Tory Richards returns to North Carolina to help her mother set up a B&B, never expecting to stumble across several murder victims, fall in love, or get abducted by human traffickers.Fortunately, when she’s run off the road on her way into town, Dave Miller, who is working undercover on the task force for human trafficking, comes to her aid. She blows off the near fatal accident as just … just that–an accident–but she rethinks her position once events escalate and the number of murder victims increase.
She’s being set up as a suspect in four murders and someone, for some reason, is trying to kill Tory. As Dave protects her he falls more deeply for Tory and wonders how he’ll tell her who he is and what he does? When she learns the truth will she ever trust him again, especially with her heart?
Truth becomes a moot point when Tory is abducted and everything points to the group of human traffickers Dave’s had under surveillance. He calls in the task force, but will they reach Tory before she’s sold as a sex slave?

Disappointing

As with the first book in the series, the plot of the story holds unfulfilled promise. With more research and more time spent on character building this could have been a really good book and a really good series. Instead, the story ask the reader to suspend too much belief, especially if the readers has any working knowledge of the subject matter. The book is disappointing, which in itself is disappointing as the writer has a nice, easy writing style that keeps the story flowing. Unfortunately her skill isn’t enough to take this book above 2 stars.

Our heroine is traveling to help out her mother when she gets in an accident only to be saved by an undercover cop. When things go sideways, he is there but can he afford to help her if it costs him his cover?
This is book two of the series, but it is written as a standalone. No prior reading is required.
This is a romantic suspense story with some intrigue, action and romance in the mix. I read and enjoyed the first book, even though it had some issues, but this one is solid. The writing is good and the plot has some nice twists and turns to it that made for a nice and intense story. I also rather liked our characters as they were well developed and had good chemistry, even when they had other things on their minds. Overall, a step up from the last book which made this a highly enjoyable read.
Highly recommended.

Compared to book one, the writing has improved ten fold. The story flows a lot smoother and sounds better when read aloud, however it’s no less as wonderful plot wise as the first book.
This book continues working with a very sensitive topics of sex trafficking and kidnapping, but Ms. Confer does a decent job of bringing these topics a somewhat lighter side than what they truly are while still trying to portray the absolute seriousness of them.
I really am looking forward to seeing what the next book has to bring us in the series.

This is the story of Tory and Dave. She’s home in North Carolina to help her mom get her B&B started. While driving there she gets into a bad accident and Dave is driving behind her stops to help. There’s an immediate attraction but bad things happen wherever Tory goes. I enjoyed the mystery, suspense, and romance. I received an arc of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Deadly Revenge is the second book in the Deadly series and is a great romantic suspense story.
This story is well written, compelling, and involves human trafficking and murder. There is suspense, drama, intrigue, a stalker, twists and turns, and romance. The characters are well developed, intelligent, and have amazing chemistry together.

Tory comes home to help her mother and sister get their mom B & B started. As she comes into town she is run off the road. Dave is behind her and stops to assist her. The two of them start to get know each other and people start dying wherever Tory goes. Who is responsible? Is Tory in danger? Can Dave help figure out what’s going on? A fantastic who done it. Didn’t see the end coming. Keeps you on the edge of you seat.

This book is about a young woman named Tory who has returned home to help her mother set up a B&B in NC. On the way she has a bad car accident and is helped by a man named Dave, who works undercover for an organization which fights against sex trafficking. His current assignment is to try to capture the leaders of the sex trafficking ring. He and Tory are very attracted to each other, but Tory has to resolve a situation – she left a man named Matt at the altar two years before because of his cheating ways, and hasn’t seen him since to have closure on the relationship. While she is getting to know Dave and ending her relationship with Matt, there seems to be someone stalking and endangering her. I like how the author builds suspense by writing the culprit’s thoughts in italics, so the reader knows what’s being thought and/or planned. And bad things start to happen – attacks, shootings, her house is ransacked, and then she even gets kidnapped! But who is responsible, and what is the motive? It’s very suspenseful until the dramatic conclusion, so I highly recommend this book!
