What happens when a woman falls in love with her stalker?I’m not the type of woman who actually inspires passion in any guy, much less one who makes it a habit to watch me because he’s obsessed.I’m a curvy, plain Jane. I like my chips, chocolate, and junk food, and it definitely shows.I’m an educated geek who would rather have my nose in a computer instead of a fashion magazine. But none of those … those things seem to matter to Stalker. He sees something in me that I don’t see in myself, and I don’t know why.I’m terrified, yet I’m inexplicably intrigued.I’m cautious by nature, but something makes me want to know who he is, and why he gives a sh*t about somebody like me.I know falling for a man I’ve never seen in the light of day is dangerous.Does he stalk me because he wants to own me, control me, and make me into the woman he thinks that I am?Does he want to hurt me, or is he just a lost soul like me?
more
The stalker is not really a stalker, he is just a guy that really likes this girl and wants to help her out financially and keep track of how she is doing because he knows she is alone in the world. He does this behind the facade of “Stalker” because he has his own issues and is a recluse.
I love it when an author dares to be different. Ms. Parker finds inspiration in being unique and I have quickly become a fan. Dearest Stalker finds boldness in subtlety. Lane Parker takes readers on what feels like a head trip in the most intriguing of ways. Katie and Ian danced their way into emotions with their unconventional courtship. He’s her guardian angel, she’s his unsuspecting muse. Can the stalker change his ways and become the man of her dreams?
Stalker that dreams are made of…
Wow! This was my first book by this author (and her pen name), but if this is typical of her writing, it definitely won’t be my last! I am really glad that I didn’t read this in parts but instead read the whole thing. I couldn’t put it down once I started reading it, and had a book-hangover when I finished, even re-reading several key parts again. The characters were all well developed and, despite her acceptance of her stalker without fear, realistic. The well-written story was witty without being silly. I laughed with glee often. I felt Kate should have figured it out sooner, but so often people are blind to what they don’t want to see.
I cannot wait for Dearest Protector to come out!
When Katie Finds Herself All Alone In The World, Her Stalker Comes To The Rescue! She Knows She Needs Something Real In Her Life And Tries To Move On, But Things Get Complicated When Her Stalker’s Identity Is Revealed.
This is the complete Dear Stalker series – just over 300 pages – which includes four short novellas. Dearest Stalker: Part 1 is available free from Amazon as of this writing, but the remainder of the series is only available in this collection.
Although this is a Lane Parker book (J.S. Scott’s alter ego), fans of J.S. Scott will find that this story has the same familiar tone and rhythm. Granted, the Stalker aspect here is on the racier side, but as that aspect of the story resolves and the couple comes to terms with their situation, familiar themes emerge.
Katherine Riley, twenty-two, finds herself all alone amidst the crowd of well-to-do at her father’s funeral reception. She hadn’t seen him in years. He never took his role as father and husband seriously before he left her and her mother to fend for themselves. Katie had turned out alright thanks to her own hard work and that of her mother, who hadn’t lived to see Katie give the valedictorian speech at her high school graduation nearly four years ago. Katie’s father had gone on to marry a wealthy woman, whose mansion Katie stood in as she felt so alone in the world now. The only person left in her life was her friend Ariel, who had just moved back from New York after an injury brought her dream of becoming a ballerina to a premature end.
It was late winter in Southern Florida when Katie made her way home to Fort Meyers from her school in Massachusetts. Although Katie’s coursework is complete, the ceremony in which she receives her bachelor’s degree is yet a few months away. Her major is in computer science, but she plans on pursuing software engineering for her master’s degree. Her father’s death, however, leaves her with a dilemma. Her father had finally stepped up since she left for college, and though it didn’t make up for the absence of his support as she grew up, it had given her something to hold on to since her mother had passed. They had exchanged texts every so often on the phone that he left for her. He had entered his contact info under the name Stalker, strangely enough. And importantly, he had sent her money to help cover the expenses not covered by her scholarships. She still had to get a job to cover all her expenses, but his gifts had helped considerably. His death would mean the end of his financial assistance, and Katie would soon be out of a place to live. Her first priority must now be to secure employment, something entry-level, and hope to complete her master’s degree while holding down a full-time job.
