descriptions of the surroundings are also well done. I can hardy wait for the next book in the series. Warning, does end with a cliff-hanger.

This is an intriguing beginning to a series about the ongoing war between fallen and the angels. Elle discovers she is a nephilim, daughter of a fallen, at her mother’s funeral. Whisked off to Fallen Academy by her absentee father, she is thrown into the middle of things and told she is to stay there for her own safety. The more Elle finds out the more conflicted she becomes, especially about her teacher/mentor Dex. When charming Cass, an angel, shows up she has no idea what to do. Elle is a great character, strong, brave, independent and very snarky. I received an advance copy of this book and voluntarily left a review.
Death, pain, powers (our Star here, Elle, can predict a person’s death by touch), discoveries that are shocking (that her school is full of angel’s children – and that the angels still exist and are out to kill them), and do much more. All perfectly put together in a powerfully great, and superbly written first series book. Such is Erin Bedford’s Death In Her Eyes (Children of the Fallen Book 1), and it’s easy to highly recommend.
Death In Her Eyes. Wonderful as always with interesting characters and a great story line.

I loved this book, it’s a paranormal academy romance, with the FMC discovering her life has been a lie for her own safety, and she’s taken to an academy for the gifted for her protection. Elle has trouble adjusting to her new reality and learning about her abilities, and is left feeling betrayed and manipulated. This book was a real page turner that I couldn’t stop once I started, and I’m looking forward to the next book in the series with bated breath, I really enjoyed Krys Janae’s narration, it’s always very expressive.
A new series and wow what a start to this new series Children of the Fallen. From a young age Elle has been surrounded by death, she’d only have to touch people to see their death. At her mother’s funeral her farther takes her and this is when she learns she’s no ordinary human. And now I want more from this series on the ASAP.

An intriguing story where Elle can see someone’s death if they touch her. Mom just died and dad was non existent but all of a sudden, here he is at Mom’s funeral. He picks up Elle and whisked her to some unknown place where people train for special skills. People are scared of Elle because of her visions but she is defiance to everyone. Loved the characters and the wonderful storytelling! Now, On to the next book On the series.
Really enjoyed this action packed, emotionally thrilling adventure filled with dangerous and exciting charters, witty dialog, heart racing twists, exciting turns and intriguing moments. Highly entertaining read
