An amazing rollercoaster read. Could not put it down until I had reached the very end. Well worth the read.
“Dear Anna, I wanted children. Does he tell you that? When you’re with him, is it all sex or does he mention the plans he had with his wife, with me? He promised me a more fulfilled life. Do you even bother to imagine me as a woman? Maybe even someone who could be your friend? I’m not a terrible person. I’m not entirely sure why he went off and found you. What kind of hold do you have? I’m dying to know.” -Medeia’s Journal
This book was a wonderful thriller with a woman set out on a path of revenge and to regain her freedom and the life she deserves. Medeia has been the perfect wife living by John’s rules and standards. She was there for John helped him keep his bloody secret and in return he gave Medeia a life away from her poverty past. The only problem now is Anna. John is soon plotting against Medeia with Anna. Only problem is Medeia is already several steps ahead of them. What will happen to John and his mistress Anna?.. I absolutely loved this story. This is the first domestic thriller I’ve read and I’m glad I did. From the cover to the blurb and with every page I couldn’t be happier. I loved Medeia and Jane’s friendship and that they are both strong women who took back their lives. This story was a page-turner and truly suspenseful.
This was a pager turner! The author did a great job of defining these three people involved in a love triangle. A controlling cheater, his mistress and a wife on the edge. I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop but this one fooled me. It was fairly straight forward while being a chilling portrayal of a woman in survival mode. Madeia is motivated by her past and when the true nature of her present reality is exposed it pushes her to revert to old behaviors. At first she is sympathetic but, wow, she really goes to a dark place. Not that it’s not warranted. I was cheering for her but later I was conflicted, not only about Madeia and her actions but also her husband, John and the horrible person he is, and his immoral mistress, Anna. John and Anna had few redeeming qualities but by the end my feelings mirrored Madeia’s. Did she go too far? The plot was solid with only a couple holes and the insertion of Jane and Samantha was a little too convenient for me but didn’t take away from the enjoyment of the story. I loved the mood of the story, the on-the-edge-of-my-seat quality and the shock value. The birthday party scene was fabulous! This is one I’ll think about for awhile. It’s my first read from this author and it was terrific. I can’t wait for her next one. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC.
This a dark twisty great psychological thriller. Media finds out her abusive husband is having an affair with his secretary and it fills her with so much hate and the thirst for revenge is strong. So she sets out to destroy her husband Johns and Anna’s life. This was a great read I would recommend.
I was given a copy for a honest review.
This book was nice but I would not go so far and call it “psychological thriller”,it’s more a book about domestic violence.
It was nicely written,it wasn’t too long, there was no dragging around,it was fast paced and straight on point. It’s told only from Media’s POV so you get really good insight into her mind. However, there was no suspension here because you already know how this thing will end before you reach the middle of the book.
Media has been married to John for ten years now.Coming from poor and unstable family, with John she found stability and happiness. From the very first page it’s obvious that she is not happy in her marriage and that her husband is abusing her. But,in Media’s mind all is fine up until the moment she caught’s her husband with another women. She is crushed and out for revenge. But there’s a problem.Media doesn’t want to go back to being poor again, that scare’s her more than anything else. But John has made her sing a prenup ensuring she will get nothing in case of divorce. On top of this,Media is very lonely, she doesn’t have friends who are not approved by John and he has forbid her to work and see her family.
John is a very typical abuser and psychopath. No one except Media knows this side of him.He is very controlling and domestic, always finding a way to make Media do his bidding. He is one of the main villain of this story.
Anna is the second main villain. She is perfect in a barbie-sort of way.Always looking pretty and happy, but in general she is very unhappy. She was abused as a kid, shooed by her family and she doesn’t really know how to do anything except to seduce rich man.Anna has a lot of problems that she never really looked into or try to solve.
What I loved about this book is a way in which Media has masterfully manipulated John and give him what he deserved.
But what I didn’t like is that author has mad Media very good and in turn give Anna all the bad.In reality Media is not a good person,if she was good then the whole revenge this wouldn’t exist.
