the fourth book in the series, they just keep getting better. i love the insights into daily life in the era. the murders themselves aren’t terribly hard to figure out but there is always so much more going on in the background than is first apparent. isn’t life like that? more complicated than just one person being selfish.
Ms. Locke continues to add members to the vibrant cast of characters in this series. I can’t wait to continue my journey in this world.
One thing i really appreciated about this particular book in the series is that she refrained from descriptions of the characters’ lustful feelings about each other.
Interesting time period.
Charming, interesting plots an I liked the characters Very Much. I have enjoyed the whole series I hav read.
It was a cute, light read
I like this series. Light reading with good characters that are easy to get to know and like.
I like the characters and story
Unique characters. Although interconnected, they all have their own unique perspective on everything they encounter.
I love this series!
Plucky women and honorable men make these period pieces entertaining and fun.
I have read several books in this series and have enjoyed them all. The author does take a great deal of time to build her characters and bring in the previous events that bring continuity to the series. Well written period-set murder novels.
I love reading about the Victorian age in England. This book had a great main character who uses her skills or lack of to investigate murders. If you like murder mysteries then you’ll want to read this book!
I’d like to see expansion of the environment but I always enjoy a good story. For me, this is a comfort story; I know her stories are interesting.
I always enjoy Louisa Locke’s books, San Francisco must have been a very interesting city at that time.
I am hooked on this author now. She writes an easy, interesting style. She is particularly good at placing the reader right there on scene. I was caught up in time and place.
The story is an interesting light mystery. I enjoyed the development of the characters. Gods easy read!
Good historical research- great reading!
The author just threw in too many characters at once. I had to keep looking back to see who they were and why they were in the story. They were really superflous . There was way too much detail about printing presses and how they worked. It almost gets in the way of the story. Almost annoying. The story line was good and what kept me reading.
I enjoyed this book so much, I bought the other books in the series. Very fun to read.
Love this entire series. I especially enjoy the historical aspects of the books and find all of the characters apealing. This book is a good mystery and well written. I’m looking forward to reading more by this author.
An enjoyable, not too demanding, summer read.
Deadly Proof is number 4 in the M. Louisa Locke Victorian San Francisco mystery series. I love to follow the lives of these characters as they experience the curves life throws at them as they grow, love, and marry. Although these books are fairly easy reads, they are not without some surprises that keep you reading to the very end. I love these books, and continue to look for the next in the series.
