What a fantastic start to this series! Romantic suspense with a touch of something else, genetic engineering.
Ryker and his brothers have an uncanny knack for finding things that are lost, which leads them to open up the Lost Bastards Investigative Agency. Ryker has had a rough life, a terrible childhood, and he has the nightmares and scars to prove it. Zara is a paralegal that thought she was just having a good time with Ryker….until everything changes. Now she is fighting for her life and freedom and the Lost Bastards, and Ryker are the only ones that can help.
I enjoyed the twists and turns that always kept me guessing. The characters played their parts spectacularly and I enjoyed learning about these 3 lost boys, though it broke my heart, I feel some revenge coming soon.
This book will keep you guessing all the way until the end and I am thankful that this series is already written because i wouldn’t have the patience to wait to read the next book. I am heading into book two now. If you are a fan of romantic suspense with a twist…this is going to be the book for you!
Gripped me from the start and held me tight until the end, just like Ryker holds Zara.
A new action-packed and intense series from a favorite author and I just had to dive right in head first to enjoy it. If you like Sins Brothers series, this new spin-off is going to make you sigh with joy because it keeps all that brotherly camaraderie, alpha male, lethal and dangerous, smoldering and then sizzling goodness rolling on forward.
This is a versatile spin-off in ways since much of the story is an introduction to a new set of brothers and their situation. But that said, while the story unwinds, the savvy Sins Brothers’ fan will start to see more and more how it ties in to the earlier story and in the end, the tie is made blatantly obvious. So while I think new readers can get away with jumping in here, I would highly recommend starting with the earlier series so a lot of the references and late action make more sense and you get more out of it.
The story opens with the introduction to dark, intense and brooding Ryker Jones realizing that he has come to a place where his past, his present, and his future are all on a collision course. He and his blood brothers, Heath and Denver, that found each other in the foster care system run an investigation agency specifying in locating lost people. They are partnering with the FBI on a serial killer case, dodging the pursuit of a powerful and deadly man from their past, and trying to stay under the radar as they look for the answers to their own pasts and the odd gifts they all possess.
Zara Remington knows that her occasional lover is a bad boy with a potentially illegal past. She knows the score that its only brief sexual encounters with the dominant, intense Ryker. But then things start to change when she is in danger and only Ryker can keep her safe. She realizes she wants more and that he will probably never be able to give it to her- only he does. One secret at a time tumbles out. Can she accept the man he is and the crazy life he really leads? But accepting Ryker is only the half of it when both of them bring deadly situations to each other.
I was plunged in from the beginning with this story. There is so much going on- serial killer, a divorce case gone deadly, and dark and dangerous people from the past still out to get them- and then there is the tempestuous romance. It pull the reader so many directions and wonder how the hero and heroine and the others will ever survive it.
I loved the band of brothers making a family in their painful and lonely shared past. The set up of the investigative firm and their mysterious gifts along with the need to figure out where they came from was good stuff as well. The action and suspense were great though, wow, it seemed so much at times.
The romance and romantic pair was touch and go for me. I do like them both and actually like them together, but there were things that got me mumbling. Ryker could be a neanderthal and Zara had abandonment issues that she took out on Ryker. Fortunately, between bouts of angry sex or passionate moments, they worked through it. I will say that Zara was no doormat and didn’t take Ryker’s bossiness without dishing it right back at him and he admired her for it even while being a wicked tormentor in the bedroom. I can’t see this pair ever settling into a gentle routine.
It was a blockbuster first in series start returning to the super-soldier Sins Brothers’ world and I am beyond eager to see what comes next with Heath and Denver’s stories. This action-packed, sizzling romantic suspense with a touch of sci-fi is one I can easily recommended to others.
This is a great new series, which interconnects with the Sin Brothers series brilliantly.
These Blood Brothers don’t share blood in the typical sense but having met each other whilst they were children at an orphanage (and having some weirda&& experiments done on them) these three brothers are closer than kin. They may be hiding out from their long-time nemesis but they are doing good, the only way they know how, whilst searching for their own answers.
They have the BEST named PI company ever! Now relocated to rural Wyoming and on the trail of a serial killer they’ve managed to put down roots without thinking about it.
Zara loves her life in Cisco, Wyoming. She’s a Paralegal but she has found herself on the wrong side of her friend’s divorce case. How can she aid her friend without opening herself to breaking her oath of office?
Ryker has been seeing Zara as FWB for a while now. But he’s slowly coming to the realisation that she means much more to him. He just doesn’t want to label it and she seems to be even more cagey about taking things to the next level than him!
Heath, Ryker and Denver aren’t just damn good investigators – they all have something a little extra, something that gives them the edge. Something that Zara may just need as danger seems to be circling her and she can’t see a way out.
