I read this book and then looked for the others by the author. It was very interesting.
I simply love this series. Being transported back to this time and still finding women that are strong in a man’s world! Can’t wait to read more!
I worked in a small newspaper office where lead letters were used in typesetting much like this story but a little more automated. Story realistic and interesting time to feel San Francisco as it was.
I loved reading this mystery set in victorian San Francisco and learning a bit about life back then!
i like the books in this series. good stories from yesteryear .
I liked the characters and it was easy to read. Plot kept me guessing.
Great re-creation of historic San Francisco
Not your everyday story. Love this one.
Ms Locke is a wonderful storyteller. It’s easy to get involved with her characters. Looking forward to the next book.
I read this book to learn the history of Wild San Francisco in the late 1800s…I was not disappointed and have read several of Ms. Locke’s Victorian Sanfranciso Mysteries. They don’t need to be read in order and are all “page turners.”
Great story and wonderful characters. I enjoyed this story as much as I had some of the other books in the series.
Very good, enjoyable writing and story.
It was great to visit familiar characters and step back into their lives. Would work as a stand alone book as well, but I recommend checking this author out more than once.
Great author. She writes wonderful page turner suspense
Easy to read, an excellent view of independent women just before the turn of the century. Probably not too realistic but very fun to read.
Love all her characters all the time.
Learned loads about printing and associated businesses. Just another facinating read.
good story line
As a teacher and an avid reader, I would have to give it a B. It had too much information about typesetting and that distracted from the plot.
Historical with great input on printing industry 100 years ago!
Great characters and a good plot that had many possibilities for who killed off two of the story’s characters. I wish there had been a little more excitement between the two occurrences as the story tended to drag in places.