I didn’t like the ending,Media didn’t got what she deserved and I didn’t like the fact that this book was so predictable.
However,if you want to read this I encourage you to do it.
I had noticed Dear Anna by Katie Blanchard out and about for a few days. While it sounded really good I just didn’t have the time to add another review to my calendar for mid-July. Then I saw the cover. I don’t know what it is about covers but they can really make or break a book. In this instance, it went from I just can’t too… I have to find a way to fit this in. And I did. It took me a day or so to get through the first 50%, which seems to be the typical thing for thrillers as of late. Most wait until that last 15% and then BOOM… they dump the load. Dear Anna wasn’t like that. The first half was slower as Miss Blanchard built the story up, built her characters. The last 50% I stayed up on a work night well into 2am finishing the book. That last half is a whirlwind.
I hadn’t read Katie Blanchard before Dear Anna. I do believe this is her debut thriller but she isn’t new to writing. That shows. Dear Anna is very well developed. Miss Blanchard wrote a book that made me cheer for the scorned women. I think most women have all been messed over at some point… I feel like this is will make some women smile at the sweet revenge… I know I did!!
I really wish that Dear Anna had turned to a dual POV when John woke u. I would have loved reading his thoughts and actions after. I’m not sure how that could have went down but it turning into a dual POV at that point would have made this book off the charts in my eyes… depending on the execution.
I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that… my opinions.
“He wanted me to have everything I desired back then, and I was so enamored with it that I didn’t realize I would be giving parts of my soul away as payment.”
Dear Anna was my first book by Katie Blanchard and I must admit I am pretty impressed. You would NEVER know this was her first taste of writing a physiological thriller. I loved everything about this story. Everything about this book captured my interest until the very end. Each page was a fast paced, and emotionally charged read. I could NOT devour the words fast enough. You are warned, once you start you can NOT stop. This story was everything it promised to be, thrilling, mind blowing and suspenseful. I could not get enough of the Fear Anna letters. They added a unique, haunted vibe that went perfectly with this story. I can NOT praise the author enough for such a twisted, edge of your seat plot. I am still reeling over that ending. Like really, I am speechless. This book took me places I never expected, but made me love every minute of it. Buckle up readers, Madeia definitely takes you on a wild ride of manipulation, you simply can NOT get enough of.
“Weakness is a filthy layer on my body that I am dying to shed.”
Medeia is a scorned wife with everything to lose, but everything to gain. Her character takes you on a emotionally charged ride that you can not get enough of. Her desire and need for revenge is down right captivating. Was her character crazy? Yes, but honestly that’s what made me like her Madeia the most. She gave up everything for her sorry husband John. He deserved what he got, and I would be lying if I didnt say I found myself rooting her character on. Madeia is hands down going down in my book of bad*ss heroines to read.
“What makes another so fascinating that they’re worth ripping your spouse’s heart out. Why is it worth dying for?”
*4 STARS*
Well earned for this heart pounding psychological thriller. If you are looking for a dark, twisted read to get your mind racing this story is for you! Dear Anna definitely made my list of top reads in 2019.
From page 1, this book was thrilling, exciting and intriguing. I truly enjoyed how we were reading a book within a book when the author had a chapter to Anna.
This author really knows how to keep a reader interested and I would enjoy reading anything from the author.
“Don’t be fooled by what you see. I’m not a dumb trophy wife”… one of this summer’s best revenge novels is soon to hit your shelf! When Medeia realizes she is trapped in a no good, stifling marriage, she takes her life into her own hands – even if her prenup states she is entitled to nothing in the event of a divorce. She has worked long and hard to be the wife John can display in front of his friends and employees – “the heels may hurt, but their red bottoms let the world know that you have it all.” Finding her husband deep in an affair with his secretary, Medeia takes to exercising at the local gym – meeting her new friend Jane. Jane and Medeia are soon to discover how much they truly have in common. Strong female bonds, manipulation, and a will to survive drive this story and keeps you turning the pages until the end. This debut psychological thriller is a quick read with storyline that will both anger you and find you battling your feelings on right and wrong until the end!