When Katie finds herself grabbed in the dark and at the mercy of a stranger, she wants to fight back. Little does she expect her stranger to know her name and whisper sweet words that leave her desperate for more. And she must be crazy when she realizes that she wants to see him again. She wants to know who it is that she feels so connected to. She wants to see his face. She knows it is someone that knows her. But who?
Ben Blackwood, twenty-seven, is technically Katie’s stepbrother. Although they had met previously, he and Katie are still essentially strangers. It takes Katie by surprise when he insists that in spite of her father’s death, he still considers her family. He tries to take her under his wing, and given her impending homelessness, she finally accepts his help. He gets her set up with a place to stay.
Ben’s dreamy looks and billionaire status make him a most sought after bachelor, though he is mostly focused on his work at Blackwood Technologies. He and his older brother Ian took over the tech giant after their father’s death nearly six years ago, and in that time they have turned it into a powerhouse with their edgy ideas. Katie’s interest lies in robotics, and Ben helps get her interview lined up for a coveted position on their robotics team.
Ian Blackwood, the older Blackwood brother, is away from home when Katie temporarily moves into his vacant guest house. He heads the robotics surgery project at Blackwood. He, too, is devoted to his work. He is passionate about bringing new technology to the market. He often travels – he owns many homes – but when he does show up to the office, his employees are careful not to upset the notoriously terrifying older Blackwood brother.
Doug Ryker, Katie’s old high school lab partner and co-worker at the local grocery story, had always had a crush on Katie according to her friend Ariel. While Katie had always been a geek, Doug had been in the cool crowd. A popular football player. He had left to play college football, but is now back and living in the area after an injury ruined his professional prospects. Katie hadn’t realized that the former bag boy had been the son of the owner of a national chain of grocery stores.
As she tries to figure out the identity of her mystery stalker, Katie finally comes to terms with the insecurities that have built up as a result of her total attention to her studies. And as she comes to terms with being alone in the world, Ben has her rethinking the definition of family. She is challenged with truths and preconceived notions. When she finally identifies her stalker, she must also face betrayal. Fiercely independent, Katie struggles to accept help from family, friends, and strangers alike.
Katie’s dark story is a steamy stalker romance. The stalker element is thrilling in the beginning. As the story unravels and the identity is revealed, the story puts a very human face on the stalker. It shows how something fairly innocent snowballed out of control. *Spoiler* Although the story mostly skips over it, Katie really shares the blame here, as she also allowed things to snowball. Her gut reaction to the stalker’s identity thus feels a little off. Nevertheless, the couple eventually earns a happy ending.
A spin-off, Dearest Protector, is announced but as of this writing has not been written. It is Ariel’s story.
When Katie finds herself all alone in the world, her stalker comes to the rescue. She knows she needs something real in her life and tries to move on, but things get complicated when her stalker’s identity is revealed. The story is well-written and plot-driven. The story is written in first person. The POV alternates between Katie and her stalker. I rate this book four stars.
Holy moly, was this not the type of stalker story I was expecting! For years, Katie thought her “stalker” was her estranged father trying to help her through college and make up for years of neglectful parenting. Only after his death does she learn the truth, that “Stalker” wasn’t her dad, but someone else entirely, and she has no idea who. A hot and steamy encounter in a boathouse, and later another in her bedroom, and Katie finds herself falling for this mysterious stalker. What happens when she starts falling for her new boss, and then she finds out who her stalker really is? It’s definitely an explosive situation. Both Katie and Stalker are fighting their demons, and as they fight their feelings for each other, it only fans the flames. There’s passion, love, and acceptance, and it all works very well. I loved the duet narration, it was a fantastic change from the usual narration with two narrators.
Ok, so I went into this with a little bit of trepidation. The thought of someone falling for their Stalker seemed kind of off putting to me. Honestly, I liked this entire series. I am glad that I got the opportunity to get all four books in one instead of waiting for each book to come out. Kate and Ian are perfectly imperfect and their journey was endearing. I’m happy that I took a chance on this story. Well done J.S. Scott.
