Angel of Death. Black market magic. When you’re Ashira Cohen, smart is the new kickass. When Ash is hired to solve her first murder, it seems like a perfectly normal, open-and-shut case of family feuds and bad blood. Until Ash discovers an evil magical artifact and her lead suspect is of the winged, white-robed, celestial variety. As if that weren’t bad enough, if she can’t find the perpetrator … white-robed, celestial variety. As if that weren’t bad enough, if she can’t find the perpetrator quickly, fourteen vials of lethal, ghostly magic will be sold to the highest bidder.
Her quest to figure out her Jezebel powers and find the shadowy organization responsible for stripping teens of their magic isn’t going any smoother, either. Can’t a girl just pursue her dream career without getting caught up in a mysterious destiny? Or, for that matter, playing a dangerous Sherlock-Moriarty game with the infuriatingly hot alpha male in charge of Vancouver’s magical community?
But when Ash accidentally crosses the cunning and deadly Queen of Hearts, ruler of the magic black market, all those cases may go unresolved.
Permanently.
With the clock ticking, it’ll take all of Ash’s intelligence to survive with her moral center–and her head–intact. The game is afoot and failure is not an option.

Uncaged Review: Ash is coming to terms with her Jezebel magic, and to being the Private Investigator she’s always dreamed of. When she gets a hold of a magical artifact during a case, it’s siren song is hard to resist. On top of all of that, her deal with the Queen of Hedon to get the vials of smudge back is becoming more and more twisted.
This book has this story coming along nicely, and the romance between Ash and Levi continues to slowly climb in intensity. This author is known for her snarky bad-ass characters and Ashira is no shrinking violet, but the author doesn’t make the character over the top and hard to like, Ash is definitely a character that grabs hold of the reader. Along with the mish mash of a supporting cast, this series is one to cozy up to and be ready for a fun ride. Reviewed by Cyrene
I loved the book. Ash is awesome Levi has grown on me. I even like the Queen I’ve decided she’s not inherently evil. More a vigilante. The only complaint I have is I wish there was something in the back that has pronunciations of the Jewish words and what they mean
Ash is really getting the hang of her magic. She is summoned by the Queen of Hearts to handle a murder case. Now this case has Ash’s name all over it with all of the odd circumstances. There is a couple getting married in Hedon and the groom is the victim. One family is Nefesh and one family human and they hate each other. Levi and Ash still have issues and she doesn’t want to give him a break. Their chemistry together is off the charts and when they are alone it is scorching. Now her relationship with her mother is not going very well. Her mom still won’t acknowledge her magic. Ash is working to find out more about the Jezebels and she where she fits in. This series has more twists than a corkscrew. It is fantastic. I requested an advanced reader copy and am under no obligation to leave this review.
A great story full of action, adventure, danger, mystery and a touch of romance. The feisty smack talking Ash is back and with a new case where all is not as it seems. Not only must she deal with a backstabbing Queen, but also locating the other Jezebels, convincing her mother she’s no longer a Mundane, and prove that the attempted murderer, the Angel of Death, isn’t real. This emotional roller coaster will have you on the edge of your seat with plenty of turns and twist that will leave you thoroughly entertained. As the fast approaching deadline and mystery behind Chariot increases rules must be broken if she hopes to find the truth and crack her case. This enjoyable book is definitely worth giving a read and I look forward to the next installment.
This is a great sequel. As with book one I was hooked from the very first page and in this continuation the Awesome storyline continues to develop and grow. I love the friendship and relationships that are developing and am loving the snarkiness in this fantastic world created by this author that is full of magic and mystery!