This is a tale of an abused and scorned woman. I love a story about revenge, seeing just how far someone will go to get back at someone they feel has done them wrong never ceases to amaze me. As soon as I saw this book I knew I had to read it. And sure enough Katie Banchard did not let me down ! She out did herself writing her first ever psychological thriller.
So right away in this fast paced novel, we learn Medeia’s husband is cheating on her with his secretary Anna. Her rich husband John is abusive and controling . She is not allowed to work or have friends. He isolates her from the world. He even makes her see a shrink and take meds. His goal is to make her think she is crazy so he can have her committed into an insane asylum . He is greedy and wants to make sure she gets none of his money. John however has no idea what it is like to have a woman scorned.
It is written from only one perspective, (Medeia’s) so it is very easy to follow. This was my first time reading a book by Katie Banchard . This fast paced, heart racing thriller will have you quickly flipping the pages to see what is going to happen next. Once you pick up Dear Anna you will not be able to put it down so don’t start it before you go to bed unless you want to be up all night. You will love and hate Medeia as you go with her on her journey to get revenge on Anna and her husband John. With vows broken and a prenup staring her in the face, Medeia refuses to go back to the shack of her childhood nightmares. Even if it means more bloodshed. The question is who’s blood will it be.
Will Medeia succeed in her plan for revenge before they can have her committed?
Is Medeia really sane ? Or is she insane as her husband keeps telling her ?
Not 1 but 2 people die in this book. One is murdered the other takes their own life . Is Medeia one of them ?
The Dear Anna letters through out the whole book was such a perfect touch. They really let you see into Medeia mind and give it kind of a creepy feel.
All of the characters are very well developed . Even the one friend Medeia made along the way. I hope this authors writes another book with these two women .
As always if you like the book you read please take the time to leave a review for the author in places like goodreads & Amazon. It does not have to be long. Just a few sentences saying you liked the book will do. Authors really appreciate every review they get ! Dear Anna goes on sale July 16.

Dear Anna by Katie Blanchard is a psychological thriller that will keep readers in suspense from page one. John is a master manipulator and control freak who plays mind games with his wife Medeia while trying to get her committed into a mental institution so he can be with Anna, his mistress. Medeia learns of the affair and goes all out for revenge.
Katie Blanchard has “wowed” us with the Audible version of “Dear Anna”.
Medeia being the “perfect wife” and John being the “not so perfect” husband weaved quite the story for us.
From the very first paragraph, I was totally hooked and could not stop listening.
The twists and turns throughout kept me guessing at what might happen to the characters. It was so suspenseful and thrilling it had me on the edge of my seat!
The narration in the book was fantastic !!! It brought the captivating and gripping story to life. Each character was truly memorable!
Katie Blanchard is definitely one of my newer favorite authors and I look forward to more of her books !!!!
I received this a copy of this audiobook from the author in exchange for fair and honest review.
Is it wrong that I cheered Medeia’s fight for freedom every step of the way? Is it wrong that I loved Jane so much for her supporting Medeia’s plans? Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned fits this awesome story. I ate these pages so fast that I didn’t even realize it was 3:30am when I closed the book with a slightly evil smile on my lips. Great read. Highly recommend.
Two days to read this book, definitely a five star read. What a ride in this book. John is rich and life for Medeia was great – nice house, lots of money, even a chef. But John was controlling her to the point she could not have friends, a job or her own opinion.
But the worst of it all is John was cheating on her. Medeia couldnt divorce him because of a prenup that would strip her of any money. And she wasnt going back to the poverty she came from. So she devises a plan to get rid of Anna and get the life she really deserves.
This page turner was great. Every chapter kept you wanting more. Definitely going to read her other book. #KindleUnlimited
Hell hath no fury like a scorned woman. When Medeia learns of her husband’s infidelity she’s hurt and sets a plan in motion. This story is just like a true crime show and had me eagerly turning the pages until the end. I was drawn in from the beginning and couldn’t put it down.