Dearest Stalker: A Complete Collection was a great read by Lane Parker. This collection follows a woman who falls in love with her stalker. Kate has lost both of her parents and feels as though she has no one else in her life. She doesn’t realize it but she does have her two stepbrothers who care about her. She also has a stalker who would do anything he can for her. I absolutely loved reading Kate’s story and can’t wait to read more by Lane Parker.
Part One in Dearest Stalker series by Lane Parker/J. S. Scott. Listening on audible narrators Elizabeth Powers and Dexter Collins
Kate is a student trying to finish her college but unexpectedly her dead beat rich father dies and she goes to funeral.
This is were she realises her totally alone at 22 with both parents dead. That’s where her fantasy man finds her and seduces her taking her virginity.
That’s when she finds out her mobile was given to her by her ‘stalker’ not her father.
Her father walked out on her and her mother and also didn’t send financial help, which Katie step family was very annoyed about.
Part of me found this a bit weird but now I’m hooked and I’ve got to find out who the ‘Stalker’ is.
I didn’t mind Katie character but she didn’t see her stepbrothers or stepmother as family even when they gave her a place to live and wanted to help while she was trying to finish school and find a job but she’s really reluctant to take help and personally comes across has harsh and ungrateful at time.
This audiobook is done with duel narration and I absolutely love that the female narrator does the female parts and the male narrator does the male parts. The narration is really great and absolutely love Dexter Collins sexy voice
Part Two in Dearest Stalker series by Lane Parker/J. S. Scott.
Katie finds out the her mobile school cost have all been paid by her ‘Stalker’ and starts messaging him and getting very one liners back. Kate says going through people to try figure get who is her ‘Stalker’
When ‘Stalker’ finds out Kate thinks her money’s come from her father. he breaks her heart and tells her it’s from ‘Stalker’.
He turns up in middle of night but Kate wakes up with a blindfold on and then he ties her up and has he sexy way with her.
‘Stalker’ is very reluctant for kate to see who he is which keeps me totally hooked, desperately wanting to who if it her stepbrother or her jock high school friend. Which were given clues in this book
Again fantastic narration
Part Three in Dearest Stalker series by Lane Parker/J. S. Scott.
Kate finally meets Ian Blackwell her oldest stepbrother but when she meets him she finds out he’s badly scarred from a car accident that killed his father.
Kate starts a job at Blackwell and realises Ian is very lonely and alienates people around him.
Kate decides to question her ‘Stalker’ and finds out he’s known her from high school and he might have a light issue.
Ian has been trying to keep a distance from Katie.
One night at work Katie makes a comment about being a stepbrother and that’s when Ian snaps and makes it clear that he wants to have sex her but doesn’t see himself as a good guy so doesn’t wants a relationship.
In this part of the book Katie and Ian’s relationship changes and becomes sexual but the whole time Ian doesn’t think he’s good enough.
What really like about this part of the series of books is the insecurity of both Katie and Ian. Katie is self conscious about being a bigger curvy women and Ian has massive ptsd from car accident that scarred him badly but also killed his father.
FINALLY find out who is her secret ‘Stalker’
Part Four in Dearest Stalker series by Lane Parker/J. S. Scott.
So in the throws of passion Kate realises her ‘Stalker’ is Ian, her scarred ptsd stepbrother.
In this book lots of information comes to light. Kate’s step-family had been to her high school graduation and that’s when Ian started to obsess over Kate. she realises she has more family that she thought.
Ben also finds out that Kate had been getting Ian to come out of his shell and to slowly socialise.
Ian slowly tries to romance Kate after she cuts everything off because he’d lied to her about him being ‘stalker’ and after she found out who he was felt he was playing games but for Ian he was just scared she would accept a madly scarred loner.
Absolutely loved that all parts of the book was narrated with voices and not just them ready a chapter each but actually read female and male voices separately.
Loved the teaser with Ariel and Ben now I’ve got to find out if they’ve got a story.
Even though I thought the storyline was a bit weird in end I loved it.
