Holy smokes, that was intense – especially the ending. I started this series on the 3rd book in, then HAD to go back to the beginning, which is Beckett’s story. There are all these O’Halleran men (brothers) each one more gorgeous than the next. Gwen didn’t stand a chance. Pretty sure any available woman would want to be part of that family.
Loads of action, lots of ramped up suspense, a truly vile villain – and his runner up for creep of the year – plus super smart and capable secondary hunks who will, I’m quite sure, be heroes in this series. Military respect, family value, love that sticks and lasts forever… this book had it all.
Beck is H.O.T!
I’m a fan of series based around a military unit, or group of friends, with each book telling one member’s story. TJ Logan has definitely started something here.
Deadly Secret by T.J. Logan
This romantic suspense story will keep you up late reading. The connection between Gwen and Beck is almost immediate. The first time Beck laid eyes on Gwen, he knew she was going to be special. Both are carrying grief from their past. Both need to get past it so it doesn’t cloud their ability to focus on the present.
The characters are well developed. The book is easy to read. It is part of a series. I look forward to the next one. This was my first book by T.J. Logan, but definitely not my last.
Awesome story
I really gave this 4.5 STARS! It’s a great debut novel by new author T.J. Logan.
This is my first read from this author and I enjoyed very much. I loved Beck and Gwen. They were perfect for each other. I can’t wait to read Caleb’s book.
I liked how the book started out. It gave the book a different slant knowing right off the bat the Deputy Director Barlow is a scumbag. What added to the difference was that many within the agency KNEW it but didn’t have the proof yet to do anything about it.
I also liked the descriptive flow of the author’s writing. Pulls you in without being described in a way that adds too many excess details. It gives you more of the feel of things. Another way that I can explain that is when Gwen meets Nikolai Radoslav. Even before she shook hands with him I already wanted to wipe my hands off. I think I might have beat Gwen’s feelings when it came to that just before she actually did wipe her hand off. The evil just rolled off him. And the writer made me feel that!!!
Gwen might be tiny, with a kind heart but I liked how Beck recognized that she was like a adorable little Tasmanian devil when she got fired up.
Beck was such a good main character and I liked both of them. I thought that they were well drawn.
There is humor in this story too. One of my favorite ones has to be Gwen making sandwiches when she is mad!
Caleb came alongside his brother, Beck to help protect Gwen. He made a really good addition to the story. Beck has a really large family who are really tight and I can see some more stories coming up about them. Sounds like a great idea.
There is plenty of action in this book and the suspense level remains high as does the tender romance. The tension of knowing that Radoslav ws going to move against Gwen but not knowing when or how? You could almost feel it just hovering there. The twists when they come are really good and the Epilogue was a nice touch.
There is a sneak peek into Deadly Discipline which features Caleb, and his new K-9 Jake. It looks interesting.
On a side note, you know I think book covers can make a difference. This one caused me to stop and take deeper look at this book. I read the book information and that was it. I wanted to read it.
“I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.”
This was a great thriller with romance and suspense mixed with a fast pace, enjoyable characters not just Beck and Gwen but other family members we meet that to want to know more about and hopefully do in the coming books! This has a great balance of everything and you get pulled into the story quickly and are there until the end so get settled in as you aren’t moving until the end!

The first book in the O’Halleran Security International series and I know I want to read the rest of this series. That was one very evil man! This is F.B.I. Special Agent Beckett O’Halleran and Gwendolyn Tamberley’s story of suspense, drama, danger, evil, a villain closer than Beck knows, abduction, and romance. I recommend this book. Beckett is a former FBI agent that is fed up with red tape, corruption and criminals getting off free. He resigns his position and begins watching the man who is responsible foe torturing and killing his partner. Gwen is a social worker who has been sheltered by an over protective paranoid mother. When her mother dies, Gwen decided to open up a community center in her low income neighborhood. Expecting a donation to the center, Gwen meets with a man high up in the Russian mafia. Unbeknownst to her, she is sent to be sold to the Russian for his human trafficking ring. This happens to be the same man that Beckett has been watching. Once Beckett, learns of the Russians intentions, he makes it his business to stay close to Gwen to learn more and protect her.
Great action packed book! Logan creates a story that has plot twists and turns with well developed characters. Her characters are likable and have depth. I love Beckett’s conviction to do what is right and not bend to the corrupt bureaucracy. I also really like the fact that although Gwen has been sheltered, she is still street smart and very intelligent. Beckett and his brother’s, who also in some sort of law enforcement, are very close and help one another with whatever is needed. Especially when it comes to keeping their loved ones safe.