Brilliant read! I loved the blend of romantic suspense and scifi/scientific romance elements. Ryker tries too hard to be the emotionless alpha and fails miserably. He may not be gushy and so forth but his actions speak louder than words and they say A LOT. Heath and Denver – well they’re just all sorts of yummy goodness and I can’t wait to find out more. Greg – OMG he is such a precocious kid. ut after what he’s been through he’s not really been a kid in a long time, if ever.
Loved the way that the Sin Brothers and Blood Brothers dovetail together, with all the “bloodlines” mixing up.
This is a well-written, entertaining, steamy, romantic suspense novel. It has likable, engaging characters, a strong female protagonist, a hot hero, intrigue, action, and Ms. Zanetti’s classic wit and humor. This is the first entry in the Blood Brothers series and is a continuation of the Sin Brothers series. It can be enjoyed without reading the Sin Brothers series first. I am looking forward to reading the Sin Bothers series and the other entries in the Blood Brothers series with great anticipation.
This book was Deadly to my heart
I absolutely love Rebecca’s Protectors series, so when I got some extra money from my birthday I did what any sane person would…..I bought some books
I did not want to put this book downIt is action packed from the beginning to the end but it also had so many situations going on in the background that I feel like I’ve encountered three or more stories in one go and my emotions are all over the place, in a great way Loved Ryker and Zara and I can’t wait to dive in and read Heath and Denver’s stories next
Rebecca Zanetti reaffirms once again what an amazingly talented author she is. Being a long-time fan of the author, I devour her books fast and frequently. When this new series was announced as a spin-off of the Sins Brothers series, I must confess I was a little concerned. The Sins Brothers books were brilliantly crafted and when the series “finished”, I wasn’t sure how Rebecca could top it. I should NEVER have doubted her. Rebecca Zanetti delivers a fast-paced suspenseful story full of new characters, settings and villains but with the same intensity and excitement she brings to all her books.
DEADLY SILENCE is an amazing story full of loss, and strength, and family…and yes, some hot & steamy chemistry. But it’s so much more than “just a story.” It’s about three men on a mission to find missing or lost people, as well as finding answers for themselves. It’s about a woman who loves her friend so much, she’d put herself in harm’s way to save that friend, at all costs. It’s about finding a connection with an unlikely person and then realizing you’re more alike than you think. And that’s just in the first few chapters!
I had a vested interest in each and every person in the book. I was emotionally drained and refilled as well as entertained, disgusted and intrigued. I laughed and grieved with people in the book. I can’t call them characters, because they were so much more than that. And then it felt like coming home again, when a few familiar faces joined up later in the book.
Riker and his brothers Heath and Denver are ultimate alpha males deeply ingrained with loyalty, protectiveness and a fierce sense of duty. A duty they take very seriously: finding the lost. Being “lost” boys themselves, as it were, each man is driven to bring hope to the hopeless while in search of answers to their own questions. They are bound together by circumstance. They are a family forged in the fires of torment, pain, affliction…and blood.
Rebecca sure knows how to write alpha males but what really clenched the story for me was Zara. She is a strong, stubborn woman with a heart as big as the sky. I respected and admired her very much. I though she and Ryker paired well together and their chemistry was off the charts!
What I really loved about the book was that with all the craziness going on here, the heart of the story is the family aspect. Loyalty, honor, protectiveness and sacrifice are the foundation of this family. Having people that will have your back no matter what as well as kick you in the ass when you need it are the epitome of this family’s values.
And it just wouldn’t be a Rebecca Zanetti book without some twists and surprises along the way! I never saw them coming!
DEADLY SILENCE is everything you want in your romantic suspense novel and a whole lot more! I highly encourage you to purchase, borrow or go to your local library and check out this book today!

Review:
I was very excited to start this book. It is a spin off of the Sin Brothers series, which I love so much. It is a standalone series but I would recommend reading the Sin Brother series before had. Lots of things will make more sense if you do.
What is this book about:
This book is about Ryker. He is a pure, hard ass Alpha male. He is a private investigator. Him and his two brothers, Heath and Denver, run an investigating company called Lost Bastards, that focuses on finding the lost.
Denver, Ryker and Heath aren’t biological brothers but the pain they suffered at the (orphan) boy home made them brothers in anyway that counts.
Ryker met Zara, who is a paralegal, on a case and they hit it off. Anytime he was in town they’d hook up and have fun together.
One particular murder case brings Ryker back in town and this time it’s for a longer period of time.
Having a serial killer on the loose isn’t the only issue in town. Zara’s friend Julie is in the middle of a nasty deforce, which puts Zara in a tight spot as her company is representing Julie’s husband. But Zara is willing to help Julie in anyway she can but unfortunately it’s attracting attention from the wrong kind of people.
Not only that, Ryker has a past he spend a long time trying to get away from and it looks like his past might be catching up to him.
So as you can see both Ryker and Zara have enough going on while trying to figure out what they want from each other. Keep it casual like they have been or try for more?
What did I like about this book:
I loved being back into the Sin Brother world. Rebecca knows how to create a complex and intreging world and story line. She kept us guessing which kept us on our toes and I liked that.