Loved this collection, all the stories was was short and each left wanting more, Katie and Stalker/Ian will melt your heart, well worth the read! Can’t wait for Ben and Ariel’s story!!
This was a great box set! We have the scared / wounded hero who feels it his fought his father died. The young heroine who is all alone who is smart but is having a hard time keeping herself about water. There is a stalker who is wanting to protect her and keep her safe. This totals about 350 pages that I read in one sitting. I really need Ben’s story next!!!
Loved this box set…it clicked off all the romance buttons I had!
I have read each individual book separately.
Dearest Stalker Book 1
This book is very short, but very good. Katie just lost her father, and now has a stalker on her hands. The book leaves you hanging, and leaves you at the end of your seat trying to figure out who the stalker could be. This is definitely a must read.
Dearest Stalker Book 2
This book is very intense. Really trying h to figure things out,and it’s very difficult. This book still leaves you hanging. Definitely recommend you read this.
Part 3
This series is absolutely amazing. This is a short read, but we’ll worth it. I have read this book, and the first two all in one day. It was very hard to put it down. I highly recommend you read this.
Part 4
This is the last book in Dearest Stalker series. It was just amazing. I am definitely looking forward to Bend story in My Protector. This is a must read.
Kate Riley has, after graduating top of her class from her Florida High School, gone off to college in Massachusetts. She is grateful that her absentee father has finally stepped up and started paying for her tuition and living expenses. He wasn’t around for her mom and her growing up, having left and married into money. When he passes away four years later, Kate finds out that instead of her father doing it all for her, it was Stalker . A stranger who claims he just wants to take care of her…. until he wants more.
This story started out as a four-part installment series written by Lane Parker (aka J.S. Scott) so some of the chapter’s end in a cliffhanger fashion but luckily they are combined now, so no waiting.
Dearest Stalker is a unique take on the hidden pursuer trope. There are no creepy messages or delusional, photoshopped pictures. No terrified woman running for her life. Instead this more of a Cyrano de Bergerac type story where the go between are text messages and dark places. I did figure out who Stalker was pretty early on and while you would think that it would have made the story less interesting instead it made it more. Because it wasn’t some psycho allowed me to mentally encourage Kate to engage with him. Yeah, I know that doesn’t exactly make sense, but it’s a suspense book so I don’t want to give away too much.
Kate is an open book type of character. Deeply fractured because of a father who wanted nothing to do with her and the passing of her mom, whom she adored and was her only family member, Kate is adrift without an anchor. Her best friend, Ariel, also not in a place of stability, can offer her support but no real place to land. While she is smart and not naive the image she has of herself is less than glowing and based on her inner feelings versus reality.
As the story progresses there are instances that some readers will balk at. Moments of “why, why would you do that?” but they speak to Kate’s deep sense of loneliness. Ms. Parker’s story, at its heart, is about people finding their “person” not stalkers and danger. The Stalker part is what brings you in, the moving, emotional coming together of Kate and “Stalker” is what will keep you reading. A bit like offering you a cookie but then surprising you with a basket of brownies.
I was a little apprehensive about reading this book because of the title but being a huge fan of the author, I dove right in. I was not disappointed! I adored this whole collection and would recommend it to anyone who loves romance and beating the odds!!!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This series has been very enticing along the way. I had the misfortune of reading these as they were released, but then again I couldn’t wait for the next one to come out once I started. You my dears are lucky, the whole series is available for you to devour! And you will enjoy ever delish detail. When life threw her curves Kate was always able to survive, but after her father died and some details were revealed letting her know things weren’t always what they seem Kate was almost defeated. Then her stalker became a source of confusion and excitement and things go from bad, to worse to bad to good. Like I said life was confusing, after all it’s not everyday you fall for your stalker.
5 Stars
The boxset of Dearest Stalker contains four parts. Having this available in this form is great because you have all four parts of the book in one place. When I first learned of Dearest Stalker, only parts one and two were available so I decided to wait on the completion of the story. I am not a fan of cliffhangers and avoid them usually. I kept checking this author’s Goodreads page to keep on top of when the last two parts were released. And oh, what I happy day it was to get an email from Parker Lane’s PA who asked if I would be interested in reading the box set. Well…duh…no brainer there.
