Old friends and new readers alike will enjoy Deadly Proof, this fourth installment of the cozy, historical mystery series that blends light-hearted romance and suspense, while examining the lives of late 19th century women who worked in the printing trades. Deadly Proof is followed by Pilfered Promises, and Locke’s shorter works, found in Victorian San Francisco Stories and Victorian San Francisco Novellas, feature minor characters from the series.

I totally love the Victorian times, and the proper way ladies and gentlemen behaved. Ms. Locke does a great job of recreating the feeling of Victorian times. While I would never want to live in those times, reading about them is great fun. And Locke does a great job of taking me there.
Not sure what I like about this series, but I have read them all and enjoyed each one–maybe it’s the characters.
I finished it, therefore it was worth READING !!!
The book started out slow and was maybe a little too long. I listened on audio and put it down for a while then came back to finish it. The middle and second half were much better and picked up considerably. All in all… a good book and I enjoyed it.
Love this series! Read one and found all rest published. Historically based the stories within stories wind around the rules and social mores of that time. How people navigate those in order to reach their goals is fascinating plus solving crime is excellent reading!
I really enjoy this author.
already reviewed in full set.
Really enjoyed
I’m hooked on this series. Thoroughly enjoy reading the twist and turns of the plot.
Fourth in the delightful series of murder mysteries set in Victorian San Francisco. Our intrepid heroine, Annie Fuller, is finally moving into a more solid role as a female financial adviser and accountant while her fiance, Nate, is doing his first solo court case defending a woman accused of murder who certainly looks guilty, but who won’t help defend herself or talk about what happened. Lots of strong female characters in these novels, which I like. And the way everyone is so polite and circumspect is such a nice change from all the f’ing of novels in modern settings. This is a curl-up-with-a-cup-of-hot-chocolate-on-a-cold-winter-evening kind of reading.
I recommend this book, in fact the whole series of books featuring Annie Fuller, her boyfriend/fiance/husband and the other characters in this book. The setting seems historically correct, the characters are believeable, resourceful and entertaining. I tend to get deeply interested in well-developed characters and would enjoy the life Annie leads.
I love this series
These Victorian San Fransisco Mysteries are such entertaining reads! The characters are richly develo9ped and their interactions are nuanced and add to the texture of the murder mystery narrative. The author had me guessing deep into the book before the climatctic final chapter. Highly recommend this series. I have enjoyed every one I have read
A little too much detail about who’s who, but once you got past all the introductions, the murder mystery was a good one.
Generally simplistic and easy read
i am crazy mad about this series!! if you are a fan of the historical mystery you will want to jump into the series!
Great female characters and story line.