I found the underlying story very interesting and intriguing, it kept me wanting to know more.
I like Ryker but he needs to town his alphaness down outside of the bedroom. His “it’s my way and only my way” ticked me off a bit since it showed that he didn’t really respect Zara and her wishes. He almost bullied her into doing what he wanted to do instead of discussing it. It almost felt like he thinks woman, or just Zara, was or is incapable of doing anything for herself, like we or she is a delicate flower. I liked his protectiveness and his dominating side in the bedroom but he needs to learn how to communicate and show some respect to someone else’s wishes even if he disagrees.
I like how Ryker is with his brothers. It’s clear that he loves them and would do anything for them and vice versa.
I like Zara, she is smart and brave. She is also very caring and loving. She does have some spunk but I would have loved to see her stand her ground more. She would stand up to Ryker and tell him to back off but she caved to his wishes everytime. Which show’s Ryker that he’ll get his way anyway and doesn’t teach him to respect her wishes.
Overall I really liked this book and I can’t wait to read about Heath and Denver!
Rating:
4 I really liked it Stars
I’m not sure how she does it, but Ms. Zanetti sucks you right in. A great start to another series.
Often when I read a new author, I don’t remember how I came across the author. Unless it’s an ARC through Net Galley, usually I’m not good at remembering where I heard about a book. For once, I remember! I heard about this author through another author. Nicole Edwards recommended this author in one of her newsletters. The reason this is somewhat important is if I like a recommendation from someone I know to trust them next time I see them recommend something. Anyway, I really enjoyed this book so will definitely be putting more of Nicole Edwards’ suggestions on my TBR list!
This story pulled me in from the very beginning. I was intrigued by Ryker and his brothers and wanted to know more about what happened to them as kids. Ryker as an adult is also intriguing, but for all new reasons. He can sure get a girl’s pulse racing! Rough, tough, handsome, built with a sweetness he tries to keep hidden. His brothers know he’s smitten since he’s let Zara see that side of him.
Zara is a strong and independent woman with a very soft heart. Maybe too soft. She cares about those around her and wants to make everyone’s life better. Sometimes she cares a bit too much and lets her heart overtake her head. But that’s part of what makes her so wonderful.
There is almost non-stop action in this story and it’s really hard to get a handle on who’s in trouble and what the source of that trouble truly is, so it kept me on the edge of my seat. Which is great. Unfortunately, my picky brain noticed the timeline/continuity issues. And as always, when they’d crop up it would take me out of the story while my brain ticked back to ponder if I was remembering things incorrectly. Oddly, the author also started overusing one particular word toward the end of the story. I’m not going to tell you what that word is because maybe you won’t notice and it was just my strange brain that noticed. It wasn’t enough to ruin the story for me and I want you to read this book with fresh eyes.
So yes, there were a few issues I had with the story. But those issues had to do more with editing than anything else. The storyline and characters are sensational and I’m hoping to get my hands on the books from this author’s Sin Brothers series, of which this is a spin-off it seems. (Don’t worry, I didn’t feel like there were any story holes by not reading those first.) I’m already on a waiting list for the next two stories from this series.

In an attempt to secretly help her friend out of a very public and messy divorce Paralegal Zara Remington finds herself in a little trouble of her own, someone has found out what she is doing and they want her stopped at all costs. Now with her life is in danger, she must rely on a certain sexy private investigator named Ryker, and his brothers to keep her safe… but unfortunately for her they seem to be in a little trouble of their own. Now she finds herself thrust into a whole new world of danger, one that is not only revealing secrets about Ryker that she never saw coming, and that could alter the budding relationship she has with him!
Ryker is good at what he does, and goes above and beyond to protect his clients, but when he loses a client he takes it really hard and he sets out to get exact revenge… which has him hunting down a known serial killer. Between him and his brothers he is sure that they can catch the killer and set things straight, but unfortunately for them they also have a dangerous past they are running from and it is starting to close in on them too. Then if that wasn’t enough to handle, Ryker’s lover Zara finds herself in a bit of trouble too, and Ryker can’t help but get involved… now he is forced to fight the evil lurking from every corner and it’s becoming harder and harder for good to prevail this time around!
The suspenseful and sexy read grabbed my attention from the very first paragraph and held on tight until the last page was swiped… WOW what a read!! Just when I thought I had a handle on what was going on, then a new unexpected development would come along, and it would have me hooked all over again! These brothers are seriously something else, they are highly skilled, sexy as hell, alpha to the bone, and will go above and beyond to protect those they care about… I mean seriously what more could you want in a character!!! Every now and then I like to settle down with a good romantic suspense story that amps up my heart rate, and keeps me teetering on the edge of my seat, and after reading this story I think I may just have found a new “go-to” author for that!!
Highly recommend this one, it had everything you could possibly want in a story; thrilling suspense, heart-pounding action, well crafted characters with smoldering chemistry, and plenty of toe curling romance to boot!! Highly recommend it!!