Each of the four parts is around 50 or so pages long. When I started reading, I couldn’t put it down. The pace of the story is pretty fast. In addition to that fact, I devoured the story so eager to get to the end. After the first part, the rest of the story was predictable with the one exception. I knew the s*it would hit the fan, but wasn’t sure how the author would take us there.
Kate has a stalker. She has had a stalker for the four years she was in college. Working on a degree, Kate wants to work in technical engineering. Her dream job is to one day work for the Blackwood company and be part of the technology that successfully creates robotic surgery. Kate’s stepbrothers are Blackwoods. Since she was estranged from her father, she does not know her stepbrothers very well. As the story progresses with each part, Kate becomes closer to the Blackwoods AND her stalker who is always there watching. I will tell you now that this is not a creepy stalker story. As I said earlier, I don’t want to ruin any of the story so you’ll just have to read it on your own. I definitely recommend this boxset.
The characters are wonderful. All of them. There is a complexity to both Kate and her stalker. Also, there is definitely character development. Also, this book is angsty and emotional. It’s sexy and intimate and you can’t help but to love everything about it. I really enjoyed this gem.
Even better……at the end of the book we get a glimpse of the next book which will feature Ben Blackwood and Kate’s friend, Ariel. Can’t wait for that one. At this point I’m not sure if it will be one book or in parts. If it is in parts, I guess I’ll just have to be patient, lol.
This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂
Wow….just wow. Not gonna lie, when I see the title like Stalker, I think hhhmmm…that could go a couple of different ways, but when it’s attached to JS Scott’s name…I also think….I would read anything she wrote, heck if it was about trash bags I would totally one click it. And this series/collection did not disappoint, ate their books up, so good. But I want to be very clear about this, there was NO kidnapping, NO forced anything, this was just a story of someone taking care of someone else….from a distance.
Starts out with Katie aka Kate at her graduation giving her valedictorian speech and that’s the moment her “stalker” noticed her and started taking care of her aka watching out for her and other thoughtful things. She had just lost her mom and her dad was pretty much worthless. She ends up gaining a family through her step mom, who was a total sweetheart, and her 2 step brothers. Kate’s dad ends up passing away a few years after her mom. When she is at the funeral gathering, at her stepmom’s, she is so distraught, and is pulled into the boathouse by a total stranger….let me just tell you, one of the hottest scenes I have ever read…which is saying something. These two are combustive with their heat level. After their hot af tryst, they go their separate ways. Kate lands her dream job with her step brothers, the one she is very close to and the reclusive one that she will end up working close with.
This was a safe read, yes….very, very safe. She was a virgin…until the whole boathouse scene…whew. Hot AF scenes with off the charts chemistry. No om or ow drama at all. An epilogue and hea. Great storyline and of course very well written. If you want to get caught up in another case of…just one more chapter, just one more chapter, then this is the series for you. Psst…next couple please….nowish. #SubtleLikeAMackTruck
The Dearest Stalker Boxset as all four part of the Dearest Stalker in one book. Even though the parts are all together I took a break after each part.
Part 1:
Katherine Riley is a smart hard working girl. She has no family. He mom passed away and her Dad really didn’t have anything to do with her. When her Dad passes away she really feels that she is alone in the world. Friends and family call her Katie but her stalker calls her Kate. She’s the underdog and I’m rooting for her to come out on top. Her stalker has been keeping tabs on her for a while. He seems nice, he just wants to make sure she is taking care off. Her stalker makes this an interesting read. We get his POV as well as Kate’s POV but just like Kate we don’t get to find out his identity. I’m hooked on this serial and can’t wait to see where this goes and who her stalker is.
Part 2:
So starting this one, I’m still right there with Katie trying to figure out who her stalker is. Ben is kind of the front runner but then we met Doug. Doug is someone who Katie went to school with. Could Doug be the stalker? As I read on Katie takes people of her list as possible stalker. At the end of Part 2 I’m thinking stalker is someone different then who I thought he was going into Part 2 but I’m sure Part 3 is going to change my idea.
