USA TODAY BESTSELLER!First book in the Death by Chocolate series Lindsay loves chocolate. It tastes good, it makes her feel good, it never cheats on her like her almost-ex-husband. It’s her best friend. But someone wants her dead and uses her weak spot—chocolate—to try to murder her. Lindsay’s only secret is the recipe for her chocolate chip cookies, but she is surrounded by neighbors with deadly … by neighbors with deadly secrets. Suddenly she finds herself battling poisoned chocolate, a psycho stalker, and a dead man who seems awfully active for a corpse.
Her best friend and co-worker, Paula, dyes her blond hair brown, hides from everybody and insists on always having an emergency exit from any room. Secrets from Paula’s past have come back to put lives in jeopardy.
Determined to help Paula, Lindsay enlists the reluctant aid of another neighbor, Fred, an OCD computer nerd. In spite of his mundane existence, Fred possesses tidbits of knowledge about such things as hidden microphones, guns, the inside of maximum security prisons and how to take someone down with a well-aimed kick to his chin.
As Lindsay battles the elusive stalker, poisoned chocolate, and the dead man, she will need more than a chocolate fix to survive. But that’s always a good start.

Chocolate and mystery combined into one fun read.
Lindsey Powell owns a chocolate shop in Kansas City. When her best friend is stalked, Lindsey investigates.
Berneathy gives us a sassy protagonist, an engaging plot with vivid descriptions, and captivating secondary characters. All done within a delightful chocolate environment with plenty of humor.
A fun, fast-paced read.
Love Lindsey’s sense of humor, had tears running down my face and had me looking for chocolate, Having a Flame Point male myself, I know the jungle scream she writes about. Although my guy has never torn into people quite that way. I could see it. Looking forward to the next book in the series
Death by Chocolate is a fun mystery with some well developed characters that keep you wondering what they will do next. Oh and the chocolate recipes at the end are to “die for”.
Laugh out loud story; filled with mostly lovable characters, twists and turns throughout, and an unexpected ending. Recipes included at the end. Happy reading. Looking forward to the next book.
I have read this series twice. I read a lot of murder mysteries and World War I books. So, this series was fun to read. The characters are so likeable and form a nice little unit of friends. The books are well written and full of funny antics, especially by the main character. I am hoping another book in this series will be written by Sally …
I’ve read several of the free Apple Books, and this one was one of my favorites. The main character was spunky, the problems were unpredictable and real-feeling, and I enjoyed the story! It kept me engaged and was a fun cozy mystery.
Fun!
I recommend the entire series. Great characters. I finished the chocolate series and immediately bought the Charlie’s ghost series. A wonderfully light touch with characters you love.
I really enjoyed reading this book. Didn’t want to put it down.
To be honest I wasn’t sure I was going to like this book at first. I am not a romance or chick flick type of reader and I thought that was were it was headed, but I was pleasantly surprised. It was a very good read with no excessive violence, sex or language that some may find objectionable.
I enjoyed most of the characters, although I thought …
Received a free copy for a review. Fantastic story! Loved the characters and the story line. There are laughs, drama and twists to keep you reading.
Fun characters – Nice mystery with well-developed characters. I really liked Fred, the next-door neighbor and of course, Lindsey, the nosy main character. Lindsey’s newly adopted attack cat, Henry, was especially entertaining. I did not find the ‘soon-to-be-ex’, Rick that interesting…but he helped the story-line. This was a quick and fun read …
This was a fun cozy mystery. The characters are interesting and there are a few twists to the story line. The writing style was one that drew me in to the story immediately.
great fun read. the characters were fantastic, the story was captivating, the plot line was beleivable
I could not get enough of the stories. The minute I finished one book, I was anxious to read the next. I’m only disappointed that the series ends at 7.
I really enjoyed this funny mystery with Lindsay, a heroine who loves to cook with chocolate. Lindsay is in the middle of a divorce from a conflicted soon-to-be ex-husband. Her new business partner Paula who has a young son and a secret about her past life and name. Into their lives comes murder and confusion, Lindsay is left with working with her …
I really enjoyed reading this book. It was one you want to keep reading just to see what is going to happen next.
I love the quirky characters that inhabit most cozy mysteries. This book had plenty of those and lots of secrets. When one of her neighbors and employee at Lindsey’s bakery is threatened, our heroine jumps in to help. Chaos, intrigue, and humor follow.
This whole series is so fun! I hate having the books end.
