You discover a lobbyist shoveling foreign cash to American politicians and suddenly, you’re dodging assassins.Jacob Stearne wants to find a wife, start a family, and settle down. He’s doing his best to impress his date when a stranger is murdered in his driveway. He tries to follow a clue the dying man left but the cops collar him as the murder suspect. He must track the real assassins before the … assassins before the detectives lock him up with the criminally insane. All the clues point to someone at the symposium his boss will attend.
His boss, Pia Sabel, and her father attend the symposium for top corporate executives. They are happily mingling with other CEOs when a lobbyist is found dead. Pia quickly uncovers the real purpose of the gathering: to pump foreign cash into the hands of American politicians. Outraged, she sets out to expose the oligarchs, autocrats and terrorists buying senators. Then her father is kidnapped. Before she realizes the size of the hornet’s nest she kicked over, she’s ducking mercenaries and assassins. Can Jacob and Pia clean up international corruption or will they be the next to die?

I received an ARC from the author at my request and this is my honest opinion. (Yes, I know I am more than a little late posting my review. Somehow this book got lost in the Black Hole of Calcutta that is my TBR list. But since I promised when I accepted this that I would leave a review I have to follow through.) Oh. My. Stars!! The action in this book grabs the reader midway into the first chapter and doesn’t let go until the end. I think if you look up the definition of action and suspense you will find a picture of Death and Dark Money. Many of the scenarios in the book are not realistic – Mercury and his Mayan god friend, a worldwide security company whose agents use paralyzing darts instead of bullets most of the time – but as I said in my review of Element 42, I don’t read for realism, I have more of that than I can handle. Mr. James’ books provide all of the escapism and enjoyment I could ever ask for. His “good guys” have all of the qualities I look for – loyalty, skill, compassion, light-heartedness – and the “bad guys” are so awful – underhanded, sadistic, cruel, just plain mean – that I have seriously considered doubly up on my blood pressure meds. I highly recommend this series and I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book.
More adventures of Pia and her team as they all continue to evolve and grow. Lots of action, conflict, and twists. Did not put it down until I finished.
I have the next book in my reading queue.
Setting Up An Epic Confrontation. In this tale, we get more hilarity from Mercury, more baddassery from Jacob, and still not enough of the original Pia. We also get a fairly epic conclusion to many of the storylines that have been playing around since The Geneva Decision – with one very major one only teased. Excellent book, looking forward to the next one.
Another Roller Coaster Ride and Not Really A Fun One!!!
Seeley James really takes you for a ride in “Sabel Security (Book 2). This one is as fast moving and action packed or even more than the first three were. What a great ride he takes you on. Pia, her security gang and the god, Mercury are all over the world chasing dirty politicians. I could not put this book down. I love fast moving action books and The Sabel Security Series definitely meet all the requirements and then some. Seeley James continues to build the characters back lives and the world they are in. He is a master at this. I love this series and I highly recommend it. So you don’t spoil it start with book one. These books are definitely worth the read. I’m glad the next one is already done so I don’t have wait. Start ‘THE SABEL ORIGINS’ and ‘THE SABEL SECURITY SERIES’ today!!