Part 3:
Going into Part 3, I had an idea of who I thought stalker was and I was waiting for the author to throw me off and make me think differently. In Part three Katie kind of switches from trying to figure out who her stalker is to becoming friends with Ian. Ian is a troubled guy but he lets his walls down a little and eventual lets Katie in. Oh and is this one we fund out who stalker is.
Part 4:
I loved the last part of this story. With the stalker real identity out there and it’s time for both Katie and Stalker to come to terms with things. This part was the perfect ending to the story.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
4 1/2 Stars!
I am so excited that we could get this as a complete set. This is an amazing series with an amazing storyline and characters. What would you do if you had a stalker in your life? How would you react? How would you feel? This series has all those answers but so much more that you will never see coming. This is the first series I have read by Lane Parker and I absolutely loved it. Highly recommend.
Part 1:
Very interesting.Extremely fast paced. Definitely leaves you wanting more. I enjoyed reading the first part of this series. Definitely grabs your attention and has you on the edge of your seat . Can’t wait to read more.
Part 2:
Loving this series. Lord it has me on the edge of my seat waiting to see what is going to happen. Loving the stalker and now the brother. I just cant wait to read the next one and see what happens with Katie. Definately has me hooked on this series.
Part 3:
Loving this story. It just drags you in deeper and deeper. Wanting to know who Kate’s stalker is. Wanting to know if her and Ian are going to be happy. Kate finally meets her other step brother Ian and they hit it off. But is he her stalker? Love this series. I do need the next one .I don’t think I can wait until the next one comes out to see what happens. Suspense steamy amazing .
Part 4:
This is the fourth and final book in this series. I was patiently waiting for this one. This one picks up with Katie finding out that Ian and her stalker are the same. Wow this was written amazingly. I loved how these two work through this. I love Ian and Katie. These two together are absolutely amazing. This whole series was amazing. It ended perfectly. Highly recommend reading this series.
I have truly enjoyed every story in this collection.
Book 1 –
Wow, what a book this is. I can’t say I have read many stalker books but this one was absolutely worth reading. I have already grabbed the next two in this series to devour.
Kate has lost her mom, her no good dad and for some reason has become a little sister or more to her stepbrother.
She has also picked up a stalker, and now the big question is who is he?
Well, you won’t find out in this story although it has my mind going on who it may be…
Grab your copy I got mine when it was Free and so freaking glad I did.
Book 2 –
I devoured this second book and it picks us up right where book one left us. I am glad it did that but now to figure out this mystery.
Kate wants to know more about her stalker I mean hello they had sexy time so why not? But he isn’t giving up much of anything. He does, however, come in through the window and gives her yet again mind-blowing sexy time.
Who is he?
OMG… Can I please have more already.
Who is the stalker?
I am beginning to get an idea but not quite sure…
Book 3 –
Katie gets her wish, her dream job, and along with it comes the man she will work with… Ian Blackwood.
She still is thinking about her stalker, and why he won’t just open up about who he is…
And now she is falling hard for Mr. Cranky Pants himself.
What is a woman to do?
Well, we won’t know much til the next book haha…
I normally don’t like cliffhangers but I have read many shorts that get published fairly close to each other so it’s not too bad. And the story is well worth the five stars I am giving it.
Again I suggest you read the previous books before this one.
Book 4 –
In the previous story, Katie learns who her stalker is… Taken aback yes she is but will that stop this determined female who is so deeply in love now with her stalker that there is no turning back?
The author wraps up Katie and Ian’ story so nicely.
This couple completes each other in so many ways. Absolutely adored this couple.
Read to the end for a sneak peek at whose story is next. I am already excited…
I love this stalker bookset! Ian and Katie’s story is amazing. Ian has stalked Katie for a long time protecting her and helping her and Katie has no clue. Katie meets Ian one day he’s a mean grump and full of scars. But Katie has determination to get Ian to see more. But Katie still doesn’t know the truth. Will everything go down hill? I love stalker books and alpha men and this one definitely hits the spot! 5/5 stars
