Lydia Harris thinks her marriage to Dean has problems. When she finds a box of news clippings her husband took great pains to conceal, however, the problems go from disappointing to dangerous. The articles report about killings nation-wide… in cities where he has traveled. She doesn’t want to believe him capable of such violence, so she searches for clues to explain the hidden clippings.
As … clippings.
As the growing evidence points to his guilt, Dean starts to act like the loving husband he once was, confusing Lydia. She must look past her love for him to uncover the truth, whatever the cost. Or she could end up next on his list.
(This is a standalone from the Gone trilogy. You don’t need to read the trilogy to read Dean’s List.)

The overview of this book stated the reader did not have to have read the previous three books in order for this one to make sense. It is a stand alone. This was a great warning, because I do not have to read the previous three books in this series now. Nor any after this one. I finished the book more out of curiosity than an inability to put it down. What could have been a SUPER climax turned out to be pretty bland. A bunch of rich, pampered condominium women who panic over a broken nail was my reaction. Lydia is interesting, but I couldn’t get into her because she seemed to light-headed most of the book. We didn’t really learn a lot about Dean, and this would have made the book more rounded.
What would you do if you suspected that your husband was a serial killer? Lydia Harris thinks her marriage to Dean has problems. When she finds a box of news clippings her husband took great pains to conceal, however, the problems go from disappointing to dangerous. Great story! It will have you spooked!
I’m setting up this review a little differently because the bundle contains two books. Please note that I’ve real all of the Gone books in the series, and while these two are standalones and spinoffs, they contribute to a better understanding of these main characters.
Book #1 – Dean’s List
I really enjoyed this book A LOT! It is told through the perspective of Lydia, who is in a troubled marriage. As the husband and wife try to reconnect, Lydia makes discoveries that alarm her greatly about her husband. As she digs deeper, she uncovers coincidences that further increase her fears. She can’t trust anyone, even her “friends”. Unfortunately, her inquiries leave bread crumbs that lead directly to her. Watch out!
Good, suspenseful thriller
I really enjoyed the fast-paced plot built around a woman fearing the secrets her husband has been keeping. The suspense keeps building to a high action end.
Lydia’s comfortable suburban life crumbling apart thanks to a spilled perfume bottle gave good thrills as secrets kept tumbling out of the woodwork. Lydia is a bit naive and fumbles about a bit in her attempts to dig out the dirt on her husband’s suspicious activities. She is in turns super cautious about covering up her activities and then totally oblivious of the trails she’s leaving. I liked the realism of her mistakes as her panic and urgency leaves her vulnerable to discovery.
It’s a good standalone story. My only issues are with the sudden ending and the lack of complexity to the characters. I felt the denouement could have been longer and the characters, particularly Dean and Lydia, needed more backstory.
I read a complimentary copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
This book was impossible to put down! I had read a different view of Lydia in the “Gone Trilogy”. Being the “other woman” in these stories I did not particularly care for her. In this book it shows the true character of her as a person and the one word that comes to mind as way of description is WOW!!! Every time more is revealed of her I was awed with what she has gone through & the way she deals with it all! I don’t want to give away the story line with too many specifics. I can say I was kept on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next. Her strength & resilience, in spite of the increasing danger she put herself in to find answers was intense! I recommend this to anyone who likes intense thrillers, you will not be disappointed!! Great read!!!
I did like this book and the plot! But I didn’t think Dean was that scary, I think a little more insight to his history or the things he did would have been a good back story for me to consider a threatening character. I have read other books by this author and will continue reading them! Good stories lines and plots to keep you hooked and the pages turning!
I enjoyed this book but wouldn’t call it a ‘page-turner.’ There was some suspense but it wasn’t gripping. A good, quick, easy read.
Predictable, but interesting enough to want to read to the end.
There was no mystery in this book and limited character development. After reading, you were left wondering ‘”what was the point?’
Best book I’d read since the Gone Trilogy. By the same author, Ms. Claflin. Both a MUST read.
This book is hard to review. First, I felt like I entered the book in the middle. There was no introduction to the characters or storyline-just wham! I felt like I was missing part of the book. Second, the main character bounced around wildly and I had enough trouble that I’d have to reread parts. Third, the ebook I read was very poorly edited. Words were left out. Sentences weren’t always clear. It would go a page or more and you didn’t know who was speaking. Just confusing. The theme of the book was unique and interesting, just not played out as well as it could have been.
Fast read
Interesting but predictable.
The ending was very blah compared to the rest of the book, but overall it was a good read!
You would think a story about a wife who suspects her husband of being a serial killer would be suspenseful and a page turner. You would be wrong about this one. The serial killer story is a small part of this book – mainly a story about a bunch of women in their 30’s who talk and act like teenagers. Unlikable characters and stupid story line.
I thought it was just ok. It was kinda predictable
I enjoyed this book, would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a great read. Check it out and you’ll see what I mean
Gone – Another well written, suspense filled novel about a kidnapping of a 15-year-old girl and the efforts that went into the search for her. From the beginning of the book, the words just flowed quickly and the reader just can’t put down the book on this horrible topic. Unfortunately, there’s two more books before the end of the story.

Dean’s List – Dean’s List – A well written, suspense story about Lydia and Dean, two characters from another novel Gone, and is set a year later. There is adultery, a control freak, a possible serial killer and the lives a gaggle of friends share facing intrigue and suspense. Most of the characters are from the Gone Trilogy neighborhood. I contacted the author to review her book.
