Of course, I loved Deadly Rescue! Not only was it a nonstop adventure, but I got to spend time with many of my old friends. I adore Misty Evans’s characters and the cooperation between Misty Evans and Amy Manemann is seamless! Coop and Celina are the featured couple, and those two are so hot. Non-stop action, the wonderful characters, and their humorous by-play where only part of what made this book a real blast!
Representatives from law enforcement as well as emergency service personnel are called together for a drill involving a major earthquake and a dirty bomb. Nathan isn’t happy having leave a very pregnant Sophie alone at the hotel, but the doctor doesn’t think the twins will be born for a couple of weeks. He warns the couple the babies could arrive any time now but the couple clings to that two-week window and Sophie insists on making the trip. You would think that by now, Coop would have learned to trust Celina’s instincts but there he has a little too much testosterone to always accept that she is as strong in her way as he is in his. He does try. The title says this book is a novella but I swear I just spent a lifetime sweating through danger with these guys.
I was thrilled to receive an ARC of Deadly Rescue but I loved it so much that I have ordered a personal copy. Oh, friends, you are going to be hearing about this book!
I love this book and how it ties up some of those loose ends that have had me guessing since one of the last books in this series came out. This book is short but full of action and suspense and love.
Members of Coopers team have gathered in California for speical training in the handling of a dirty bomb involving radioactive or biological materials. Celina and Cooper have left their daughter Via with Celina’s parents something they have not done before now which is making them nervous. Meeting up with their team and other friends and being able to relax a little before the training starts is worth a little nervousness.
The training session turns in to more of a real life situation when a real terrorist shows up. Things go from bad to worse when a pregnant Sophie is trapped on the fourth floor of the hotel. Can the team reach her before something worse happens?
Loved all the action in this one. As always the characters and plot and scenes are well written and you get pulled right in.
(I received and advanced readers copy in exchange for an honest review.)
4.5 Stars
I love this series and I love when there are novellas because it just adds to the series. We get to see previous characters find themselves in some interesting situations and this book is no different. The training weekend this group planned doesn’t go off as planned. It gives you suspense that leaves you on the edge of your seat, but also see the group do what they do best. Plus there is one event in this book shows the closeness and bound of the characters. This is a great addition to the series and I’m crossing my fingers hoping set up a book to come.
Celina and Cooper’s romantic getaway is spoiled by a terror attack. What was scheduled to be a training session has become a real terror attack. Who is responsible? I enjoyed this exciting and suspenseful novella. It’s filled with familiar characters that I cared about. I loved the dialogue. It was sexy and sassy. I was surprised how quickly this happy gathering of friends and coworkers changed into a nightmare. Misty Evans wrote an exciting romantic suspense novella that pulled me in. I could imagine how chaotic the scene was, but this group knows how to handle danger. I just wasn’t sure how they would take care of a very pregnant Sophie in the midst of the chaos. I can’t wait for the next adventure involving the SCVC Taskforce.
I received a copy of this novella which I voluntarily read and reviewed. My comments are my honest opinion.
It’s always fun to get a glimpse into the lives of characters that you have come to know through a series, and Deadly Rescue was a fun way to catch up with the SCVC Taskforce members and some of their extended professional family. Filled with action and heart, this was a fun read that had me turning the pages and reminded me why I’m always excited when a new Misty Evans book is being released.
The story focuses on Celina and Cooper, and watching the over-the-top alpha male Cooper deal with being kept in check by his equally strong wife Celina is always fun. There were also several other story lines that brought more heart into this one – a blossoming romance and a baby that decided to make an appearance – and kept me turning pages to see how things would turn out.
The authors do a nice job writing together with one voice and crafting a quality story in a short amount of pages. This was a solid what I would call “in-between” story that just makes me look forward to the next full-length book in this series, which is the main reason for only three stars on this one since there really isn’t time to get all the full amount of feels of action and heart that a full-length book can give.
If you are looking for a quick read with lots of action, great characters, wonderful dialogue, and a whole bunch of heart, then pick this one up…but be warned… you will probably find yourself wanting to go back and start the series from the beginning to meet all the wonderful characters in this series!
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Deadly Rescue (SCVC Taskforce Series, Book 10)
Misty Evans and Amy Manemann
Another intriguing story in the SCVC series that has you not wanting to put it down until the end.
Loved it continued the stories of previous heroes and heroines with a hint of another romance.
Another in the series.
Absolutely could not put this book down. It started right off with alpha action and continued straight thru. Throw in a little of the alpha male making sure their women were OK as well as helping bring babies into this world, total swoon-worthy.
Deadly Rescue by Misty Evans and Amy Manemann is book ten in the SCVC Taskforce series that pulled me right into the story from the first page. It was so much fun to see some of my favorites from the previous books in the series make appearances. This may be a novella but it was completely captivating.
Ms. Evans and Ms. Manemann’s writing quickly set the scene for what turned from a training exercise into the real thing. Thanks to Celina’s intuition Cooper and her are on the case immediately. A plot that sped along filled with tension and suspense as Celina and Cooper raced to provide help where it was needed and to find the culprit. I hope that Polly and Leo get their own book as now I’m very curious about them.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. All of the above opinions are my own.
This novella is a good addition to the SCVC series. Works well as a stand alone, but your reading experienced will be enriched if you have already “met” the characters that make up this task force.
Some of the SCVC members have made the weekend of training for potential disaster, into a romantic getaway. Little did they know that in the midst of the training, a real threat occurs putting everyone in danger.
From the first page, the plot is engaging and as always, the authors give us well developed characters. I truly appreciate that the female characters are strong women and the men that love them, though very alpha males, are softies when it comes to those they love.
A well written novella, something that few authors can accomplish in just a few pages.
I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
